I know nowadays react content is usually low effort and lazy but Jesse does it the right way in which he credits and shoutouts the original persons video and their channel. Also he has ACTUAL insight and commentary which makes it TRANSFORMATIVE

React content where the reactor actually knows something about the topic and can provide something is the only good kind tbh

It's funny how most people don't even realize this but Jesse is the God of making the best deck in formats people think deck building is not as important as gameplay and he consistently proves to them that there are no formats in which deck building is not the superior skill. One of the few people I would truly consider my equivalent or better at deck building ofc he is much much better than me at gameplay as well being a proplayer.

Fun Fact: I beat Ryan Yu at the NAWCQ 2019. We played in round 3. We were each X-1. I won 2-0 with Salamangreat against his Striker deck. I Imperial Ordered him in game 2. I would go on to get eliminated in round 8. Ryan made Day 2. He literally won at minimum 6 straight rounds after starting X-2. That takes some mental fortitude.

Zugzwang is a German word which basically means, "It is your turn to move, and all of your moves are bad!" the only thing in you can do to not lose it pass your turn wich is not possible in chess

The chess comparison at the end is so wrong 😂 Chess has more draws, and player stats are classified into different categories. In chess, players can agree to draw as part of the strategy to win a tournament, so the win rate is not a good indicator. He is comparing two fundamentally different sets of information:
Magnus Carlsen overall stats are extremely insane. He has a 65% win rate, but what matters is that he has a 15% game loss rate!
If Ryan win rate in a master duel cup was 65%, Magnus online win rate is 85% with 0 loses. There is no comparison to make here. Magnus is just that good.

Bro I wish I could play in dragon duels I’m literally 4 months from being able to play in dragon duels. So now I have to play against people older than me. Which has definitely fought me to be a much better player. Anyways would love to learn more about how I could improve even more as a player. Started seeing more consistent success this year. Getting top 8 at locals consistently. Tbh yugioh my dream and would honestly love to be able to compete with Ryan at top tables in the future.

Im 19 and unfortunately despite playing since 2013 I had very little clue about the competitive scene till 2020. I would’ve loved the chance to do Dragon Duels or play at this higher level but I just didn’t know this whole other world outside existed until my high school years (wow i feel old). Im still learning and trying to be the best I can but it’s been hard juggling the cost of the game and finding time to make even locals sometimes. But I have been fortunate enough to attend YCS Indianapolis 2023 and NAWQC 2022 and while I didn’t go to attend the main tournament it was just the fact I was able to go with one of my best friends (who I met thru YGO) and even meet pro players and yugitubers was awesome to me. (Including getting a Fairy Tail Snow signed by Jesse at Indy lol)

That chess comparison was so incredibly forced. Magnus doesn't play 10+ rounds of Swiss against some randos at every event he attends. His win rate is impressive because he exclusively plays against the absolute best players in the world in a game of perfect information with essentially 0 RNG.
He is the highest-rated chess player of all time. Arguably the GOAT. Phy either doesn't know what he's talking about or is knowingly spreading misinformation for the hype.

Zugzwang is indeed, a German term (zug means move and zwang means compulsion). For those who don't know - it means a gamestate where any legal move would weaken/worsen your positioning. Traditionally from chess, but used in more convential card games as well.

I legit don’t know why someone made a video about Ryan Yu being a good yugioh player like 7 years after everyone already knew he was a good yugioh player. Don’t know how he’s “new”.
Garrett or whatever his name is makes alright content but sometimes some of the stuff he says makes it super obvious he isn’t nearly as informed as his channel and content makes it seem.
