STUUUUUUU!! Such a great bass player and this is a cool version of a classic LedZep tune
I wish he'd get back with Satch.
So cool to see you here! I am a fan of your channel. Stu is the man!
Much Love to you Stu. Thanks for all the years of great bass playing. Live in San Fran with Joe... still one of the best albums I have.
New fan. I came across this cruising around the internet and I found the rendition of this song simply wonderful. Great job Stu.
This is Stuart Hamm's instrumental cover of the Led Zeppelin classic Going to California from their untitled fourth album. He plays that classic skilfukly and with such dexterity. Why he can do it like that? Because he is simply the best. Stuart Hamm is the best bass guitar player on Earth, period. The greatest bass player in history. That is all.
Thanks for sharing don't get enough of Stu.
I love stu, seen him with satch and he was amazing!
Always had a love for Stu. This is a great cover.
Absolutely amazing!! Your the best Stu!! You have helped shape the bass player in me and so many others !! We love you !!
AWESOME!
Gracias Stu por esta magnifica version de uno de los mejores temas de mi vida. Me emocionó de verdad. Desde esta parte del Mundo mis agradecimientos!!!!!
The fucking power he has in his fingers....
I've seen Stu several times with Joe Satriani. One of the greatest bass players.
Good Stuff. I've always loved this song.
Astounding!
very beautiful, i always love your style. bravo stuuuuuu
LORN LEBER on GUITAR!!! This is so crazy, I just heard Steve Vai (and Jude Gold) talking about how Lorn was the BEAST guitarist at BERKLEE in the 70's. Lorn is an underground fusion guitar legend in California. He is just finally starting to get the recognition and fame that HE DESERVES. But Vai says that Lorn Leber can pick faster than Yngwie, and Vai couldn't even hold a candle to the guy. Seriously, he needs to have more videos out there. Check out the NAMM performance he did with his band "Jolomy" a couple years ago.
Lorn is a legend! We play at the same church in the SF Bay area, I hope he posts more videos soon, there are a few floating around there.
Not familiar with Lorn Leber. Thanks for the info! Definitely gonna check out that NAMM performance.
Amazing player, all class.
Heck....I'm stealing this solo, sound so good.
I saw him do this as a bass clinic/gig in Sydney Australia and when heard it I said thats it I give up that is amazing. I would like to be as gifted as this man.
Stu rules!
what a legend
Grande Hamm! Que trayectoria impecable!
Beautiful.
stunning, mood for days
Love the tone from a Hartke.
Beautiful
there are few musicians i respekt more than myself, STUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU, is one of them!!!
Inspirational!
fantastic
that bass sound is so clean
Perfect. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I feel the guitar and where superfluous on this
Magnífico
Thank UUU STUUU!
You the man Hamm Stu!
master the master....
Stu, That Was Great Man, Thanks, for the video.. I Feel that more bands need the Bass player out front taking over the spot that normally the 6 string guitar players have had for 50 years, and the 6 stringers play to the Bass player.. It is time to turn it around a bit, Cheers, Cousin Figel
it will all work out in the end
💛
In the mid 80's my then-girlfriend percussionist went on the road with Stu. The band was David and David.
I remember those guys.
This is so cool
Damn.... wow !
Sweetness ;-)
He did this at a gig/clinic and I said thats it for I don't know how to play bass at all. He is good and when he pops and slaps he is the best there is. I know others will challenge me but he is tight melodic and sounds like a song not a mess like others.
Amazing performance but I think Stu should try out stingrays for such tunes
the Kubicki's are still awesome. Stingrays are great, Modulus flea basses are nice, similar, but have the carbon.
@@ShuKatashSam man, i like Stingrays but Modulus are way better, apart from the carbon.
at least this is just my opinion based on some personal tests :)
ah wait, i didn' t try the Modulus flea bass but the quantum !
Damn...very solid
way to go Stu '
Sensacional 👏👏👏👏
Such Good Stuff................
Hi Stu from Catalina! Great stuff!
Damn fine work.
God damn that was good.
WoWoWOWOWOOWoWoOWoWoW!!!!
He played what he wanted to play, not what the song needed him to play. Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.
So rad. :-)
Great. Man. !!!!*
that was tasty.
Man, Bill goldberg really chilled out in his older years
I think he looks like a heavy set Plant here. Wonder if they looked similar when they were younger.
When are you getting back with Satch?
LoudNProud Bryan Beller is with satch at the moment and he's amazing.
Not anytime soon I guess czcams.com/video/jrbj-YRRnng/video.html
what is the line-up here?
Unbelievable anybody thought about doing this song on the bass…Wow
wish Warwick would bring back their streamer pro M version with active humbucking Mec element, fuller sound.
Warwick... nuff said.
please upload the vídeo with Jake Pitts & Jinxx 😭😭
right? ive been waiting for so long
Also been waiting since he announced it in the livestream
+Malachi Shanks 😞
River rat sent me 🙌
Can't please everyone... With that said, I thought it was a pleasing performance xD
what is this bass?
oh yeah ww but what model some custom i guess
Pessoal, que baixo é esse?
warwick...nao sei o modelo
Is the fret buzz intentional?
Some players just like their action to be as low as possible. I honestly don't know how they tolerate it. I'm not even that good but I have to have my action higher than that; that's just messy with all of that fret buzz.
+DrUSSRBear I agree I don't mind the playing or tone but the buzz is very prominent!
