    I like the pace of your video - so easy to follow! This little bag is just adorable, and it’s so kind of you to make it available for free. There’s just one thing: I can’t stand exposed zipper tape, so I’ll be changing up the pocket construction process to accommodate my foible. Thanks again!

      Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I wish I could claim this pattern as my own, but I can not. It is made by Bagstock Designs who have been kind enough to give me permission to make videos using their patterns. I'd love to learn about your method for hiding the zipper tape! I have 24 years of sewing experience but only started making bags in the last couple of years. I'm always open to learning something new.

      Thanks for your quick response! Yes, I realized almost immediately afterward that it was a Bagstock pattern. ;-). There are several bags that use an overlay with a zip pocket and have no exposed raw edges. The Journey Bag by Mrs. H is a stunning bag with several cleverly done overlay pockets. She does the pocket lining in one piece, but it wouldn't take much thought to have it with two. The Side Hustle by Mrs H has a slightly different process, but achieves the same results. (The Marina Crossbody by Bagstock and the Essential Crossbody by SewnIdeas are also similar.) I just don’t understand why designers spend so much time/energy getting everything else about a bag so professional and “finished” and then leave the zipper tape out there for all to see. It’s like having a Dior dress with the hem half-sewn. But that’s the nice thing about sewing our own things: we can CHANGE them! :-) Thanks again for a lovely video!

      @@BellaBagsPDX Thank you for your reply and the recommendations! I'll absolutely check those out. You are right that it is a great thing being able to change things to suit our needs or tastes. I have very few patterns that I make exactly as the pattern calls for after the first time making it. I like making little tweaks here and there. I'll check out those patterns and learn something new! I do sell my bags, so the more professional I can make them, the better. Thanks again.

      I just got a new pattern that has THE cleverest way of doing pockets I've seen! Check out the All Aboard bag by Bags by Kat (www.bagsbykat.com). She shows it for use with an overlay, but it could easily be adapted for any zipper pocket. I'm going to use it for all my pockets from now on. :-)

      Thanks! I use different sized rivets often, but I'm too cheap to buy the dies for all of them, to be honest. lol Maybe one day, but for the most part, my little anvil and setter do the job well enough.

    Hi..I am at 33:42 and you show to baste the front panel to the zipper and say nothing about the liner then show using that liner with the zipper attached. I'm following step by step so I go back and rebaste that panel on?

    • @RogueStitches
      @RogueStitches  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi, Lori I didn't show steps that repeat like showing both sides of the bag being attached to the zipper. If you follow from where you noted, you would do the same thing for the first side. Baste the zipper onto the panel, then lay the lining panel right sides together and sew.
      Sorry for the confusion there.
