2.4GHz is indeed crowded, so we are utilizing our latest algorithm in the B-8, which can run 2 frequency points for wireless transmission with only 1 MHz bandwidth, while still keeping high audio quality and low latency.
When the transmission is only 1M, the anti-interference performance is significantly better than others which normally need 2M-4M. Just imagine that you can still drive a motorcycle fast on a highway when there's traffic jam:)
Also 2.4GHz has longer wavelength than 5.8GHz, thus on average it has better performance when there are obstacles. And it transmits better audio quality than UHF within similar price range and with similar size.
ALL good points Nu-X!
But does it come with mount holes for temple audio boards?
I'm glad you are bringing competitive products to people who can't get expensive studio gear! And they work!
Nashville gigging musician. Early adopter of this B8 unit. Works flawlessly every time (even in crowded clubs under hotels with terrible WiFi environments and other wireless systems failing). I can also vouch for the obstacle performance because I’ve hopped off the stage and line danced while still playing. Bonus: I’m usually still at about 50% after 4 hours. I’ll see how it handles the road over the next couple of months but I’m very optimistic.
This is tremendously insightful - given this info I definitely see some upsides to my GLXD16+ - may have to give it an A/B cause I love the strap pack size, the superior tuner and boost is a great addon.
I agree noisy cables are a pain. Have had brand new ones not work or worse be noisy, and you have to track down the bad one. Thanks for the videos Rob May you and your family have a great day!
Rob you're a good salesman. Your time as an Anderton's padawan has served you well.
Just ordered mine and def looking forward to using it 👍
Brilliant! I as well cannot keep up with NUX's product releases. I still love my old gear, well 5 years old. How time has flown. Valve head and a Barefaced cab, that does it for me. I know the DI out is not going to be the quality of the new gear but hey, with the amount of beer people drink at pubs around here, I doubt they can tell the difference. Oh my! Hail in Malta! Dude, if you were back in the UK you'd be helping me build the Ark in the back garden.
I liked this video, Rob. Very amusing. Just like old times. Great job.
Thanks, Rob! Great content as always. I've been struggling to come down on one side of the fence regarding whether to ditch my cables. Wireless, tuner, and a boost? Yes, please! I'll definitely start squirreling away some cash and grab one soon.
Great video Rob 👏
Great! It's on my list now.
Great job. NUX is simply fantastic. I use their wireless clipon mic and ear monitors and love them. Thanks for this info.
This was a really good, fun and enjoyable video Rob! Gonna buy one now :)
This really cool, also I love that you have and used that Jimi pedal for so long, it’s amazing and sounds brilliant
Great video Sir!!! Thank you!!! 🇺🇸
I like it ..its practical and well built.
Definitely saving up for one.
Handy and cool piece 😎
Great video-this is definitely for guitar players. I bought a Nux and playing with in ear monitors, my B string sounded horrible. I bought a PRA wireless 10 years ago and it sounds better than a cable. Just wish the were still in business to make 5.8. My 2.4 cuts out som indoors but not outside. Keep up the great videos sir🙌🏼🎸
Over just purchased the NUX plug in effects and I can not believe the quality!!! It sounds insane through headphones and even Bluetooth speakers….. great products very well priced!
Great review Rob, keep up the great work 🎸👍
Love that you’re still using your Octavio Chappers! The NUX gear is really great. Would happily drop this on my board. Including a boost seemed a bit odd at first, but really makes sense. Why have a tuner & a boost when they can easily be combined & minimise board real estate take up.
Very cool 🤘
Love you guys ❤
Very cool indeed!
I'm both a guitar tech & electrician & have years of experience understanding cable signal paths for both my professions..
You absolutely can not beat hard wire quality guitar cables..
Anything wireless has some form of latency & can suffer from interference too as well as give a slightly inaccurate interpretation of your playing, naunces & dynamics..
Can I also add, that all your patch cables between your pedals are hard wired.. so, may as well plug a decent cable between your guitar & pedalboard too right..!
This product, like so many others out there that do the same job (there are many that are much hugher quality already been on the market for years) is good for one thing only.. Playing live where you need to walk among the audience whilst playing & that's about it..
You will never ever beat the integrity of your signal using quality cables over any wireless or interface systems.. expecially if using a decent buffer in a long chain with hardwired quality cables.. there is & never will be a substitute..
This thing is also huge & takes up lots of real estate on your board..
Rob would knows all this too..!
Advertise anything for a few quid I guess...
