This guy again. He's such a devout creationist. People need to stop looking at math to explain history. 90% of what? 90% of the knowledge of how to rub sticks together to make fire? Or 90% of the flavor just isn't there (LaCroix water).
He wants to be taken credibly, wants to go to school for archaeology, but doesn't want to get anything from it, knows it all, already. What a douche canoe. Literally the definition of a know-it-all. Well, if he reads this comment, he's gonna learn something quickly: What you think you know about anything from before, is always parsed through the lens of what you know, now.
If I go to Japan, I can buy a sword made with techniques that transform sand into swords. Good swords, with flexible steel, sharp blades, balanced, forged layer over layer, utilizing a technique no one else uses. No one. Chinese don't make swords that way.
But here we have an ancient technique still in use (somewhere) that makes strong steel out of what amounts to 'poor materials.' We have people on TV claiming there are Alien Produced Metals utilizing layered techniques 'we can't do today,' Must mean there have been visitors, aliens do exist! But if the Japanese have been making weapons in a similar way for 1500 years, means it's possible someone created 'meta materials' without advanced technology. It's even possible for meta materials to be created from an asteroid or meteor entry/impact.
Gold is one such material. It comes from the fusion of other metals at high temps, only possible during an impact event. There is a finite amount of gold, once it's been used up, we can't do anything else til we find more. Or learn how to make it synthetically. Gold exists, it's made through natural processes, and we can use it to make jewelry and electronics. It would fit the definition of a 'meta material' should we be honest, and yet it's never given the same level of speculation as aliens.
And then it's possible to craft a sword of equal strength with stronger materials, without folding them like a traditional blade. So would a modern swordsmith spend 100s of hours making one sword using folding and poor quality iron? Or would they invest in better material and spend far less time making a sword?
Sometimes I wonder if people on this planet are more interested in being religious than being honest. People are very tribal. These ancient civilizations would have been in competition for resources, land, and pride. They would have behaved exactly like us, with certain aspects of culture being carried by word of mouth as people traveled. If you have heard about the pyramids of the Peruvians, you would build your own, especially if you were viewed as a god amongst men, and especially on a whim.
What happens when you can't build anything bigger? When even the thought of building something more massive is incomprehensible to even your team of builders? You start showing how badass you are with sacrifice. You can sacrifice 80 people a day? Watch me sacrifice 100! The one thing I really dislike about these people talking about the ancient world: they never do it from a human angle. It's always from technology, from some perspective of awe, like 'how the fuck did people build things?'
I would have to discover materials built using advanced methods (nuts, bolts, rivets, welds, sliding doors, Electonics, ect) to believe there was an advanced building method used. We find... rocks. Put together with... more rocks. Yes, they are cut and shaped. They aren't 'precise' in a way that we would do today with a machining process. They are precise in a way that raw manpower would do 1000s of years ago, where if you rub something long enough, the edge is mostly 'flat.'
Not 'precisely' flat to be within microns of tolerance. But 'approximately' flat to appear as though it was shaped specifically to be joined. They explained how they transported stone, discovering the viscosity of sand with just enough water applied. Which means, yes, people build the pyramids.
And yes, people built all the other pyramids too. What's more likely? Aliens? An advanced civilization? Or a group of organized people with the manpower and tens of thousands of years to do it? These things stop being impressive when you factor in humanity possibly being 100 thousand years old. Where is the Awe in how an ancient people could figure out how to quarry and transport these heavy ass stones, and configure them in a way that convinces future people of aliens?
That's the awe inspiring part. 'They built things out of materials to last.' They build things out of what was plentiful, even if they had to dig it out of a hillside, cut it, quarry it, and then drag it 500 miles. Dragging things on the ground is 'impractical' to people who can sky lift granite rocks with helicopters, should they really need to. But to people who have no other means, 'impractical' and 'impossible' are cousins. They just do, even if it means sacrificing 100 people a day to coerce loved ones into finishing the gods temple.
One of the problems of old: never a shortage of mouths to feed. Conversely, always someone around to be forced to work, fight, or sacrifice to 'appease the gods.' When the pinnacle of your life is building a gigantic stone temple/city, and ensure the gods favor your people, you're not going to have a lot of personal freedom or time to sit around making discoveries, such as electricity or anti gravity.
If you somehow discover primitive battery tech, the need for application is going to drown out the ability to discover more tech. Egypts Tesla and Edison aren't going to have time to develop industrial applications for their discoveries. The Ruler is going to force them to serve his needs asap, any such tech will be treated like magic, intended for the 'Gods only.' And then Cortez comes along and says 'I like your stuff, can we share?'
By 'share' he means 'give the pox and take the stuff.'
Also, how does this guy not understand the relationship between leadership and culture? 3 different cultures found in one place only means 3 different leadership styles. Would be like Going to Germany and discovering 3 different cultures from the last 100 years, and being very shocked they all practiced genocide (surprise, they didn't!). Goddamn I wasted my talents, should have been whatever this guy is.

