  • The afternoon of October 13 2023, the Native American Studies Department hosted a round table discussion titled “Grappling With ‘America’: Perspectives from Turtle Island and Abya Yala for a Hemispheric Native American Studies," with Silvia Rivera Cusicanqui, Lourdes Gutiérrez Nájera, and Shannon Speed [Chickasaw]. The event was organized by department’s chair Zoila Mendoza, and PhD candidates Alejandra Cano and Carlos Tello Barreda. It was sponsored by the UC Davis Humanities Institute, the UC Davis Hemispheric Institute on the Americas, UC Davis Global Affairs, and the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion.
