- As promised, here is the video on how to make roses out of carrot. Sorry that it took so long! This requires one more extra step than the cucumber one, but it's still very simple and easy. Hope you enjoy it.

This carrot would make any lonely housewife veeeeeery happy O.o
That is called shocking when you put it into bolling water, but let the veg. sit in ice water. We called that an ice bath in Culinary Arts, that keeps the veg. color nice & bright. Another example, when you're cutting apples, have lemon juice near, that stops the fruit from oxydizing & turning brown.

i'm not using glass cutting board. That was a plastic disposable cutting board.
Wood cutting board is the best for sure but if only its cleaned and taken care of properly.
Plastic cutting board is less hassle and cheaper. :)
Also i keep my knives sharp at all times.
That is great. I like this carrot flower a lot, but I must say that is the biggest carrot I have ever seen in my life. Where do you live that you get such huge carrots?

yours is good but there used to be this thai resturant close to where a live and they would sculpt a carrot flower, like it wasnt put together, they got a big carrot and cut into it creating the petals

I didn't know you could make roses with carrots. Have you thought about using a mandoline to cut your carrots?
BTW, the haters can bite it. I just tried to make my first tomato roses, literally fifteen minutes ago, and that's not as easy as it looks. I imagine carrots have their own challenges. Keep up the good work.

i'm just starting to do some rose out of any vegies like carrot and tomato and others..but it seems so hard to do....how many times you tried to do it before you got it perfect

@TanishaCookz I totaly forgot and just cut it up the carrots and put it in a salad LOL but I had some thin sliced chees and rolled them to get the feel of your technique and it looked OK I am sure it will be much better with carrots :)
when you put the carrots on the papaer towel they looked like pepperonis!

theres this small Filipino market that sells carrots this big!

Anyone that's having trouble getting your slices thin enough just use a mandolin cutter.

@rickames Lol, i didn't know it was going to you because i didn't look at the name it came from. But shocking is what it's called & putting vegetables in water keeps the color. And the apples in lemon juice keeps the color the same, take care.

yeah i tried that...cut my fingers up badly. But i will try again, someday :)
would be cool to mix the cucumber and carrot and maby other mixed vegetables cooked, and serve it like a rose :)

Combine both cucumber and carrot but put the carrots in wine and it'll give it a bit of a red o I'm a chef because of my parents

I worked at one restaurant where I had a glass cutting board to work with. I asked the chef to get me a standard white plastic model and he refused. I threw it in the sink and busted it up. "Looks like I gotta have a replacement. Can I get it overnight express?"

FYI: The carrots, I saw in Tokyo markets are large and thick like that... One doesn't see that in the states, maybe at an market that caters to Asians?
