Dusty Henricksen reminds me of Torstein Horgmo a little bit. Both have such bold & steeeazy ways of riding.
Svens consistency, style and difficulty on the rails are unmatched. So precise. And his jumps are so tasteful and cool! But I think judges did a good job.

This was one of the best, if not the best, Winter X Games Slopestyle comps in history. We literally witnessed a 1980 this year (even if it was sloppy or an accident). I follow Marcus on CZcams and was hoping he’d win, but Mark McMorris 100% deserved that win. It was a flawless 4th run while Marcus’ run could’ve been cleaned up a smidge. This was awesome! I’ll be in Aspen/Snowmass in less than 2weeks & am even more hyped for the trip now!

I snowboard for the very first time this weekend. And my respect for these professionals and many more people on their way has gone through the roof. It’s mind blowing that there are people out here that are capable of these insane tricks literally creating history

Mark and Marcus are my fav riders. I like watching Kleveland more. But honestly mark deserved that, 3 clean runs, 3 triples.. that's why he's ahead of Marcus.

Marcus rails were better than Mark McMo too! But yeah Marcus 1st jump might be a little less hard than Mark 1st jump but Marcus 1st jump was steezy!

Dam tough one to call. I'd still say Marcus won this. Rails were cleaner and more style imo. The jumps were both on par though which I can see people would debate.
The level of progression that snowboarding has reached is unbelievable!
I think it would be dope if one of the snowboarders could do a backside 1600 method. I think it's amazing the degrees of spinning these guys are getting these days. I love watching the X games and seeing all of these competitors progressing over the years. 😁 Each year, the games always turn out epic. And the competitors bring their A game.
I think it says a lot (of good stuff) about the judges that they ranked them this way in the end. They understand there's a fine line between technicality and cleanliness; they don't want to reward huge hucked tricks that aren't properly stomped.
It really shows too when you look at the 2023 competition and how MK's triples were the conventionally harder ones but McMo had but Sparky's rails were cleaner and sightly harder and his QP airtime slightly bigger.

@@LiveRad24 well is there a rule against it? You're in top place and there's like A couple minutes left and next up is the person who went first so everyone would get another go. Instead of doing a full run I would just do a slow run so no one else gets another chance to beat me
Daniel Dhers did just that in bmx park back in the day. He had the lead and celebrated just enough before his last run to run the clock.

this might be a dumb question but when they say switch-"whatever trick" does that always mean right foot forward or does it change if the rider is goofy? and if the latter what's to stop a regular rider for saying they're goofy and just do every thing in switch?
yup you got it! Just switching whatever their normal riding position is regardless of direction

Switch = Opposite of your normal stance.
Regular stance is left foot forward so a regular rider is switch if they are right foot forward.
Goofy stance is right foot forward normally, so going left foot forward is switch for them.

These guys are professionals and are in the public eye. They post tiktoks, instagram stories, etc of their riding. Most fans and the judges are well aware of what stance they ride in, and trying to lie for some extra points in a competition like this would be difficult.
Its almost like trying to convince somebody that you are left handed over right. You might be able to get away with it for a short period of time, but the more people are watching what you are doing it becomes harder to hide which hand you really prefer.

Thug Life was a proposed contract with thugs nationwide to try to help the insane urban situation millions of African Americans face every day. The Black Panthers died because the FBI savagely rooted them out of existence. Thug Life was Tupac Shakur's attempt at helping. Don't get me wrong, "Gangsta," culture & style IS "cool," & permeates American & world culture completely. It found its way into snowboarding long ago (remember the bandanna days?). But not many white people know much about the origins of gangs, the history of the people from gang-infested areas, and the history & movement of a people trying to stand up for themselves. The black community's attempts to better itself in many ways have been sabotaged by white culture & the government itself. Their attempts to work with gangs to stop the violence, protect each other from the police, feed & take care of all children, get people off drugs, fight for equality & the money & life stolen by rich white Americans white culture. What Mons is doing is called "cultural appropriation." I'm not trying to judge him. So I pose this single fact. The millions of disenfranchised people from the "ghetto" represented by things like Thug Life have never ever had the chance to ride a snowboard.
