Thanks for information. Today itself, I have experienced tyre burst in my Honda City. Both front tyres burst on highway. Luckily I purchased new tyre immediately after burst of first tyre.
I have 2021 honda city zx cvt. I have few queries. Appreciate if you can clarify those. First, in terms of tyre upgrade. Which is the right tyre size ? Should I go for 195/55/R16 or 205/55/R16 ? I have seen many users are using 205/55/R16 without any problem. What is your take on that ? Secondly, which brand I should go for in terms of reliability, less noisy, smoother ride with good grip ? Please suggest. Another query I have is in terms of ground clearance of the car. Many a times I have observed that the engine protector cover touches the speed humps. Any solutions to that ? Do I have to install suspension modulator such as Rogerab or any such brands ? Please suggest. At last, I need to say that NVH level of the car is very poor. Can I go for damping which can help in this case ? If yes, which are the brands do you recommend for damping ? Appreciate if you can provide some clarifications on my queries as these are genuine issues that I have faced till now. Thanks in advance.
Are you facing any vibration issues over speed bumps with the 9 array LED setup headlights of the ZX variant? There are many videos online reporting this issue.
Hi Ripesh , are there any impacts to insurance or warranty of Honda by changing / upgrading the tyres ?
I also have the same issue. My 2 tyres got busted. I also want to change the tyres. So now after changing tyres what's the actual average of ur car? And how much should be tyre air pressure in 195/55 R16
After upgrading the tyre size to 16inch did the ground clearance increase and do you face any issue on pot holes
I own a swift 2nd gen it has 168mm GD did not face touching issue on pot hole in normal road
Did you face this kind of issue in your car because planning to buy this car only concern in ground clearance
Did you install the new 16 inch tyres on the 15 inch stock rims ? Is it safe to do that ?
On buying the Honda City had decided to change the tyre to 195/55 r16 on the first day. Your video reinforced my decision. Bought the car and upgraded the tyres on the first day. Thanks
Thanks for appreciation
Yes, I am doing the same. Putting Yokohama Bluearth GT
Thank you so much man! I’m facing exact issue and found exact solution.
Thanks for this information sir. Waiting for 4th gen city and looking for upgrade suggestions . I have got everything I wanted with this video and going with u r recommendation 195/55/r15 and uc6 . Very good video
Hi, Cam you please advise if we can change one tyre at a time as one of my tyre is flat and dont want to invest all at once. So can we upgrade one of the tyre from 185 to 195 ? please advise
I also faced same issue with my 1 month old Honda City. Tyre fussed landing on pot hole, which shocked me. Thank you for enlightening me
Which model were you driving?
@@Novicexmusic ZX 5th Gen.
@@sokhepkri1288 which is the ideal tyre size for zx variant
A dealer nearby also suggested me the same profile as it will not compromise anything in any way... i was thinking 195/60 to increase ground clearance further but you have explained that part with 2% deviation... so I can consider the same.. even I have only scrapped the bottom only 4 times in the past 3 years wgich had done 22 k kms
I just faced this issue in my New Honda City 2020 model after 2 years, though my usage is not heavy. Good informative video bro, and thanks for sharing such as nice detailed video. This should have been escalated to Honda for better fix.
Which Honda City model are you driving!
Thank you very informative video... My Honda City VX CVT 3 month old... Recently I went for a tour of 1600 km... The roads through Karnataka were very bad... I run on the stock Bridgestone tyres... So far have not faced any issue... But this thing is occupying my mind as every time I look at my tyre I see that theyre too small for the big car... Very informative video thank you
Hello sir as per your guidance I have changed the alloys and tyre 195/55/R16 in my new Honda city It’s good but alarm display on the screen please suggest how can be reset
Excellent analysis !!
Being the owner of a 5th generation Honda City ZX myself, I have also experienced severe damage to one of my tyres in the six months that I have had the car, and did not know whom to turn to for the sort of advice that you have offered in this video.
Thank you very much for the advice and suggestions.
One question: Do you reckon the TPMS sensor of the damaged tyre would also have been damaged beyond repair ? And if so, will that not affect the overall efficiency of the tyre pressure monitoring system ?
They did this in order maintain speedo error
Planning for uc 195/55 16
Is there any deflationa warning error comes if we upgrade with this size
Bhai.... do u face issue of flickering of headlamps for this ZX model. Tried even replacing it in warranty but still facing the issues. Can u please suggest a solution for this !!
Brother when the diiference is around 2.2 than we should go with it or not?
Nice video. I too feel 195/55 R16 is the right upsize. Also, while upgrading tires it is beneficial to consider the load-index of the tire. 87 is widely used, but if you want tires that are much more resistant to cuts go for 91 load index rated tires, these will have stronger but less flexible side walls, the downside is that the ride comfort will be compromised when the car is not fully loaded and the suspension will be overworked than when using 87 load-index tires. So for upsizing, 195/55 R16 87(load index) if you drive your car under normal load and 195/55 R16 91(load index) if your car if fully loaded most of the times. These are the general guidelines, but depending on the tire manufacturers and the compound used, sometimes even 91 load index tires can feel comfortable.
Better go for 195/60/16 Yokohama
Do we need to upgrade 185/60 R15 on Honda ciry V CVT?
@@Novicexmusic you can go for 195/65/15 continental uc6 91 v . Continental tyre is now made in India you will get warranty too upto 2 years till 50 percent of tire mm.
@@automotive_drives this gives total deviation of 5.11% which is not recommended at all I guess
@@Novicexmusic see if you have any shop near by you get a detailed information there. I think 195/60/r15 & 195/65/R15 specifically of continental uc6 model. You can go for Yokohama too but there will be a drop in mileage in Yokohama because of its pattern. Don't go for ceat and good year or mrf their rubber is too hard for honda city. I have 2019 honda City i have used good year 195/55/16 its worse.
I have the base model and they come with the 185/65 R15 and they still got burst from left front, i got it repaired, planning to upgrade, suggest me they tyres for the R15?

