No light smear of copper ease grease on the hub or alloy wheel face where it meets the hub ? My dad always taught me to put a light smear of copper ease where the alloy meets the hub and never had a jammed alloy or issues with grease on the brakes in over 30 years. .
Wheels are OK for track but don’t suit the car otherwise - my opinion anyway. But they are relatively good value. I would fit locking wheel bolts or you may wake up 3.30 one morning like I did to find a rock instead of a wheel. I now fit an extra set of locking bolts as the factory one didn’t seem to stop them. Good luck with the 50k subscribers.
The black wheels are gorgeous. My only beef with black rims is that they can make the tyres look a bit scruffy 😉
Thanks! The tyres looked bad before I dressed them as you probably saw. Feels wrong dressing a track tyre but if I didn’t I’d be told off in comments 😆👍
The wheels look great, but I must admit I’m not a fan of black on black. I think they would look better on either a grey or white colour golf.
Always thought it would be better if there would be no need of USB cable and just go bluetooth

As a lot of the other comments about black alloys being peoples least favourite, and then saying it looks good I would have to concur with them as it looks a lot better on the black r360 as it’s sets the red brake callipers off a treat. 👍

Black on red for the Porsche looked good but black on black on the Golf, there is no contrast, silver looked much better, plus looks a bit "gangsta" if you know what I mean.
I know exactly what you mean, the black wheels have change an otherwise classy looking Golf into a McDonalds car park special. I like it but I don’t like that I like it if that makes sense😆
Funny stuff with VWRetrofit guy, little surprising he would say it was done goodbye (and saying there was no worry about the USB port), only for then that to be the case.. Ive had some weird interactions with him too on other things I wanted fitted, I guess this kind of solidifies my concerns
I still feel that the prets in the stock silver color looks much more attractive then any other aftermarket on the mk7’s

Preferred the smoky silver, but it’s not my car - personally I don’t like black car and black wheels.
Not so sure if i'd be happy if my tyre fitter used metal tyre lever wrapped in paper/ cloth on my brand new alloys!! You can get plastic levers now but even so my tyre fitter has been using a leverless non touching machine for at least 10 yrs. I would never take it to somebody using a lever these days no matter what
I think black wheels Look the Best on a Grey, anthracite or gunmetal car colour

Just out of interest what profile are on the alloys? Are it a 40 or 35 sidewall ?
I have tried to stick to 18s or 17s on my cars just out of pure comfort in London unless the car has had adaptive suspension.
I'm on 245-40-18s on my 2009 a4 s-line and wouldn't dare go 19's if I wanted a style upgrade.
Love the content all around on your channel and the sheer effort you put into filming.
Questions 2 also - Do you plan to sling some Audi content on the channel too in the future considering they share bundles of stuff across the VAG group?

The tyres are 235 35 19 so the same size as factory, the CSS isn't too stiff thanks to Dcc adaptive dampers. It's far more comfortable than a CS Edition 40 on 19s and passive dampers which surprised me! I bought one to sell thinking it could be a CSS on the cheap but my god was that hard!
Audi content is always on the cards but will be sporadic as don't really run one and press loans are as easy as they once were not least because due to sodding EVs, most launches now are cars that don't excite me or I suspect my audience.
I should film a farewell RS6 video and Mrs. C's TT is still here and due a tyre upgrade which will create content. Also I fancy buying a Mk1 TT to keep but not sure when that will be. Stay tuned though and thank you 🙌🏻

The wheel design suits the car very well, black looks very purposeful. My personal preference would be lighter such as a graphite or gold, gold would look amazing!

Love the look for YOUR car, suits it's looks an purpose well. I've a black R estate and would choose them wheels in silver to match the brightwork. EV11 DUB is great would love that plate for one of my cars. It would match my WH05 DUB 🙃

Interesting seeing how you feel about the mk8, I’ve been contemplating changing my 7.5 pre PPF to a mk8 R but the more time goes by the more I’m less keen
I wouldn't buy a Mk8 now because VW have shown over the 2.5 years since launch that they really aren't too bothered about fixing the issues for the UK market. I don't mind getting faults to start off with but I'd expect some major campaign to sort them out as quickly as possibly. I gave up when I saw a tech bulletin saying VW won't fix the KPH/MPH bug because it's caused by people doing a hard reset of holding down the power button so they are fixing the issues that lead to that. I didn't reset head unit and still got the KPH/MPH issues so they were never going to sort that on that basis
@@volkswizard yeah the whole touch buttons have put me off. Mine is standard but had big spec, Akrapovic, leather, perf pack, sunroof etc so I’m not really keen in letting it go for 10-20 bhp and a fancy diff
Gold wheels on a black car look good. Can’t really see the detail on a black wheel.
Looks not too bad. Not always a fan of black on black as the wheels sometimes get lost. Gloss black is definitely nicer than Matt black. I’m current trying to decide on what colour to refurb the Santiago’s on my 16 GTI performance pack as the diamond cut has some defects. Gunmetal is my 1st choice. Gloss Black with red pin stripe is an idea in my head.
Regards the USB port on our 66 plate GTI pp that had CarPlay it will only work with the USB port in the air rest cubbyhole. I may try change the other see if it works with that
Looks good, definitely take the torque bar to the ring and check the nuts after a few laps! I used to air down the tyres a couple of PSI too you probably know this from track experience! Also recommend Feredo DS2500 pads!
Thanks Bogged, all good advice. TBH the Supersport R are just for the UK track day in 2 weeks, having driven them in rain today, I'm not keen to drive across Belgium on them, this was part of the reason why I never went to 'ring on my first Clubsport S which was factory fitted with Michelin semi-slicks. The Supersport is well up the job on the 'ring with a novice like me and can still do heavy rain just fine. Good tip re torque bar, had one come loose on that car when I took winter tyres off, very frustrating to not have a brace of any sort in that situation!
@@volkswizard No worries! Ahh fair enough. I used to run r888's Spring to Autumn, they were lethal in the wet. I had a wheel come loose once as I forgot to retorque after a spirited Touristenfahrten weekend.. learnt my lesson there.

