How Oklahoma became an NFL quarterback factory..
Penn State linebackers

How do you forget carson palmer when thinking of USC QBs? Hes easily the most successful of them all
He’s talking about bust qb’s. Palmer was in no way shape or form a bust
@@nickfisher8569 maybe, but thats not what was said at the beginning of the video and he goes on later and talks about carson palmer and his career, although briefly because like you said he wasn't a bust
Palmer enrolled at USC in 1998, so you can technically say he's from the previous century, not this one, which would exclude him from this list.
@Rockney because it doesn't fit the mold of QB busts that make up the rest of the list and can be excluded due to him being recruited in the previous century.
If Carson Palmer is the best by leaps and bounds that's a problem
Definitely a mainstream sports media over-hyped QB factory.
So bust factory with extra words.
lmao
I always hear that whenever they recruit QBs, they pitch that they have a pro-style offenses to better develop QBs for the NFL lol
Considering the sheer number of QBs taken in the 1st 3 rounds from top 30-40 programs in FBS, most QBs send up busting anyway.
Man who could ever forget the legend, John David Booty?
I drafted a USC Qb in madden and he was ass so I said yes bust factory
😂😂
Do a video on how terrible the NFL “experts” are lmao. Every year there’s always a “once in a generational talent”.
haha
that's a good idea man..
To be fair it is extremely difficult to predict the production of any player coming out of college. Justin herbert was the most polarizing player in the draft this year and no one expected this out of him. A lot of people expected Dwayne Haskins to produce at a high level and that didn’t work out.
@@bafoonerysamurai6911 Oh I understand that. But come on, who really thought Mitch was worthy of a top 5 pick? His college tape wasn't eye-popping either. Some I just saying on that alone. Watson won a ship in college and Mahomes had a crazy game against Oklahoma. Mitch barely won 10 games.
@@lonnellwashere tru
I have an issue with Sanchez being a bust in the NFL, AFC championship games, playoff success. He may have not been Peyton Manning successful but he had a solid NFL career.
Picked 5th in the draft.... probably still a bust, you’d expect more from that high of a pick
at #5 yeah his nfl career is bust material
Dude Sanchez was carried by his defense both those years
In those two playoff years he had a combined 29-33 td to int ratio. The Jets defense was ranked in the top 5 each of those years being number 1 in 2009. If that's not the epitome if getting carried, I don't no what is.
@@gnielsen07 he did better than most quarterbacks drafted with the first pick

I think Alabama is a QB bust factory as well. They have great QBs every year and they never pan out in the nfl. The last QB to to make it was Joe Namath as far as I can remember. We’ll see if Tua can do well but I’m not sold. The dolphins have already talked trading him or drafting another QB
To be considered a bust you have to high expectations coming into the NFL. None of the Qbs before Tua were considered high overall prospects.
@@heat2652 Well that’s not correct at all lol Alabama only starts 4-5 stars at QB. To say a 4-5 star isn’t a high prospect is completely wrong. Alabama can totally be considered a QB bust factory if we’re calling USC a QB bust factory
@@jjettaz3 I think you got a little confused. I was saying they weren't high DRAFT prospects as to be considered a "bust" you would have to have high expectations entering the league(Not high school expectations). Tua broke the whole "system QB" narrative at Alabama. And went in the first round and had high expectations after his tenure at Alabama.
@@heat2652 That’s a testament to Alabama’s QB development then? If they’re constantly bringing in 4-5 stars every year, a lot of those kids if not most should be league ready, or as close as you can get to it being it’s Alabama and you’re being coached by Saban.
Kenny Stabler was good coming out of Alabama. Had a HOF career with the Raiders but yeah, he and Namath are about the only 2 worth mentioning.
My video about Michigan being a BUST Factory: czcams.com/video/T952bMxzKVQ/video.html
Every Mel Kiper "sure fire pick" busts. Looooong video
That was Jimmy Clausen
I know the video is for this century only, but former USC quarterbacks in the previous century had great success in the NFL such as: Paul Macdonald, Vince Evans, Rodney Peete, Rob Johnson, Todd Marinovich, Pat Haden and Carson Palmer.
No it’s not a bust factory and the fact it put so many qbs in the NFL is impressive. The “ bust” title is so over used especially when you’re not even giving what data points you’re using. There’s only 26 modern era Hall of fame QB’s with probably 5 more active now making it 31 in 50+ years of football. There is around 150 qbs in the the college hall of fame with probably 50 + coming making it 200. So just based off that alone , only 16% of the college best have major Qb success in the NFL. Most “ pro” sport athletes will be busts if past success/future potential is post-judged.