I also switched from pathetic Apollo OEM tyres on Ciaz to Yokohama Earth One and it was a significant improvement in road noise and comfort
Hi, how do i disable Auto headlamps feature? in monsoon the auto headlamps switches on even in day time due to low light. As i turn it down to switch off mode, it springs back to auto and when i go down the head lamps turn off but the DRLs and the tail lights are dimly lit. Is there a solution where the headlights and the tail lights go completely off, im ok if the DRLs stay on. Please help, thank you!!
Great information!!...thanks for sharing 👍👍
Thank you Ripesh! Great content and completely educative. The upsize recommended by you i.e. 195/55 R16 generates 1.79% error, increases GC by 5.5mm and increases height by .43inches. You didn't cover in your video
- Whether there is any effect on electronics - ABS, VSC/ESC, BA, etc.? Or How it is affected and how one has to change his driving a bit to accumulate the difference/affect?
- What is the travel change in braking for you after upsizing the tyres?
- Did the dealer/service center pose any warranty void risks to you?
- Not so needed but helpful if you educate us how to calculate/derive from the error % i.e. 1.79% in this case. How to interpret it into KMS driven, distance travelled on odo? Maybe another video to talk about.
It would be helpful and much appreciated your answers for above which will help your followers in much informed decision making.
Thank you!

