I remember my mom making these. They were out of this world!! She served them with applesauce. Needless to say, we all cleaned our plates! Thanks for the memory. Good times around the table when everyone was present...👍❤
Ma'am, this is a nice recipe, I'm Irish & if you want these to really taste good fry them in bacon fat, then they will be perfect & that also works for for fried cornbread batter if you have never tried fried cornbread
Tis far from olive oil we were reared!
@@gerardacronin334 I also my friend, I'm 59 yrs old & my family is from rural S/E Kentucky, hunting & cooking since I was 9 yrs old, we fried almost everything in bacon/pork/beef/chicken fat, no olive/vegetable/canola oil, we did make our own corn oil from just the cobs, kernels & corn milk we're eaten, husks we're wrapped with beans, potatoes, etc...& eaten like tamales in Mexico. We had outhouses, cobs we're dried in the sun & I think you will know what for as they were placed in the outhouse after dried, we wasted nothing.
Did she incorporate cornmeal w pancake mixture
@@gerardacronin334 a lump of lard in a greasy pan - is your only man
Hi Laura! Azy here from Singapore. Been watching your channel since I was 11 years old, now I'm turning 18! Since you love potatoes, why not give korean potato pancakes a go? I think you would love it as much as you love Boxty! Let me know how it goes!
This brings back memories for me. I remember Mom making potato pancakes and now I love cooking them too!!! Yummy
I usually just make potato pancakes with grated potato, egg, and onion. This looks fantastic and I will try making them this weekend ☺️
As an Irish girl, I absolutely LOVE boxty!! Can't wait to try this recipe!
My sister would make these with just an egg in the left over mashed potatoes, and I still think of them!
Great memories.
Thank you Laura
❤ Joe😊
i grew up on this stuff, ive never heard an irish person outside my family call it boxty, let alone a 'Vitale'! amazing
This was one of the first recipes I was taught. I have made this so many times I could do it in my sleep. Thanks for sharing.
These pancakes look absolutely delicious and yummy 😋! Thank you for sharing Laura! 🙏
Good job on the Boxty Laura!
“Boxty on the griddle, boxty on the pan; if you can't make boxty, you'll never get your man”.
Looks delicious! Definitely going to make! Thank you Laura!
☘☘☘The old Irish rhyme is: "Boxty on the griddle; boxty on the pan. If you can't make boxty, you'll never get a man!"☘☘☘
My favorite potato dish for St. Patrick's Day is Colcannon
These look great. Thanks for sharing this
Thank you for doing these Irish foods.
Another great recipe Laura 👌❤
An Irish pub in Minneapolis makes these with a little shredded chicken. So so good
Looks good! I will definitely make these.
These were great. Thank you so much.
Thank you for sharing the yummy reciepe 🥰
These are Hanukah latkes with an Irish twist. Delicious.
They look amazing ..🤤🤤
What a beautiful pancake. These look so delicious. We are English Irish. My dad put shredded cheese in them as well. Amazing. Love watching your videos. Thank you for sharing
What kind of shredded cheese?! That sounds delightful!
this potatoes recipe looks so delicious
That looks good! You just kicked me um...to the delish zone! Always ready to taste new dishes! Yummy, yum! Doing the airfry way! Waving to you from south Georgia-land of best Peaches, boiled Peanuts, & Vidalia onions!
Respect to our Irish neighbors here in Scotland making our version "tattie scones" 🤗
Looks delicious! You should make irish potato bread or as I grew up calling it Slim, it's my favourite!
It does look interesting. I'd make this.
Looks like a great breakfast dish for St. Patrick's Day morning with bangers ! Thank you for this recipe🍀
Try and find some. Clonakilty Black Pudding. It’s blood sausage. Absolutely delicious.
Wow amazing
You have these recipes covered beautifully Laura.
We do like our spuds in 🇨🇮
Ivory coast?
I love you guys so much ❤️❤️
Yummy!
Good afternoon and yummy !!
Looks so delicious 😋
Nice job 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
We always ate ours with apple sauce!
I love you so much Laura❤️❤️
Yaaay thank you just bought a bunch of potatoes on sale and don't know what to do with them yet
we make these in Russia too, so good!
C'mon Laura, you are Mrs Spud. You must show us all how to make "Champ" Hello from Donegal, lovev your channel. Xxx go for it!
