It's really shocking how good quality these Harley Benton guitars can be at this kind of insane price point. I own 4 Ibanez axes, a PRS USA and a Suhr superstrat HSS. But this summer I also grabbed 2 Harley Bentons - a P90 equipped PRS inspired axe and a LP style with gold hardware and a Floyd. Both guitars arrived in perfect [and I mean perfect] condition including setups and cosmetics and fretwork. Incredible value propositions for sure. This 79USD HSS Strat clone seems unbelievable. Jesus, when I first started playing guitar back at the dawn of time, we only had C R A P available for less than 500USD. Truly, a great time to be a guitar nut.

I just bought one of these! All I can say is it’s insane how well this thing is made. Feels fantastic, feels more like a $500 guitar. The only thing I’m changing are the tuners. Well worth the money.

Yes to modding HBs. I missed my American Precision bass from the past so bought the cheap black PB from HB, changed pups to Seymour Duncan vintage, upgraded electrics and socket, added a tortoiseshell scratchplate, went for black tailpiece, knobs, strap buttons and screws. Fitted decent strings, gave it a full setup and now have a unique looking and sounding killer precision for about 160 euro..

I love the satin black look with the matching color on the headstock. I agree, get some locking tuners would be great. I'd also love to see a Graph Tech nut and string trees to help smooth out tuning as well. I can't believe they are able to sell this thing, delivered from German to USA for just $106!
Add $37 for locking tuners (in black of course) and $10 each for the Graph Tech nut and string trees and you would have a really nice strat for about $165! I wish Thomann was an option for me when I was learning to play back in the 80's.

@@matejhegedus7940 Thomann has locking tuners in different finishes, the price varies a bit per finish type and also if you need 3 and 3 (Les Paul style) or 6 in a row (Strat style). They do charge for shipping to the US, about 30 Euro, but you can get a number of items in that one shipment. One of my previous orders from Thomann was a guitar, locking tuners, a guitar pedal, and a strap which all was in the one shipment. Just google "Thomann Music" should get you there.

I been looking around the internet i cant seem to find any information on this guitar. Do you happen to know if they have 250k or 500k pods?
This guitar looks and sounds good! I think I want to get the swamp ash DLX version though. I like that this one has one humbucker but I want a really bright and nice and steely single-coil tone for indie and math rock so swamp ash + bolt-on + single coils + steel frets will sound awesome! Even more so if I add one of those Fishman prewired pickguards on it, which is why I even considered the ST body of the T styles.

Hi Jonathan. It never ceases to amaze me how Thomann can offer these great values in their Harley Benton line. I think the main reason they can do this is by cutting out the "middle mam" in their marketing plan. It's a "win win" situation IMO. The pickups sound like ceramics. But that is not necessarily a bad thing. Many guitar players prefer them because they are usually fatter and hotter. I thought that they sounded about as good as what you get on a Mexican Strat. Mexican Strats sell for between $600 & $700 new. I personally prefer Alnico pickups. Seems to me that if you do the work yourself you could end up with a "top shelf" guitar for a fraction of the cost of the big brands. Especially when you consider all the very affordable upgrades available from Gotoh, Vanson and Wilkinson to name a few. Anyway there's my two cents. Great video as always. Have a great day.

I bought the sunburst ST-20HSS a while ago, upgraded with a bone nutt, better string trees, a zebra humbucker and black scratchplate. It's an incredible instrument for the price. Great review and beautiful playing.

As you unboxed I was thinking what a beautiful matte black finish, and that the fret board needed oiling. I'd love to do a build soon, but I prefer a rosewood fretboard can point me toward a video of a build (modification) of a favorite guitar (you mentioned Wilkinson bridge, EMG/Seymour Duncan pickups). I bought a Harley Benton XT 22 Delux last September after my equipment was stolen and i loved it so much I bought a Harley Benton HB 35 Plus last weekend. I was in the market for a Gibson 335 or similar and a guy in Atlanta sold me the one he bought 2 months ago. The HB 35 Plus plays and sounds as good as any Gibson 335 or similar guitar.

I can understand why she caught your eyes! She looks great, especially the headstock and colour! And in your hands she sounds pretty good, not so "harsh" like other Bentons. Hi Big J. Great guitar regardless of price point. Unlike some, i consider "budget" guitars today to be for any experience level. Brands and hyped parts and pieces mean nothing to me. This wasn't the case for us in the 50's through the 70's. At 70 years young i still record and gig with many sub $150.00 guitars. I leave a dozen or so " high-end" ones at home. Actually, i wish guitars had never been conceived. They have consumed my life (along with my wife of 50 yrs. if she reads this). Thank you and holiday greetings!

Because I am alone in this country I always worry if this hobby will keep me inside instead at going out and meet people. Seriously, the guitar can be a great social equaliser, as well as being so much fun. So, to summarise: join a guitar class, talk to the other members of the class, and the teacher (don't forget them!), join a band, start playing, become famous, take over the world of music, be remembered for a thousand years as the genius you truly are, job done! Oh, and have a wonderful holiday season dreaming about it all. But most of all have fun with it, always.