Hi, will upgrading to 17 inch size improve ground clearance? Do you know if it is possible/not recommended to upgrade to 17” on Honda City 5th gen?
Dont go for 17
Thanks for your video it's very informative, what would you suggest to a person who was thinking to buy Honda City Zx cvt should I rethink for a different car then or what would be best car in 15-20lakh budget for family of 4, 80% city commute 20% highway, weekly approx 120-150 kms usage. Looking only for Automatic transmission and safe car. Open for Both SuVs and sedans?
Hello Neeraj,
If your city has good roads, if you dont have serious offroad patches in your commute , a sedan is anyday better than a SUV. Reasons being it is more comfortable, more fun to drive, more relaxed and a plus point of huge boot. Regular bad roads with normal pot holes are managable in a sedan. But if you have some really bad patches, absolutely no roads in your commute, you should opt for a SUV.
In 15-20 lac range, according to me, Honda City is the most comfortable, most reliable, decently equipped with features. It has a ASEAN NCAP rating of 5 stars, so safety is also not a issue.
Talking about SUVs in this range, you can go for the Toyota Hyryder, VW Taigun, Suzuki Grand Vitarra. All three are good choices with their own pros and advantages.
bro mene yokohama earth1 ka pta keya apne city m, 1 tyre 8000 ka pd rha h….and they said ke city k stock tyre ke cost wo 3000/tyre lga dengay. Toh thik value mil rhe h new stock city tyres ke ya koe or dealer check kru?
Are stock tyres not covered in warranty ?
U can even go for 195/60 (more sidewall) coz comparing with base "v"model (185/60) deviation is 1.9 % & clearance 6 mm. BTW, rim size has nothing to do with outer diameter/measurement. 15" gives better plush ride than 16" coz of more rubber than steel. AWA, 15 " can hold more weight at rear/boot than 16 ".
Cont UC, primacy, Yoko earth are performance tyres (not comfort ie not soft rubber)
I use Bridgestone turanza (soft rubber)at back & Bridgstone B290 (hard rubber) at front.
B290 makes less noise than stock B250, huh....but B250 lasts long. Yes, u have to compromise on durability over comfort. Most Micheline tyres are soft rubber (silica rubber)
Front suspension wont affect our butts much coz 1) its independent suspension 2) its far away frm seat. Hard rubber is good at front coz it takes the most hits & engine sits over it.
As a 5th gen City user, I would recommend. If ur a hard peddle driver, its good to change oil ASAP ( If u sense, smell of fuel in oil) coz its GDI (not PFI like 4th gen) and its good is consider better fuel octane numbers coz preignition used to happen in direct injection engines. BTW if urs is Diesel engine u got a better luck coz diesel has better lubricating property than gasoline.
What brand do you suggest ? Top priority less road noise , second high speed grip and handling , third Comfort ride (at least slight improvement over stock ).
And what profile. Thanks
@@thedailycyber9640 Can't beat Michelin in this case, but have heard Michelin tyres are not available readily. See if you can get Primacy 4ST. Have heard good things about MRF Perfinza and Conti UC6(for comfort oriented check CC6)
Hi Dev how is 205/55 R15
Can we go tyre size 195/55-R16 with 15 inch alloy wheels in new city V 2023 Model. Or we have to change alloys with tyre. Please suggest
I got the base model of 5th gen Honda city just yesterday. I am not aware of this issue as I switched from the 3rd gen Honda city to 5th gen.
In my case the rim size 15 inches which looks a lot small when compared to the size of the car. Should i go for 16 inches or 17 inches and whats the tire size I should opt for.
Please suggest. I want the stability, ground clearance and sound insulation should be better.
You got your answer.... 😜😜
I also faced the same issue with my 4th gen 2018 model city V. Both front tyres.
the lower variiant i.e, SV,V,VX have smaller tyre size R15 but the plus point is they are not Low Profile. they are 185/60 R16 so the side wall thickness will be 111mm
I also faced the cut issue within 6 months after a pothole...very informative & well explained video..will go with the advice when changing the tyres
Was it on R15 or R16?
Recently I bought new honda city 2023 within one month I am facing this puncher issue my model is sv please suggest tyre size for my sv model honda city
Hi after amking the upgrade are you facing any difficulty while driving i have ZX manual 2021 Model
No such dificulty faced till date, the ride is more comfortable, more planted and more stable