I make a version of these solely with leftover Yukon gold mashed potatoes, egg, flour, whatever seasoning you want, diced cheese and jalapeno. I serve them with salmon patties.
Can you please show us how to make a Sicilian Cassata cake for Easter? Minus the marzipan. Thank you!
I don’t care for buttermilk…will it’s flavor be noticeable? Thank you….these look marvelous!!
Oh wow! This is different than my first boxty experience. It was closer to an omlet, but sub hash browns for eggs. It was a pub in Oklahoma, so I’m not claiming authenticity or anything. Lol
Interesting!
👍for rhyming 😂 you make me laugh Laura😂
So weird that I found your CZcams channel for cooking , use to follow your cooking videos then lost sight of them and yesterday looking for a video to make BBQ chicken 🐔 I found, one of your video .. jajajaaa then I subscribe 🤪
Luv all things potatoes, think it's the Irish in me.
It would be handy to have quantities (grams) as I am not very good at guessing. I am so wanting to try them
Hi, Laura! I’d love to know what kind of pan you made these in! I’m making them right now and have tried a non-stick and stainless steel both with sunflower oil and both pans are a mess :(. The crunchy brown bits are delicious but I can’t flip them without a disaster.
I've heard teflon is a good non-stick
possible with regular milk?
i need to learn a lot from you. evaluate my work
How do I get the recipe for the potatoes
😋😋
Salmon burgers please!!
I'm gonna try it with sour cream and cheddar cheese.
This is very similar to the German pancake recipe. I would serve these with applesauce
Boxty on the griddle
Boxty in the pan
If a colleen can’t make Boxty
She’ll never get a man
Hahahah I love that
@@LauraintheKitchen My Irish Nana taught me that ❤️
That's a good one.
My mom use to make these she called them potato cakes
😋😋😋😋😋
Hello cox dali görünür 😋👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Can we get the measurements please!!!!!
Potato bread (aka farles)
For better taste - fry in Lard.
Breakfast tomorrow baby
So good!!
This recipe is almost like Polish Potato Pancakes (Placki Ziemniaczane) minus the eggs. Been making them for years but with shredded potatoes. Those look runny in the middle. And never, for me, of sour cream. Always til the day I die it will be with grape jelly!
Was the shredded potato cooked or not ?
It was not cooked prior to shredding
@@treon8626 ... I watched this twice and didn't see where the mashed potatoes were added.
@@ohioguy215 True. It would have to be added once everything is combined
@@treon8626 Thanks >
Yes I looked up another recipe ans it was fresh
Do Latin food Laura 😋
How is the Baby. Haven’t seen her in awhile
Spud love 💍😂
They look similar to hash browns.
those are also called latkes
They are nothing like Latkes. At all.
What are "leftover" mashed potatoes!???
Nooo way, in my country we are making Lithuanian potato pancakes that are much more tasty! Just fresh graded potatoes, adding finely cut onion, 1 egg, salt and pepper, mix all together and cook in a pan. Much tastier and more healthy, Irish people adore it when they come here! Nooo for soda and no to flour. Serving with sour cream or Greek yoghurt, or sauce from fried small pieces of bacon or with smoked salmon and sauce made of curd mixed with a bit of yoghurt salt pepper and dill.
Oh no the Germans
Serve applesauce with it yummy .
☘️ 💚🍀”Top of the afternoon ta ya”; with our St. Patty’s Day just around the corner, this is a great version of the famous ☘️Irish Potato pancakes; Irish or Not? What is politically correct is to use the full Name and not slang; “☘️ St. Patrick’s Day”.
It is Paddy's Day when you shorten St Patrick's Day even though it sounds like a ''T'' it's a ''D''
@@inal9643 Yeah I know, it’s a short form used as well; google it!
From an irish person born and bred, no one in ireland says st pattys day- that's an Americanism as are the cereal lucky charms and the phrase top of the morning to u... In ireland it's called St Paddys day 💚
A patty is a cake of food, such as a hamburger. Our saint is Paddy.
@@umrumr9453 check your spelling!
You look exactly like grace from peaky blinders with brown hair 😳
OMG... Metal utensils in a non-stick pan...
Well for God's sake, where's the recipe?
Bad recipe for Boxtys..
Love your recipes, BUT you talk too fast at the end of all your videos. I have no idea what you're saying. Please speak slower.