Thank you for giving Matt a voice and helping us all grow our understanding of history.
We need Irving Finkel, the only man I trust when it comes to Sumerian cuneiform
One thing I think that sets Julian apart is how he brings guests back more often than other podcasters. I like being able to get to know these folks and keep up with them in an organic way and this channel is the best for long form conversations and you’ll most likely get more than one out of em from Julian. Keep up the great work brother.
This is everything right here man -- thank you. I really appreciate this comment because it's how I think about it too. Too many podcasts capture moments rather than periods. I want to capture the periods of interesting people continuing to do interesting stuff.
I never knew this guest till now so, yeah. Thanks!! 👍
Thank u for being the only 1 who keeps bringing the same guests back on so we can continue to get to know them and what they do. So thank u Julian, we really appreciate it!!
The guy brigging up the little pictures without being asked lends so much to the show. He is doing a great job.
Haha! At one point I was like, I wonder how he feels when a guest makes him their bitch!? Lol! Makes me think of “The Other Guys” they call Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlburg, paper bitch. For doing paper/desk work, in a police dept.
Anyway…. I imagine he’s good when Julian asks him to pull something up. But when a guest just starts bossing him around 😬🙄😂
Alessi is awesome!
Pull that shit up Alessi
@@sallyjayne444 I Know that was meant to be funny, but in all honesty, he is so fast he doesn't give them much time to boss him around!!

I could listen to interviews with Matt indefinitely. Keep bringing him back!
Matt Lacroix has been my favorite guest of this podcast.
why he's a lil dork nut sucker😂
Just figured that he's a hardcore researcher. Can't wait to hear what he has to share.
i never get tired of listening to Julian and Matt
Love it TJ!
Matt, you know what's wrong? What an archaeologist does not understand is for you to understand very well and most importantly, to believe. It makes me proud that you see values in my country that no one else in Turkey can see, THANKS for this.
Julian, you're a fucking legend for bringing Matt on and giving this a platform.

Mad props to Matt and all the others out there pushing the limits and Julian for opening your platform! Much 💜
Glad you enjoyed this one Megan!
I love when you can tell Julian just got it!
The fact Matt’s self trained and didn’t get brainwashed in college makes me trust him a thousand times more

Matt and the ufo filmmaker were the main reasons I subscribed to your channel.
I believe the UFO filmmaker was James Fox.
@@Reebonicsur right its James Fox, and his documentary on Variginia(dunno if I spelled that right) Brazil was awesome!! Ive seen people call bs and im def skeptical myself sometimes, but if that whole deal was a fake then they hired actors who should all be Academy Award winners lol. The man they took back to that field had such a crazy, uncontrollable, and emotional reaction to just being there made me firmly believe his experience was real
What filmaker ?? Lol.. Matt is one of the best on ancient civilizations!! I I been following him for years !! And I saw him sitting next to some of the biggest names !! @@JulianDorey Hey Julian, have you heard of Irving Finkel? Please let me know what you think of getting him on the podcasts. I think with the right questions he could clear up everything Sumerian and ancient Mesopotamia from real life accounts. Here’s what the British museum say about Dr Finkel.
Dr Irving Finkel is the curator responsible for the 130,000 cuneiform inscriptions in the British Museum's Department of the Middle East. He works especially on Mesopotamian magic and medicine with an interest in ancient ideas and investigation of the reality of ancient life.
Please 🙏🏻 ❤️

You're amazing -- thank you so much!!
Matt LaCroix is amazing! His passion for his work, his natural curiosity and his commitment for the truth without political agenda. This is what real science looks like. I feel fortunate to listen to his findings, potentially history changing findings, of a more accurate timeline of how modern and ancient civilizations are connected. This ground breaking podcast shows both Matts value as a researcher and Julian's value as a podcaster who has created a honest and open platform to attract interesting-intelligent people to talk about the cool stuff they know.
Oh yes !!! Matt was the reason I subscribed. Beautiful work 🔥🔥🔥
Had to drop 2 new ones for you!
I love what you're doing Julian and Matt is a great guest. Even if you don't believe everything he says, he gives points that still make you think.
Always a great time talking with Matt!
Dude, Matt is by far my favorite guest. Amazing stuff! I also love how you question everything he brings to the table. The dynamic of these conversations are incredible. Sometimes Matt will say something and I'll think "Yeah, but..." and then you come along and ask the same thing-- then Matt comes back with some dope responses. Love it!
Julian,
listening to Matt talk with so much knowledge and passion is wonderful. He reminds me of my son and just like my son he can be intense. I have so much respect in your interviewing skills and patience. You don’t let your ego take over but you manage to keep Matt on track as much as possible.
I personally have watched your videos with him repeatedly. You guys, kind of break my brain. 🤪 I love it !
I have to commend ML'C for his ability to so easily recall these complexities. 😅 I struggle to recall the names of those I work with on the daily. JD is quite the King of hosts!
Your channel was throttled every time you had LaCroix on in the past. Keep up the content.