i have 5th gen city V variant which comes with 185/60 R15 and V variant doesnt have tyre burst issue because of thicker side wall..so can i go for 195/60 R15?? for better stability, grip, handling and deviation is 1.98% increase in ground clearance 6 mm
which brand conti,michlean or yoko??????
Sure you can upgrade to 195/60-R15, for the brand try to get the Continental UC6, that is the best choice hands down without any doubt. If you dont get the UC6, you can go for Yokohoma Earth 1. I dont advice michelin, because it is expensive as compared to other two brands.
I am thinking of buying the city 5gen v variant which comes with 15' wheels , but i have already streched my budget much to go for this car so should I still consider it with company provided Tyre? Or change Tyre while immediately purchasing the car
This video is basically for the top varients of the city which comes with 16'' wheels.
The V varient comes with 185/60-R15, which has (185*0.60=111mm) side wall, which is much better than the side wall of the tyres of the top ZX varient , 185/55-R16 (101.75mm sidewall), so you dont have to change the company tyres for the tyre bursting issue. You can consider the company fitted tyres 👍
I m using city v with 15 inch wheels.. no issues as of now touchwood 😁.. v variant hasn't faced much of tyre burst issues
@@BharathYammanur me too, its a nice vfm variant
Planning to buy 2023 v variant. How is the noise level for the stock tyres? Please advise
I have a city 5th gen...I couldn't understand Hindi but I guess this is something related to tyres.. My 1 tyre bursted, I changed to new tyres with Same size another wheel tyre gets punctured frequently.. also I always get deflamation warning on my instrument cluster ., Whats the solution for this problem bro? Should I change my tyre size, is anything wrong with the stock tyre size
I bought my Honda City Zx 2 months before, and have never had any issues with the stock tyres but I don’t like them coz they’re too slim. I’m thinking about getting MICHELIN Primacy but I’m also confused for MRF Perfinza. I got the MRF ones in the june for my baleno and one tyre cost me around ₹7,500 and the grip is very good.
Which one would you suggest, MRF Perfinza or MICHELIN Primary ?
The Size I’m upgrading to is 195/55 R16.
Thanks.
The issue we are discussing here happens only once to let you know about it 😅. Tyre burst happens only once in an unfortunate event and anything can happen, from you being stranded out in nowhere to you losing control in a high speed situation.
My recommendation would be Michelin Primacy, if your budget allows. It is a superior tyre altogether.
@@DriveCraftR sure, opting for Michelin primacy, Thanks👍
Dealers here says Michelin is not imported to India now for16”.
Where can I get these in Mumbai?
Go for continental uc6 195/55 R16
Hi again, I actually don't have any issues with the ground clearance of the stock tyres, all I need is better grip and width. After giving it a lot of thought, I have finally decided to go with the Michelin Pilot Sport 4- 205/50/R16. Now the only doubt I have is that I don't want the steering to get too heavy as I am habitual of driving single handed. Please tell me if I'm making any mistakes. Thanks
Any increase in ground clearance?
While upsizing let's say 195/55/R16 do we need to change rims as well ? Sorry I am very dump at this 😬
No you are not dumb, will help you in that.
If you are talking about the top model zx varient, it already comes with 16 inches rim so you wont have to change the rims. If you are upsizing in the lower varients, you will have to change the rims, as the lower varients come with 15 inches rim.
You can check your tyre size. Suppose your tyre size is 185/55-R16, the "R16" denotes Rim size, which in this case (185/55-R16) is 16 inches. 👍👍🙂🙂.
Do let me know if that answers your question
Thanks for your analysis bro. This info helpful. I too have zx cvt
Would be very helpful if you talk in English or add English subtitles. I didn't experience any issues with the tyres, but rear suspension is soft especially when you drive on speed breakers.
Drove my Honda city 5th gen for 2400 km.
Still, good video (I did understand some by your expressions and the comments section).
Very informative 👍
Hi @DriveCraftR can you please tell if you have any problems with 195? Is there a difference in fuel economy?
I can feel a very marginal drop in the fuel economy, earlier on highways I was able to extract 21-22 kmpl, but after the upgrade the maximum I have achieved is 20.5 kmpl

