    HISTORY
The history of Asmara dates back to 800BC according to Eritrean Tigrayan oral tradition history. It was initially occupied by 4 clans. These lived in conflict and kept receiving attacks from the nearby clans. The women proposed that the 4 clans come together to fight against these external clans. This is where the word 'Asmara' came from basically meaning 'They all came together'.
Asmara only became the Eritrean capital in 1900. and it was officially recognized in 1993 after Eritrea gained her independence from Ethiopia in 1991.
    PEOPLE AND CULTURE
Asmara has a population of One million people with the official languages being Tigrinya, English and Arabic. The other languages spoken include; Afar, Tigre, Beja, Bilen, Kunama, Nara and Saho. The women population in the city is 3 times that of the men.
In the city you can also find great cuisines both local and exotic. The city is also defined by great Italian architecture that has been preserved for generations.
    TRANSPORT
If you're to move from one part to another of Asmara city, you can either use a bus or hire a private driver to take you around the city. The fares are totally negotiable.
    BEST ATTRACTIONS
    For the best plaes to visit, you could check out any of the following;
    - The Eritrea National Museum( You need to acquire a permit for this)
    - The city Park ( Great for relaxation)
    - The market. This happens every day except for Sundays
    ECONOMY
The Eritrean economy is one of the strongest on the African continent with the Eritrean currency the Eritrean Nafka. The Nafka lies 6th among the strongest currencies on the African continent and 1USD=1ERN.
The economy depends on cash crops and animal husbandry products such as meat and other dairy products. The city also depends on Mining and exporting of these minerals such as Gold, Granite, Copper, Marble, Potash, etc...
The city also depends on the tourism sector. The city itself is a UNESCO world heritage site because of its reserved old Italian Architectural buildings.

This country is ruled by a filthy dictator and those with him from his party say in the constitutionality of their party justice and democracy, and they are far from that, the yin of heaven and earth is a party. Liar years of rule without any elections, their ugliness, the wretched, the independence of Eritrea from 1993 until now. There is no civilized development. It is like the state. It is like the jungle of the people. The people are sad from the extreme poverty. There are countries that have been liberated and are now industrialized countries that produce and make their people more developed. From Eritrea to emigrate, the state has become a beggar. Why is it because it rejects development and military rule does not look for the origin of investment and education? If you were looking for the reason for closing universities, you would be surprised by the answers of the despicable people from this filthy ruling party

I like Ethiopian people 100x more, they are more social, more mundane and less peasant. My experience with Eritreans: they hate people who come from another country and even talk on the other side of the world, only their own obscure language . Everyone feels alone with you because you are terrible nationalists. I've been to other countries in Africa, but never seen anything like it.They chatter about Iritrea, but have the same culture as Ethiopia.Same food, same religion. Independent of Mengustu in the 90's and how ironic, now they have a dictatorship and so many young people flee to Europe. Proud of Italian occupation, what a joke.

The says "systematic, widespread and gross human rights violations." “Those who attempt to flee the country are considered "traitors," and there is a shoot-to-kill policy on the border.” Have fun there. He subjugated the Tigray people for many generations, and it wasn't until the Derg who were a collection of Ethnic Liberation Fronts fought to Overthrow Haile Selassie did Ethiopia finally become more free, BUT EVEN THE DERG TURNED INTO TYRANTS waging the same Genocidal Tyranny on the people which is how they also were Overthrown and Replaced with the current Ethiopian Government who in turn has overthrown the Tigray who were waging years of Genocide and Domination against many Ethiopians. _Ethiopia is a Nation who since Ancient Times values FREEDOM and Independence and we show this with our Blood, Sweat, and Tears and with each new Government we learn DEEP lessons about why Rights & Freedoms are important and what's going on NOW within Ethiopia is just another Life Lesson for our Ancient Nation to learn with respect to Embracing Greater Freedom and Sovereignty._

There’s literally no crime in Asmara. And Violent crimes aren't an issue in Eritrea. You can relax and walk around Eritrea carefree and not think about crime. Still, avoid dark streets and remote areas that you wouldn't go into even in your own country.