Question r.e. Android auto. Had it activated but it drops out regularly over bumpy roads. I've replaced everything from the phone, cable and USB port but no joy. Any further suggestions? 66' plate R
I've got that too and I am going back for a new USB port. Did you replace USB port when it was activated and if so have you tried another?
@volkswizard no, it was done by VW and the original port was the correct one (like the one supplied in this video). I've replaced the USB port since then to attempt to rectify the situation but no joy

Andrew, is the roof spoiler standard or aftermarket?
That's standard on a Clubsport (Edition 40 and S), part of the aero package front and rear which stops the car lifting at high speed, something hatchbacks are bad for
Looks great Andrew! Fantastic on both wheels to be fair, but a bit more aggressive with the black on black! ps, I really do love the Clubsport S discs too, I've fitted them on my 7.5 R Estate!

That seat cover is Quantum from VW but I've just installed a more fitted one but it keeps on pulling up at the base when I sit on it. So neither are that great, if I had to buy one it'd be this www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350978367823

Always liked the RL360s.However personally not a great fan of black wheels, particularly on a black car

Very handy to know about vw retrofit as I only live in Alcester an look to get carplay 👌 love the wheel setup but think silver would look cleaner but all personal preference 👍
Black on black looks great. When I had a GTI, it had OZ Superturismo in black. I think it makes the car look lower and more sportier looking
The black definitely looks racier, with silver wheels the CSS can look like a normal GTI driven by a solictor/accountant/doctor, with black wheels it's definitely more 'street'
Personally I love those wheels Andrew. I had a black mk4 gti on black BBS RC wheels. It reminds me very much of that!
When I first looked at the black wheel I wasn’t sure if they would suit the car however I must admit they do make the car look mean.
Quite fancy a set of R360’s for my Clubsport when it eventually gets built 😩

Very nice wheels, black on black looks bad ass.. I am an OEM guy myself, so I got a set of Clubsport Belvedere wheels for my Mk7.0 GTI PP. These are the lightest rims (forged alloy, not casted) that VW has on offer and weigh (with a fresh Michelin PS4 tire) in at 17.8kg. They only come in 18 inch unfortunately but from unspring weight point-of-view the best choice..
The Belvedere/Quaranta is a cool wheel, just a shame they don't do them with a bit more offset to fill the arch

In my opinion, there is no easy answer for color of the wheel. Some color combination works with one and not with other

The R360 wheels are awesome - I like how open the design is, really shows off the callipers and discs. Black seems to do a great job of hiding the design of the Brescia wheels on my edition 40 which is a bit of a shame, though I think this is the perfect compromise, if I ever have to swap or buy new wheels I'll definitely be considering these
Not a super fan of black wheels. It hides all the details in the wheels. I like bronze wheels on dark colored cars...and gunmetal (darker shade of your typical silver) on lighter color cars.
Agreed, I think when black works on a car it makes up for the detail loss by simply looking amazing, not always the case though. You'll like the wheel colour on my Carmine Red Boxster 👍🏻👍🏻

Main dealer prices for after market wheels are really offensive. Okay if you get them when you order the car. But I agree with your selection. I've looked at wheels at my local dealer down under. Sometimes they are on special!. Hmmm. Sticking with my 17s on my MkV.
It was £900 ish to upgrade to Pretorias from 18" Cadiz when Golf 7R was released, imagine cost of having to replace 4 buckled wheels 😲

Agreed but the suspension setup has been honed by some clever dudes so would be a shame to mess around. On a normal Clubsport, especially without DCC, it’s easier to justify mods 👍

Great update and good to see you cleaning up the hardware - car looks brilliant with both wheels yet the track spec stance is more aggressive- matt bronze always looks good on red or black cars imho and red calipers add to the detail - looking forward seeing the Boxster wheels 👍🎯👏

They didn't last long on the car - they really are just to fit the track tyres to, I prefer the original look as it's a lot classier (even though black wheels were available on Clubsport Edition 40 and Clubsport S in Germany)

I have some good news, it was done by a previous owner, full front end including all of the wings. It's part of the reason why I'm not so worried about using it and not afraid to enjoy it as I was with my first one 👍🏻