What is the Alloy PCD requirement for 5th Gen City?
Peril manual or auto Honda city which is better also what about the ground clearance has it improved from the previous gen, or should I just go for virtus or creta, want a comfy family car for city , please advice
The Ground clearance is good enough for regular city roads, until unless you are aware of the fact that you are driving a Sedan. If you are looking for a comfortable family car, you can surely go for Honda City.
Regarding the Manual or Auto, If you want ease and convinience, you should go for Automatic, if you want driving pleasure, strong acceleration, you should go for Manual

Hi, 195 55 r16 low profile tyres right, what do you think about Bridgestone? Also what is your experience so far with your tyres?
Hi sorry i edited the comment without realising that you had already replied. Can you pls reply to the previous comment? Thanks
Hello Hitesh,
First of all no need to be sorry about anything, this is your space and its my duty to reply all your queries.
195/55-R16 is a low profile tyre as well, but marginally better than 185/55-R16, so it will give you that extra protection against tyre cuts, also improving the comfort, grip level and the visual appeal.
Bridgestones were good, but in terms of warranty, premium brands like Continental, Yokohoma, Michellin are better as they provide you 3-5 years of unconditional warranty against cuts and other defects
@@DriveCraftR Thanks for replying!!
@@DriveCraftR Did you also face any issues with TPMS? after upgrading the tyres, i was advised not to do so by the dealer as it might create issues with TPMS.
@@DriveCraftR Any issue with TPMS after tyre upgrade?
195/55/R,16 Bridgestone tyre good or not plz reply
sometimes it makes more sense to reduce the rim size. In this case selling the 16inch rims and buying better looking 14inch rims would be better, which might have also gotten you a profit. then buying any of these size Tyres 185 70 r14, 195 65 r14, or 205 60 r14. all of these sizes allow you to have a greater sidewall thereby reducing the likely hood of your tires being cut from the side. as far as driving dynamics these sizes should not affect anything adversely nor should it effect the mileage. Additionally, the cost of these tires should go down from 7 or 8k to 5.5k per Tyre.
Hi bro, great video and love your voice tonality, I'm considering between Honda City top variant and Virtus topline AT. I'm more inclined towards Virtus but do u think it's not a good car to buy?
Go for City anyday for Long run, Reliability and Comfort.
If you want a better performance car with a better overall handling you can go for Virtus. But if you want a "Better" car altogether, with peace of mind, good reliability, good engine, you should go for Honda City. Also with the city you get more comfort, good handling, and a smooth refined engine (Virtus is a marginally better handling car, but the engine is not as refined as the city)
Yes the 3 cylinder is very much noisy.
I have a Honda city v cvt 2020 and current profile is 185 60 r15. Want to upsize this size the one where 2% deviation is less is 195 60 r15. Can you suggest if this will help in the comfort of the ride also which will be the best brand (city 60% highway 40%)

Should I consider Honda city hybrid for better mileage and features or go for any big suv which has got better ground clearance and overall feel for the price ????thanks in advance bro peace ✌️
If you have mileage, comfort, driving dyanmics, space as priority you can go for Honda City Hybrid, that car has an exceptional mileage. Although if your commute consist of really bad roads (Terrible roads with huge potholes), Buying a sedan is not advisable. But if you commute is on good roads and normal broken patches and regular potholes, you wont have any issues. A sedan will give you and your family a greater comfort, sense of luxury, better driving pleasure.
Go for hybrid only if your daily city commute is more than 60kms.
Well explained...

Can we go for mrf perfinza 190/60/R 15 88V?
Honda should improve this, nice video 👍
Good to see you here Ripesh. I use to travel from Delhi to Bijnor and the road is terrible with upto a ft deep potholes. Switched to smaller rims 15” for a permanent solution 😅 … with 195/65 R15 in the rear and 195/55 in the front.. resulting in higher ground clearance and solid hit tolerance for tyres. I think deviation in the rear really don’t make much difference because of few moving parts.
Went for MRF perfinza… since it has much stronger side walls in comparison to Yokohama and Michelin. Have drove around 6000kms so far … no incident of tyre tearing.
@@mehmoodhafiz786give some update on it brother
@@hellcat7394 Sure, MRF Perfinza rocks… I am at peace with the setup. Though efficiency has dropped by 1.5-2 km/l but for me it’s worth it.
Any advice for base 5th gen with 185/60/R15 upgrade
You can upgrade to 195/60-R15. You can also go for 205/55-R15, but there will be less benefits in terms of sidewall. So you can upgrade to 195/60-R15, it would be a better choice.
But does upsizing void warranty?
HII NICE VIDEO.
I AM USING 195/60R15 OLD CITY.
** OLD CITY HAD 15INCH RIM THAT IS BEST PART COS BETTER SIDE WALL, MORE AIR VOLUME, MORE COMFORTABLE RIDE AS COMPARED TO 16 INCH RIM OF NEW CITY MODELS.
** COMPARISON :- I HAVE BOTH UC6 AND PRIMACY 4ST BOTH ON SAME CAR. CONTINENTAL UC6 IS 3-4 TIMES MUCH MORE NOISY AS COMPARED TO MICHLEIN PRIMACY-ST4. DRIVE QUALITY IS MUCH COMFORTABLE IN PRIMACY ST4. PLEASE MIND I AM TALKING ABOUT PRIMACY 4 NOT PRIMACY 3 (WHICH IS OLD TECHNOLOGY).