Agree 100%. Had to laugh when he mentioned that it was possible to use a DI with the NUX for live situations.
Personally, it’s not for me. And this guy doesn’t do it any favours by sounding like an annoying twat.
@reilly-vc1rm I also work as a Data Centre engineer from my electrical profession & can tell you that WiFi crashes & lags all the time.. Fact..!
Hardwire doesn't do this, especially when buffered..
There was a guy just recently did a gig near me & was relying on a WiFi connection for his backing..
Well.. his set lasted only 5mins of a 45min slot at Leo's Red Lion Festival due to WiFi lag & then total disconnection..
So the poor guy ended up with a totally unprofessional performance due to relying on a non-hardwired connection..
Anything non hardwire is a gamble & sub-par for reliability & sound quality.. these are facts & the science is there to back this up..
I play guitar in my bedroom, for me wireless is the greatest thing since Electricity, no more cords, never had a problem apart from leaving it on overnight and draining the battery and I've only done that once. Cables are yesterdays tech.
That looks very nice. I bought the Amp Academy last year and it was great for a while, then it just stopped working. Hopefully this unit is more durable! I lost the receipt for Amp Academy- so don’t be too quick to discard paperwork! Mine came with a warranty card, I believe.
Great video
Ooo the Antiquity Drive had a very familiar form factor! Might turn out to be a no-brainer pedal purchase...
Love NU-X. I have the C-5RC which works great and uses 5.8G and takes up no pedalboard space.
Option paralysis... funny! Chapman such a proper English name, You are right it is simple, and useful. Good videos. Great Demonstration Thank you.
Hmm man this is a cool usable product for sure!
Ive always pronounced it "new x". Thanks for clarifying Rob.
Really useful piece of kit. Would be interesting to hear how it sounds into different fuzz pedals compared to just cable.
True! Id like to know the input impedance
NUX is making really good products
I really like NUX stuff. I gig with their Stageman acoustic pre-amp, and use an MG30 for electric shenanigans
Stageman rocks! 😋
Got mine just before Christmas and have used it for several hours in our worship team where we use wireless mics, wireless in ears, and wireless cameras. Crystal clear, range is good but latency does seem to increase a bit the further I get from the stage.
Why don't you pray to god to shorten the latency......oh....wait.....he doesn't do that does he?
Very Cool!!! I have the NUX LOOP CORE AND THE RECTO Distorion....
with the DI, this seems kinda perfect for an acoustic player who has a decent preamp on the guitar - run a few effects in the loop and DI to the FOH. Nice big tuner screen and a boost for solos. Seems like a winner.
Water Margin quote, nice!
That's a clever bit o' gear. It has multi-functions, but they have kept it simple, and not tried to stuff every possible effect into it, as too many other pedal/amp designers do. I'd have to play around with it a little, to decide if I even need the boost (I don't solo much), but a wireless system that doesn't Spinal Tap out with radio signals coming through, and good tuner is worth it.
Come to think of it, I play with as much gain as possible ( I have an ongoing love affair with Orange), so the boost could make my sound extra obnoxious! I like THAT idea, lol.
I bought a cheap wireless setup recently - to try the idea out - and it’s amazing! Even just jamming with friends, at home - it’s a godsend - especially for things like swapping over to an acoustic and then back again, not having to worry about where the cables are…. It also works great with my digital sax - so I’d say these devices are damned near essential! By the time I need a new one, there might even be a mkII version!
Like this chap
Perfect for acoustic guitar. I don't need effects and just need a tuner and a volume boost for solos. Perfect!
If I'd youse effects, I'd go as follows:
Nux b8, cry baby wah, Ibanez ts9, tc viscous vibe, boss rc30, boss re20, strymon blue sky...
I would put a picture of my whole pedalboard on the startup screen. Meta!
I love Nu-X, recently bought the Queen of Tone and the Optima Air pedals... The B-8 is my next purchase
The Water Margin yeah baby!
I got it... Super cool 🎸
Perfect wireless, tuner and interface💪💪
Only thing is, that you can hit the knob above the footswitch by mistake, because the knobs are so close
I hoped it was possible to lock those bottuns..
whoa! Quoting the Water Margin!
I knew that quote was familiar. I'm re-watching it right now.
Bad ass!
