    Although I've revelled to the sound of his genius guitar work for many years, I really never knew that he was a vocalist, as well. Having heard his voice now, it becomes clear to me why U2 chose him to produce two of their most famous albums: The Unforgettable Fire ('84) and The Joshua Tree ('87). It wouldn't surprise me at all to learn that Bono and Co. "borrowed" a thing or two from Daniel to get to where they are.

      Larry Mullen Jr played drums and Adam Clayton played bass on this track in the studio.
      A fan of U2 since October (the album), I'd say Eno and Lanois had a tremendous influence on U2. Helped them grow you their full potential.
      So...my take is that Lanois is a great producer--listen to U2's pre-Lanois albums. And then listen to other albums produced by Lanois (Hothouse Flowers HOME comes to mind, Ron Sexsmith, etc.).
      I don't think anyone is stealing from anyone. Lanois is known for creating this particular sound.
      I suppose what I'm saying is Lanois producing U2, Dylan, et al., was a tremendous meeting of musical genius minds. I believe they all influenced each other.
      But no stealing or ripping off.
      ;)

    • @BHAKTIBROPHY
      @BHAKTIBROPHY Před 9 lety +4

      I apologize for the typo.
      By the way, I was in no way knocking U2's early work. I still listen to those albums to this day. But Eno and Lanois definitely influenced them, and, as great producers do, helped them to expand and grow.
      Cheers.
