In the latest episode of "Luke makes very risky videos", Luke learns the stages transgender man go through to transition // I hope this video taught you some of the serious efforts people go to to become who they truly are, and that you didn't take our messing around as an attack on people in a very vulnerable situation. It is my belief that to truly bring new ideas into society, you need to be able to joke with your friends and test their strength.. I just do that in front of an awful lot of people!

as a trans person i cracked up at the button down shirt, so many trans masc people wear button downs with patterns hahahaha. i appreciate this video, i enjoy lighthearted content that also tackles trans issues - we’re faced with so much serious and scary shit all the time and sometimes it just gets exhausting watching so many emotional videos about trans stuff. this is a breath of fresh air.
some side notes! a lot of trans people, including myself, prefer the terms AFAB (assigned female at birth) and AMAB (assigned male at birth) instead of “born female” or “born male”! it’s just more accurate. i wasn’t born anything, doctors just had a wee look at me and went “sure that’s a girl”.
it’s also important to remember that not all trans people transition the same way - we don’t all go on hormones, have gender affirmation surgery, bind and wear packers etc, personally i’m doing all of those things but everyone’s experience is different. and lastly, not all trans people identify as male or female, some of us fall outside the binary.
but yeah, lovely video luke! don’t worry about not using the proper terms or offending people, the majority of trans people will just laugh it off, maybe correct you and move on. it’s a learning experience for all of us!! we’ll just be happy you’re trying. 💜💜

Advice to all trans boys: Please don't ever use tape or bandages to binder. It's not safe at all. It hurts and can really damage your body (I once used bandages and I say for myself, never doing that again!) also if you do for a long time and look for a top surgery you might not be able to do it. Get a binder or try a sports bra. The sports bra may not be perfect at binding the chest but at least is safe.Lots of love to trans boys

yes i highly agree! used bandages once cos I was desperate but it’s hella painful and i will never be doing that again
There are however specific safe tapes made specifically for trans people to use
VampireTiger Also not safe - safer yes - but still do the same damage as regular tape over time.
My advice is either use little & far between or not at all, get a good old bindy boy which is far safer.👌🏼
kt tape or trans tape etc. is okay. just make sure whatever you use is as safe as possible (binding is never 100% safe but there are safe ways to do it)

im a trans man and im kinda tearing up a little bit. you have no idea how cool it is to see cis people taking the time to educate themselves and be able to laugh and joke about it. (its also worth noting not all trans masc ppl can/want to do any of these things, everyones transition looks different!) anyways congrats on ur transition from male to male, yiu are so brave :)

i saw this was posted yesterday but i was so scared to watch it because i was worried it would be....not very nice. today has been kind of shitty, especially with dysphoria and all of that (i'm a trans guy too) and this made me so happy
As a trans person I was honestly really touched by how much care you put into this - clearly you were kidding around and sure sometimes you didn't know things but it was obvious that you wanted to know them and that you were happy to listen and learn. Thanks for educating (and entertaining!) I'm sure you reached a lot of new people ❤❤❤

This video is honestly beautiful. As a trans guy, so much of this is familiar. The discomfort of binding, the weird feeling of packing, actively making voice lower and trying to appear more masculine. And this whole thing is a great way to educate people on just how difficult being trans can actually be.
I expected this to be so cringey and out of touch and offensive, but it was great! Easy going, enlightening, and funny to boot. Well done!
This video made me laugh so much omg. Well done for educating yourself Luke, and thanks for keeping it entertaining. Being trans and the issues that come from that are not fun to deal with, so it's nice when people like you make some lighthearted but educational(ish) content.
Also don't worry about getting things wrong when you're still learning! Some of my friends worry they'll offend me if they say or ask certain things, but I'd much rather they do because otherwise they'd carry on getting things wrong or getting confused. Keep doing what you're doing, it's lovely to see

Thought this was going to be very problematic but it's actually quite informative??? I think it was wise to have a trans man with you so you aren't just a straight man talking about issues you don't have anything to do with, but you're educating yourself. Of course this video is still not ideal, but it could've been much worse

as a side note i'd like to point out that not every trans person, binary or not, experience dysphoria! which means also not every trans masc binds, or wants to get any sort of surgery.
It is important tho to know some do and want and need hormones and prosthetics and binders and such to be comfortable so we can focus on having resources to help! but representation of all trans experiences is also important 😄

See this is the kind of educational video we need. It's light-hearted and funny, but at the same time its taking the subject seriously (though not too seriously), it's explorative and takes information from the side it's talking about (aka, trans man).

You’re apologising way too much to potentially be offensive to people. I don’t see how this video is at all offensive. It’s not derogatory or mean spirited and just a bit of lighthearted and educational ( to those of us that sent transgender ) fun. I think your best vids are when it’s obvious you’re happy and having fun. Keep doing you, time is too short to be worried about being potentially offensive to people that have too much anger and time to get upset over something that is far from being harmful in any way.
I agree with the content of your comment yet don't agree with your goal. What played a big part in making it not feel offensive is that he tried to clarify that he doesn't aim to offend. I don't find that those short step backs, especially since they are genuine, take away from the video, but they can comfort those who may be..uncomfortable around the topic (for example for someone who may be questioning their own identity, to know that this is not perse meant to inform but also to entertain).
I really enjoyed this! Very educational as I probably don't know as much about the subject as I'd like too! My favourite soap show (don't hate me for loving this show) Emmerdale, introduced a trans character this year which I think has been brilliant for normalising trans people to the older generation!

Jimin_Ended_Me you don’t need dysphoria to be trans, it’s been confirmed by many many people. i know u want to blame waiting lists and things on someone but the truth is more trans people are just comfortable coming out. not many trans people do not have dysphoria, but there are some.

it’s known there are different types of dysphoria. often people say “you don’t need bottom dysphoria, but you need gender dysphoria” or whatever. the definition of gender dysphoria is the disconnect between ones gender and sex. if someone knows they’re male and has been male their whole life but was born with a vagina, and is comfortable with their vagina, how can the have a disconnect between their gender and sex? if they understand sex is NOT gender, and they don’t mind their sex or their body, how can they have a disconnect between their gender and sex?
there are also trans people with very very little dysphoria, and none at all once they just change their name. i have a friend who came out very young because he was just happier being called a boy and he has never really had dysphoria.
