Left handed drill bits saved the day after a WRONG torque setting broke a bolt in my Honda Odyssey!

  • In this video, I explain the process I went through to remove a broken bolt from my 2005 Honda Odyssey EX-L's spool valve / VVT solenoid. Unfortunately, another CZcams video cited the torque setting as being 16 ft. lb., but trying to get to that setting in my application snapped the bolt and left a stud in the aluminum threads.
According to an OdyClub post I started, that was NOT the correct torque setting - and others unfortunately encountered the same issue (thread is here for reference): www.odyclub.com/threads/broke...

The exact same thing just happened to me, and the Irwin left handed drill bits did the trick too. Another set I had was worthless. I ordered a new bolt, still waiting for it to arrive, hoping it is correct. Where did you get the bolt replacement?

Doh!! Glad to hear the Irwin set worked for you too! I ordered the bolts from my local dealership, 2 bucks a pop. Interestingly, they were a liiiittle bit shorter than the …OEM, OEM? Haha. But, I’m sure it’s fine.