Malta!!? I just stumbled upon this review, randomly suggested for me. Small world ;-)
NUX must have some pretty incredible engineering talent. They never seem to fail to innovate. I've fallen in love with their Loop Core Stereo pedal as my primary looper, even though it seems to fly under the radar among looper enthusiasts. Just bundling tuner/boost/wireless together would be fantastic for my pedal board, but I don't need the wireless and my board is already crammed to the hilt. Looks really cool though, and seems a value for the money.
I got a Rectifier style distortion from them last year which hadn’t been wired… No sound when I plugged it in so took the back off… All the components were there, just no wire 😂
@@danwalters7224 They're a Chinese company. Mistakes on an assembly line aren't unheard of. Surprised QC didn't catch that one. I was referring to their engineers though, who aren't exactly on the line assembling the products.
Nice B8 M8
Thanks for telling me how to pronounce NU-X. I have one of their pedals and have always called it Nux.
Looks decent and I like the idea of minimising the footprint on my pedalboard, but not sure if I want it to replace my favourite tuner (TU=3), current favourite boost (Spark) or current wireless system (WL-50). This said, it would give me room for more pedals. Nice review Rob.
Im with you @stevendearden8030. We all have our faves. You don't need this. Thats my point.
Mine is on order and will replace my Shure GLXD16 system. Was looking at updating to the GLXD16+ but the Nux BA-8 has even more options at a lower price, so I’m going with NUX. Looking forward to receiving my unit.
That's what I'm going through now. What features made you just scrap the updated shure 16plus
@@joronbrice Price firstly, but I was keen on updating my old GLXD with the + to give me the extra input if the unit goes down and the multi transmission frequencies, however the Nux BA-8 has the extra cable input as well as an effects loop and DI which will be really useful. Interested to see if the 2.4mhz will be an issue. I have had interference issues with the Shure GLXD16 in recent times so fingers crossed the Nux will be ok. Charging the transmitter on the unit is a bonus too.
@@kenphillips3282 Unfortunately, I keep hearing people complaining about interferences with it. I guess I should stop trying to find cheaper and get pro gear for my gigs like the Sennheiser EW 500.
I dont play live nor do i have a pedalboard, but damn, now i want one
Really awesome concept. Next version I'd like to see facility for 2 or more transmitters, and a departure from the strap pack design to the much more convenient and better direct plug design transmitter. Lots of us who gig regularly like to use more than 1 guitar a night. The strap pack design means more fiddling around on guitar changes.
Great concept and I'm sure we'll see some upgrades and improvements of functionality and performance.
Clip it to your belt instead of the strap- problem solved.
Yep, a two transmitter solution would be perfect. Most of us gig with more than one guitar.
Can't stand those lumps you plug directly into the guitar. This looks a much better design.
I've used many expensive wireless setups and some In the 150 dollar price range and I have found the cheap ones work just as well and were even a bit smaller
WOW , a perfect product . Does Rob work for NUX now? CZcams at its finest
Very cool. Even with the Axe FX it seems like simpler way to go.
Malta still makes me think of V. by Pynchon
Emergency clean boost comes in handy when clean parts threaten to disappear in the mix
Cables rarely let me down
Play it with a Fender champ and use the direct out to the Bose L1...in a small jazz combo, it would be my entire board....
The boost is fine to balance the volume of different guitars or just to reach more distortion of a single channel amp.
Yeah, I think I’d use it to balance Guitars that really makes more sense
NUX rocks! I made a makeshift Trident w the Cerberus and Amp Academy at the end of the chain. 🤣🤣🤣I have 2 Modcore pedals, timecore, Horseman, Atlantic, Steel Stringer, Plexi Crunch… I might be missing one or 2 more lol… yeah NUX is an awesome pedal company. No problems with them whatsoever and folks always complement my TONE
This looks great. About time someone was doing something easy to use but solid like this. My only hesitation would be the rechargeable transmitter. Great that it is rechargeable but these battery types don’t last forever so I’d be worried about longevity. How long would the batteries in the transmitter last across charges. And can the internal battery/batteries be replaced?
Cables for me. Yes they break but who doesn't carry spares? Answer - My guitarist. Once he came up to me 5 mins before showtime and said "I was talking to some girls outside and I was fiddling with my plectrum and now I've lost it" I play bass with my fingers but now I carry spare picks!
LOVE ALL the features it makes (not the long press for tuner that is atrocious) but same price as my boss WL-60 so I’m gonna pass this one. I was ready to switch but not for that price
I think a cool use for this would be as an extra small boost for lead work. As I am the only guitarist in my band I like to keep my rhythm sound and lead sound as similar as possible and depending on the mood of the drummer I have to push things pretty hard to be heard normally. Secretly, i think he hates drums he hits them so gdamn hard.
