The beautiful song and the singer's voice just compliment the moment.
Their chemistry made it easier to endure the unending obstacles they had to overcome. It was such an endearing love story. It took Shiyi a minute to accept her feelings for him but it was worth the wait. They were perfect for each other. The soundtrack was the icing on the cake.

This! This is all this man wanted to hear. The truest feelings of the person he has feelings for. His late wife always argued with him and was mostly with him for his status. She was more worried about her son and the life he was going to live (which is not wrong) but that pushed her husband to be away because it seemed as though all his wives wanted was his attention via his status or connections. All he wanted was someone to love him and for him to be loved purely. No status, power, fame or money involved and he got that from a woman apologizing for the actions she did and the hurt hurt and shame it caused. She was sincere and he felt it! Beautiful scene and truly amazing actors!! Give this series a watch if you haven't already. I loved it from the first episode to the last!!!

I love how the Marquis picks Shiyi up yet again and that she finally can be honest about her feelings for him. I love the music and you can see the tenderness and love in both of them. Their chemistry is fantastic and I think both are such good actors together. It's been my first Chinese series to watch and I can't find another that beats this so far. I keep coming back it the videos and the series.

We've waited 35 episodes for this moment/it was well worth the wait. I'm so happy that Shiyi finally opened her heart to him. He waited a long time for her to be ready/now that she is he's finally getting the life that he wanted. He devoured her with that kiss. The look on his face when she told him that "She didn't want to lose him" was heartbreakingly beautiful. The way she directly into his eyes when she was talking reminded me of their wedding night. He told her that "She was the only one to look directly into the grooms eyes" and she told him "She heard that only a person without ulterior motives will look a person directly in the eyes" This has come full circle. He saw her sincerity through her eyes/was able to see just how much she loved him. It was such a perfect moment.
WHY? do all of his concubines blame Shiyi whenever he rejects them. He's a grown man that can decide whether or not he wants to be bothered with his concubines or not. In the past his mother forced him to visit so their lucky if he comes to see them at all. He stopped sleeping with the before Shiyi even entered the picture. After witnessing firsthand how they were bartering for favors during the morning period of his first wife he kept his distance. Well Lianfang never stood a chance...lol He was avoiding her like the plague long before his late wife passed away. Concubine Wen own behavior has turned him off. I have to admit him dissing her on her birthday was a little rude but understandable. The fact that she's blaming Shiyi for being rejected once again is dangerous because now in her eyes Shiyi is the enemy.
It’s awful how the TVshow changed the book in so many ways that this story could NEVER happen back then.

@@AlexDKS89 First of all, with the social status of the male lead, (he's the Queen's brother in the book) The family would NEVER have the concubine in charge of the household. Secondly, if they didn't have sex on the wedding night, it's considered a shame on the wife - the eldest female of the family would check if she bleed.
in old Chinese society, marriages were always arranged, the higher status or rich the family is, the arrange marriage is more strict in matching the status. so most of the husband and wife didn't know each other until wedding day. In the book, they were arranged by her dead sister, who was his wife. and they fell in love with each other after many things happened within the family, they finally trusted each other. And she had a son who later become a young general in the army. And he didn't have any more concubine after they got married.

This was the best romance male character I believe. He was fair, had high moral and dedicated husband. He loved her even she had other agenda. This scene was very touching.

I understand her original reservation. This was once her brother in law. Weird to think about but I loved this drama and the leads. After watching General and I, I’d watch any drama with Wallace Chung cause he is such a great actor. Seven Tan too, everything I’ve seen her in I really enjoyed.
She was definitely hesitant at first especially since she believed someone in the Xu family killed her mother on top of the fact that he was once her brother in law. What I liked the most is that you could see her growing feelings for him throughout their encounters especially when she went out of her way to help him deal with his family drama. Such a beautiful love story.

Having read the story outline I honestly was a little apprehensive but watched because of the great reviews. I didn’t like the idea that the lead had so many wives but besides making great villains, it didn’t ruin their love story.
@@MusicLover-rc8db it took a minute for him to see her true character. He was surrounded by conniving women for so long that he assumed that Shiyi was one too. The way he kept comparing her to his late wife kept getting him in hot water..lol He wasn't used to dealing with strong and independent woman. She didn't care about his money or status. She didn't try to use him to enrich her maiden family like his late wife and concubines. She challenged him over and over again. He couldn't help but fall in love with her. Lingyi was definitely ahead of his time... from the very beginning you can tell he just wanted a simple life with one wife. He was never comfortable having all those women especially when he witnessed first hand how they were bartering for favors during the mourning period for his late wife. Shiyi was completely different from what he was used to. She didn't fawn all over him. She was quick to speak her mind whenever his actions or statements were out of line. Once he realized that Shiyi was different his entire behavior towards her changed. His love for her changed his entire viewpoint as well as his behavior. He even started standing up to his mother. The power of Shiyi...lol Their entire journey had me on the edge of my seat especially this moment. He waited a long time for her to be ready.
I actually decided to watch this because of Seven Tan (FL) I watched a few of her dramas before and I became a fan of hers. I've loved all of her dramas so far so this didn't disappoint.

@@MusicLover-rc8db I loved all of those... I still watch Under the Power whenever I'm indecisive about what I want to watch next. I also rewatch Eternal Love and Meteor Garden when I struggle to find different dramas. I don't watch the new stuff that's on the air now until they upload the entire series. I made the mistake of watching The Sword and the Brocade while it was on air and I was so addicted to the show that I would search all night and day for the latest episodes and sneak peeks. The long drawn out wait was killing me...lol so now I just wait until the series are completed. Have you seen "Go ahead" it's another Seven Tan's drama. It was really good as well.

This has to be the first drama where I felt sorry for the guy for having so many concubines. He was forced into taking concubines and the worst was when his first wife manipulated him into taking concubines even when she knew how he was against it. And then every concubine just hated him for not loving them back... How are you supposed to force feelings
