I enjoyed the shit out of this episode!
I’m 44 and have been doing CrossFit since 2012. I love the results I’ve gotten and the things that I can do, pretty much anything! That being said, I’m on the same page as you in the addition of accessory/body building as well as the long lower intensity stuff. I’m somewhat addicted to “the programming” and it has been challenging to add it in correctly, but im trying… It is my belief that what you are talking about will become the popular programming of the future! Have a great day fellas!

Is the program incomplete? OR do the practitioners need to be reminded of specifics of the program such that they don’t ignore parts of the program or supplement properly to minimize their weaknesses?
Background: Level 1 Cert /CF Endurance / CF Oly with Burg - So I am beyond amateur compared to you OGs and thus, asking with utmost respect.
You say the program is incomplete because CFs “goal is to maximize power output” - implication that it ignores or doesn’t put enough focus on Aerobic pathways.… but haven’t you left out the other necessary component of this programs charter that’s clearly stated right up front? - ‘across broad TIME and MODAL DOMAINS”!
Isn’t it the practitioners who take less seriously and ignore the long end of the time domain? Hasn’t Glassman said on camera many times that ignoring any weakness is at your own peril and decreasing your overall fitness? Of course.
I don’t look at the programming (particularly in the BOX) as a way to maximize all time and modalities. I see it as a way to a) Build GPP and b) recognize where my weakness are - so that I can address them - in AND OUT OF the box!
I’ve never seen a box with a pool in it, but no one would argue that CrossFit doesn’t think swimming is necessary or program for it. Case in point… www.crossfit.com/search/swim
I needed to go and take an Oly course - I saw my main man Mike Burgener.
I’m a huge dude with knee issues from hooping for years and so my LSD sucks… I went on my own time and outside of the gym and did the CF Endurance course with Mark Homan and Rich Airey to work on it. I added road biking, mountain biking and mountain climbing.
You can’t swim in the class!! So, I signed up for the NYC Triathlon and booked some time with a swim coach to help me shrink the chinks in my armor.
CrossFit specifically calls for you to be adding that training into YOUR programming - as the OPEN SOURCE program it is - as part of “the learn new sports” component of the Fitness in 100 words.
If you don’t have a powerful aerobic base, YOU should be adding mountain climbing and road biking and marathoning into YOUR programming… just like the dude who was the cross country champion needs to go take a Ripetoe Course!
Isn’t that ~exactly~ the “Program” of CrossFit. Not just what’s happening in the box or according to the Main Site of the programming… but by following the template Coach put forward, in the box and in life in general?

Incredibly well said! It's very irresponsible to label the all encompassing holy grail of fitness as incomplete. How about "Some CF gyms can do a better job programming".

Finally somebody had the guts to say it. CrossFit has brought back into the general population circuit training and some cool training practices normally reserved to athletes. But it is not the best and only methodology

Curious where Matt gets his BPC-157? It's tough to know who to trust because there are SO many suppliers out there and who knows what is actually in their supplements.

This is a great podcast but the amount of CZcams ads attached to it is unbearable. Idk if you guys can address it at your level but holy cow it was hard to listen to and stay engaged with the 15 ads in and hour podcast.