Lease ON life
Nice one!! But I'll stick to my Sennheiser SXW-D and AMT Bricks. I must admit, the transmitter on the Sennheiser has a crap battery life, but I've learnt to live with it. For the base I managed to find a smart phone power pack with the orange plastic bit that extends the life to no end.
It would be very useful if the receiver had a battery to charge the transmitter when it was not plugged in, because after the show the entire system will be stored somewhere and the transmitter will run out of power unless you recharge it at home or even before of the next event.
Nux keeps making kit faster than I can buy it😮
Sound pretty much sux wind. But I love your humor. Love ya my man. 🎶🍔
I have one. Works great. HX stomp in the loop. RX serves as the DI to FOH.
I literally just bought one to use the same way.
Do you know whether or not you can make the boost a clean boost at the end after your paycheck stop? If so, I’m buying this.
Lol, after your HX stomp
@jordanbrown9507 the boost would be on the front end
@@jordanbrown9507 I haven’t checked out where the boost happens. I can see reasons for both options. For my use, I’d like it after the effects loop. Maybe they will make it switchable with a firmware update
Hi Rob! You forgot to mention amazing frequency of Nux updating their products which is basicly close to never.
the distortion pedal would go in the fx loop or NUXB8 > OUTPUT > DISTORTION > AMPLIFIER
Great video!!! And great overdrive pedal. Who made it?? Thanks
I think it would be nice if there was a way to activate the Boost without being near your pedalboard. Seems like there could be a button on the transmitter or a way to attach one to your guitar and plug it into the transmitter. Don't get me wrong it's cool product but everything could use Improvement.
I do large budget events for a living and I can say the nux stuff really doesn't work for larger format events or rooms. We have nothing but dropouts and issues when a band or artists brings one in. They always have to connect to out ulxd or axiant system for a stable signal.
You should've done a 10 mins vid on the Malta hail.
Thanks for this video. Still not sure what the point in the box is though
😂🤣 when you put those guitar cables on you head it sort of looked like you had dreads again ✌️
It's hailing in Malta so you can cool off from all those hot licks
💯
Gee, I am suddenly worried all the cables in my bedroom will strangle me in my sleep. Thanks, Rob. lol
Nux just goes from strength to strength.
I love the idea, but I'd honestly have to try it on a couple of my guitars that seem picky with wireless systems. I have a couple of guitars with active pickups and 1 that has a active and passive in it and doesn't work with alot of wireless systems.
So far I have not had an issue with this and my Spector bass. (Active preamp)
Finally, a worthy replacement for the Line6 g70.
If I could find a photo of Tony Iommi with a disappointed look on his face, that’s what I would use as my startup screen.
Been looking at it. Still wondering if the Shure will be the better choice. I like the form factor and features of the NU/X. Like to see how they compare... Talking about the Shure GLXD16+.
The Shure unit is very good and similar, although doesn’t feature the boost and it’s $200 more expensive… unless of course you buy one secondhand!
I feel like NUX should redesign this with an FX loop and a second wireless channel an another receiver so you can go wireless to your board and then wireless to your amp.
I also hate chords with a passion. So I plug a NUX wireless transmitter into the output jack on my quitar. Then I plug the NUX receiver into my headrush effects processor. Then another set of transmitter/ receiver to a Headrush ffr powered speaker. No cables, no bending over to adjust pedals 😊
But how does it sound? Does it affect your tone in any way?
The only question that matters is how much it colours the tone?
Id use this as a Tuner pedal first in the chain and the rest as normal
My horse!
Ideal to use with a sonicake ir pedal
wait I'm supposed to what at the guitar store? 🤣. Looks great.
What's the point of running the pedals back into the b8, and then into the amp?
It would be perfect if the transmitter unit had a battery to charge the receiver even when not plugged in, as in many cases a professional musician's equipment goes to storage after a concert, without the chance to be charged.
Great video as always. Sooooo.....can it do 2 outputs? I have a splitter (Radial Big Shot) that takes the guitar the splits it between my Quad Cortex and a clean signal to my audio interface for synth guitar. Could this replace the splitterbox and give me wireless guitar and midi?
If so, there is a new market going to be emerging very soon.
Cool vid- what the heck is that Antiquity Drive? ... is the primary source of the lead riffs at the 8:00 mark? or was the amp's sound?