Best podcast out there! Yes, better than Rogan. Thanks for all the great wisdom! I also love Matt myself 😊
Ummm no. This show is an inferior, knockoff version of Joe Rogan. Julian is alright, tho he seems like a bandwagon hopper. He always interviews wackos who have no qualifications, evidence or even serious education. When you start every sentence with “supposedly” “I can’t tell you who” and “allegedly”, you’re clearly not saying anything of substance. This Matt guy is a smug condescending dork.

Steel is a 4 on the hardness scale. 7 is hard as Tungsten. 9 would be pretty cool tho. That cracked me up
A part of me doesnt want to believe Matt...... Almost too much confidence. But a bigger part of me has this deep seeded itch that he's actually probably not very far off from the truth in his episodes with you Julian 🤔. I have definitely gained a massive amount of respect for this guy from his first time on to now. You grill him hard but he doesnt flinch and he rebuttals back with plaudible knowledge. Keep up with his journey I'm here for it!
Right. I love matt except his desperation to have everyone accept any of his theories based on him having expertise in any field brought up. He said he is actually a miner when discussing rocks, farmer with soil, biologist, expert in sumerian language, theology expert, expert in the curriculum allowed in every education system and expert in psychology and engineering, and historian. I've followed him for 4 years now and any questions about his claims, he defend with these claims about his expertise and background. Especially when he claimed he is a miner, and a farmer too smh.
@@The_SCPFoundationwould you listen to someone who has no confidence or surety in what it is they believe?
There are males who are sure they are females, even though every biological cell is contrary to their belief. So no, not buying “surety” and “confidence”. Dude reminds me of the wrestling promoter turned “expert” on “Ancient Aliens”
@The_SCPFoundation yeah, I think Matt is a little full of himself and believes his own bull crap then expects others to, and Julian pushes back on it well. Having said that, I really enjoyed the podcast and love the work Matt is doing in getting different ideas out there. I think he at least is making a genuine effort, and I think as he gets abit older he'll mature and not get caught up so much in his own excitement and ideas, and will continue to do well. I hope he achieves his goals and it's great that Julian gives him this platform
@@kriscostello1786 you brought up a really good point I didn't even consider Matt's age. But now that you mentioned it, I think a lot of his overconfidence at times definitely stems from that youthful pride in his work and wanting people to believe him so much! Which isn't necessarily a bad thing when given that perspective. I can absolutely see his passion for this which gives me an entirely new respect for him. I appreciate you mentioning that!
That was an amazing podcast Julian, I thoroughly enjoyed it, Matt is an amazing researcher, I've been following him for a few years now and he's responsible for opening my eyes and mind to all new possibilities, as have you. Enjoyed the input about Scotland being a Scottish gal myself! Keep doing what your doing Julian, your work is brilliant. I'm away now to jump into your latest podcast.
I gotta say I listen to you podcast a lot and love it Matt is and interesting person to talk too
ANOTHER one?!… Woo!
ANOTHA ONE
Matt has to understand that iit doesn't dismiss your research of what you know about if you just say you don't know when you don't have the answer to a certain question. You're not expected to know everything about everything but it's like he's afraid to not have an answer to every question. But guessing timelines, geologic facts, historical locations and populations are unnecessary when you don't even get close to the right answer. But that is an insecurity that is forgivable until it's repeatedly done. It becomes insulting to the intelligence of your audience especially when some of us actually know the correct answer and hear absurd guesses that confidently assumes the listener wouldn't possibly know anyway
That it true also I’m very perplexed tho
I feel everything’s changing tho so what ur saying does not matter
Matt's not going on the assumption that the listener does not know. He is just making a stab at answering the question. You read a lot into that assumption you made. It's like you are looking really hard to find something to throw at Matt. Matt starts off by saying he has to make corrections and he got feedback on some mistakes last time. How in the hell does that translate into he thinks his listeners know nothing?? No, the idea you are picking on him makes more sense.
@@and4all706 I don't know about you but I've thoroughly followed and supported matt in all of his work for 4 years now. I'm definitely not against him. But to make corrections after it's called out after confidently giving a clear answer without saying "I think" or "maybe", is exactly what I say it is. It's answering questions with out knowing the answers just to not have to admit that you don't know. And if it's confidently done while we are listening to learn the information he's presenting, it has to be clear that he assumes that it will just be accepted with the rest of the work but he didn't find it necessary to verify it is correct first. That is insulting to loyal fans of his work like I am when we listen in hopes of learning the knowledge he is sharing. But knowing the answers to questions he gets wrong with out hesitation makes you have to wonder what answers he gave that is information I didn't know before him has the same amount of inaccuracies. You don't mix your true researched information with multiple choice style guessing while keeping the same energy unless you believe what you say is good enough for the listener. And if so, telling a 3year old Santa is real is done with confidence by many people because you know they aren't informed enough to call out your incorrect statements. But you wouldn't dare say it that way to another adult with the poker face of unshakeable confidence. So don't @ me with YOUR assumptions. Also, have you received your signed, pre-ordered copy of the epic of humanity as a good faith true show of support as I have? Or are you an internet hero fighting for Matt's defense only in comment sections? If the latter, you have the wrong target for that one.
@@The_SCPFoundation OK and ty. I thought he usually says when he is making an educated guess.