I suspect that they raveled from somewhere with a different climate, or maybe Stu had to use a different string gauge than usual, or both. Whatever the reason, the bass seems to have several setup problems. The fret buzz, Stu seems to have trouble fretting notes (I've heard and seen him do this a bunch of other times perfectly), and the intonation is off considerably.
Where is Jake Pitts and Jinxx video?
Same. I've been waiting for it for weeks. He said they were gonna film it next week in his signature guitar reveal and that was a month ago. Get your shit together emg. We want the Jake an Jinxx video.
Those are hard bass lines.
what i notice;; stu doesn't interact with those guys - they are playing on top of him instead of with him.
that low E does sound awesome though!
Notice how the bass needs nothing at the beginning
Warwick without Mec Pickups??
Pense em um caboclo bom .
EMG is like the DW in drums
then AMPEG is like the fender in bass amplifiers
Stuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu........
Мне сначала показалось, что Петруччи на барабанах))) Что это за Варвик кстати?
Sounds like given to fly de Pearl Jam
Stu Hamm is one hot daddy! 😍
2:47
Damn!
Need moar Chorus!
Stu is such a hot daddy 😍
It sounded fan-fuckin'-tastic, until the guitarist took over. Then it became generic. Stu should fire this guy, seriously. He deserves better - hell, he was in Satch's band, for fuck sake!
The guitarist knew how to play to be fair
Damn straight. Perhaps it was his tone? Or maybe the fact that, in a way, the guitar and bass have swapped roles to create this? If I try to compare directly to the original then the whole thing seems off-set, if I just listen, then it all fits together nicely.
The reason is: pentatonic scale. Stu's melodies were complex and classy, while the guitarist's were straight up & down blues penta. Boring an unfit for the song.
The guitarist isn't bad! It fit the song, no need to show off your string-skipped harmonic minor licks on a simple blues rock tune.
I'm sure Grammy winning guitar virtuoso, Frank Gambale will pleased to know you think he's "not bad".
You're right, I don't think he's bad! He's fantastic! Just felt like defending the dude in this video (Lorn Leber?) who is catching some flak from some others in these comments. :)
+Kyle Newman That isn't Frank Gambale in the video....
Nothing about this is blues.
He looks like Robert plant
Stu is great but I do not like the way his bass sounds. too much treble.
lets hear your dynamic bass tone bro.. oh wait
psyber84 yeah well said. I wanted to make a similar comment but not brave enough. 😂
No Treble
it's all good brother
You don’t need that much treble to cut through and he’s louder than everyone, so what does he need to cut through ? More lower mids and less treble. He’s awesome but I’d like to hear it with a warmer tone.
He played with Caifanes for a little while
Stu is magnificent, but his Kubicki Factor bass sounded way better than this one
Pretty bad playing with bad sync between hands and annoying sliding sounds. Stu Hamm should try out the better flatwound or tapewound strings - they save from annoying sounds and are easier on the fingers.
Cool idea, but Bass sounds like ass and out of tune at the high range.
Well he is a great musician, however the guitar's upper horn looks like a penis. I know you guys are going to say I am off the mark, but it is important to pay attention to the guitar shape in addition to sound:)
It literally doesn't.
you are suggesting the guitar sounds like a penis
It looks AND sounds exactly like my penis. When I hit the play button I was confused. I thought I lost it and Stu found it then started slappin it, but to my relief ol Willy was still exactly where I left him.
esse EMG tem cada musico chato
mess.
Every guitarist can play that
Good for you
From the guy who just uploads shitty gameplays...
Michael Lorenz nothing interesting in my life to upload entertaining videos for you
Congratulations you made the guitar sound so sterile and unlike a guitar than I have ever heard! Are you playing through a pedal that makes you sound like a Muzak in an elevator?
Cool bass solo! Lose those other guys, they’re not helping
the sound he made when sliding his hands really anoyying to me it made me cringed
but he kept playing
Not bad but lost me when the tempo went up.
Apparently the bassist forget he's not the lead guitarist.
Malachi Shanks have you heard when he's actually playing bass with Satch and Vai? he's absolutely amazing.
Sounds like tin strings it ain't no John Paul jones , Carol Kaye or John Patitucci sorry I would keep trying never give up.
An on the note of the actual video. This is what's wrong with music. There's a fine line between being a good bass player and shitting excessive notes out of your bass. The bass is made to keep low, lock with the drums, and add low end to the guitar. It's the bridge between drums and guitar. It's called bass for a fucking reason. Those harmonics and that melody are not what bass is meant to be. If he wanted to play high notes he should've played guitar instead.
there's something called imagination people use to play their instrument.
+niucix manus then they should play their instrument instead of spewings shit out of an amplifier
+Malachi Shanks there it is the thing, you consider this shit but there are many people that think its really good.
+niucix manus yes but the bassist missed the point. It's called bass. Not lead guitar.
No you are what's wrong with music. Who are we to dictate how someone else should play an instrument? If you don't like it then cool, that's your opinion and it's your right to have it. Music is subjective and every musician is free to do whatever he wants. I personally like this, it's a refreshing break from the usual guitar shredding. Yes the bass is meant to lock in with the drums and provide the low end but when that's all a bass player does, well that's just boring. Things like this show that there is more to the bass than just riding the root notes in a song for 4 minutes. Just my two cents.