@@DriveCraftR Bro, can you please update now? Tell us your longbterm experience after tyre upgrade.
Hi, Im owing 2 Honda City both are different generations & oldest honda city is 2011 model.
I have gone through MRF, Continental, Bridgestone, Yokohama, Goodyear & Michelin tyre brands.
I must say Michelin is worth the premium price for cushioning ride comfort & also good durability wise. As per my ranking below are preferred tyre brands.
Michelin
Continental
Bridgestone & Yokohama
MRF
Goodyear is worst from above.
My oldest honda city is in due for suspension work from long time. But due to michelin tyres with 30psi air it is still giving me comfortable ride.
I must feel michelin tyres prevents suspension damage by 15-20% depending on how much air preassure maintaining in tyre.
There is no subsitute of michelin and even in my future cars I will stick to michelin only to prevent suspension damage & dont maintain air preasure above 32 ever.
I have not upgraded tyre size in any brand. So compared in stock size only.
Very informative video indeed. Keep it up.
Great info bro. Thanks.
I have city 5G v model, i want to ask can I upgrade 185/60/R 15 to 195/60/R 16 with same alloys?
For going from R15 to R16, you need to upgrade your alloys from 15 inches to 16 inches, so you will have to upgrade the alloys
Thanks Bhai
I upgraded to 195/55 r16 conti uc6. Very happy with these set of tyres.
Any change in mileage?

Hello Ripesh,
How is the feedback about new tyres after one year? Are they okay or still facing any tyre cuts or bursts?
Hello Hemanshu,
A detailed video is coming out soon, in which i will share my 20000+ kms experience with these new tyres and will also try to answer all other queries of viewers as well.

Noted. Actually, I currently don't have a car and have to buy one soon. I am considering Honda City. But I was a bit concerned about the tyre size, so stumbled upon this video. I did not know that Honda City tyre burst was a known issue faced by many people. So I am a bit put off by this issue. Moreover, I am also concerned by its low ground clearance. So I am wondering whether Honda Elevate is a better option.

It all depends on your preference. If you want better comfort, better handling, better space, better luggage carrying capacity, go for a sedan.
If your driving includes lot of really bad roads, you can consider a SUV. But believe me that increased ground clearance is the only benefit you will get from a SUV. But anyday, sedan offers more driving pleasure, more comfort, more sense of space.

i also had bad experiance a week back, from the day 1 of purchase when ever i unknowngly jumps any pothholes the left front side feels like there is no suspension ,all blow will reach to cabin ,but no other tyres shows this, complained service center from 1st service but they coudnt find any problem,a week back i was driving with my wife home @11pm after refueilng and air pressure check i drove around 60 km in 2hrs with honda app gives 99 score all of sudden i jumped a small pothhole with huge sound ,speed was just 35 -40 km hr ,and my bad luck nitrogen emptied in fraction of second tyre flat ,i changed tyre middle of road midni8,next day when i tried to refill the burst tyre could find side wall is cracked, reported service center, showroom said they will give for warranty and given for 20000 km service, after 2days good year tyre company rejected warranty saying tyre is damaged due to external damage, service center said they drove vehicle nly big patholes maked impact sound,is this normal with all vehicles?sound i feels like is body hits to floor, does this issue solve after tyre change?😢
I've got a City (5th gen VX). Could you help me choose between 195/55/16 and 205/60/16
205/55r16 would be a perfect upsize or 205/50r16. 60 profile would be too big and will cause speedometer error. Go for michelin or continental if price is not a problem and enjoy the ride and power of the city.