thank you!
This is a really great concept for videos man. I think you should keep making them for the qb position off of say 5 to 10 teams that are known to have hyped up qb prospects (such as Clemson, Oklahoma, Ohio State, etc.) then, after that, following it up with the same concept, but for a different position. Keep up the great work!!!!
Another solid video, keep it up.
I did every QB who was recruited after the year 1999. Who is the biggest bust to come out of USC?
I thought Darnold was can't miss
Matt Barkley definitely. Something about those Mater Dei QB’s they never pan out.
However, I am excited To see JT Daniels in Georgia with a full off-season I think will be a top 10 pick after a breakout season.
And selfishly as an Alabama fan I want Bryce Young to thrive this year if he gets the job.
@@anondescriptobserver6774 darnold isn’t bad try and play QB under gase with no helpand let me know how it goes
Matt Barkley, the hype for him was off the charts back in the day.
Max Browne for sure. #1 QB 5 star had one of the highest scouting grades compared to all these guys and he couldn’t ever see the field on Division 1 football, let alone the NFL
Ahhhhhh haven't heard a lot of these names in years!! Memories... #FightOn
Barkley wasn’t the same after that injury. Lost ALL his arm strength. Even after that injury he’s been able to start a few games over the course of his career, so I’ll give him the pass. Leinart was a bust. Kessler wasn’t projected to be a starter or anything special. Palmer was an elite talent but he played for a chaotic franchise just like Darnold. Sanchez decided to leave college early. That wasn’t on USC as Pete Carol advised him to stay an extra year but he wanted to leave. Don’t forget Matt Cassel backed up Leinart & never started a game, yet he still got drafted. Let’s not forget that he started & won a couple of games which led to him making much more money than expected in the NFL. USC gives these QB’s a platform to put themselves in the best situation to get to the NFL with the highest draft stock possible. Some achieve that & others don’t. Some fail because of the cards they’re dealt with (Darnold) & others haunted their own development (Sanchez, Leinart). In short-I wouldn’t say USC is a bust factory. Instead I’d say the media loves to give their qb’s recognition-just like they will with Slovis in the 2022 draft.
Palmer was at least a good QB and had a good career. Best qb from usc I’ve seen in the nfl
Barkley still was trash!!
Perfect analysis on everyone man. He should pin this comment.
As a Trojan, thanks for an honest evaluation! Well done Scott!
That's ok because it's a new Era with Caleb Williams and then "Miller Time Moss" and then more coming to the NFL after that
U cant say that Darnold is a bust. He had no Oline, no WR, no TE and no Coaches, besides of that he's just 23 so he has still many years to come.
He stinks, Russell Wilson team didn't have a oline, wr, or te but he looked good. Sam stinks plain and simple, quit making excuses for this bust
@@lilcourtny08 DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett are bad? Sidney Rice and Percy Hardin were solid and the trio of Doug Baldwin, Jermaine Kearse and Tyler Lockett was great. Russell always had a solid receiving core. And had a decent o-line early in his career. You’re just a casual
@@christianramirez9303 Russell didn't always have wide receivers and the offensive line is still terrible
@@lilcourtny08Russell Wilson has only been in the league since 2012. He has always had a decent receiving core and in his first couple years he had a decent o-line and hof defense. Sam Darnold has not had either of those three things and one of the worst head coaches of all-time who is known for holding players back while he was head coach. Sam Darnold has been a starter for roughly 3 years with nothing compared to what russell wilson had in his first 3 years. So are you slow in the head?
There are people on this list he says he can't call a bust that aren't anywhere as good as Sam Darnold. Matter of fact, his team still wants him as the starter
Great video again
Appreciate it my guy! What should I do next?
As a USC fan, USC is a wide receiver school. The receivers make the QBs look good and then the media gives all the credit to the QBs
They usually produce good running backs, too. Think Marcus Allen, OJ Simpson..
I've literally been saying this forever USC qbs are always great in college but almost every one of them flops in the NFL
Carson Palmer was solid, but that’s it
COOL VID SCOTT BRO !
People before Justin Herbert were sayin oregon was a bust factory. I think USC is a wayyy bigger bust factory.
Really?
Mariota is not a bust, just needs a fresh start with a team that wants him.
In terms of QB's or overall? USC wipes the floor with Oregon in terms of overall NFL talent.

It's funny how every season SC's QBs are automatically Heisman candidates without having to prove themselves
Shoutout to Aaron Corp for being an Orange Lutheran Lancer in high school just like me!
This is ironic cus i always remember hearing that one of USCs best pitches for recruits was that they run a "Pro-style" offense so they can develop QBs for the NFL better lol
Carson Palmer was aight well for my cards during his tenure here only successful trojan QB to make it in the NFL honestly
Sam Darnold has potential if he was to go to Denver Chicago the Saints or 49ers. Go to the Rams sit behind Stafford for 2 years.
true!
Troy Aikman (UCLA 1986-1988) UCLA Bruins and played at Oklahoma (1984-1985)
My Dad swears that Dart is gonna be the next great college football QB and we are both Notre Dame fans. We have watched multiple of his high school games and he is legit.
Can you do a video on what happened to the Rodgers brothers at Oregon State? Jaquiz and James Rogers
Jacquizz is still in the league. James is out of the league due to injuries
Is there really one school that dominates with QBs in the nfl? I feel like QBs are either hit or miss.
RIGHT !
I honestly can't think of one. There are schools that have produced great QB's, but it's not a consistent thing.
Do another one of these videos for Ohio State? Since they're also a big name school that produces a lot of NFL talent but almost all of their QBs went on to become busts
Fun fact usc teaches qbs to grip the football without the laces, idk why but almost every picture of a USC qb they’re either barely touching the laces or not touching them at all.
Can you do a video on Oregon’s Dennis Dixon
Dixon is on my list
Great video. Can you talk about Ohio State QBs
Next up!
And Alabama
Sanchez was a solid NFL QB. Not a franchise guy of course but a solid starter and a really good backup. Butt Fumble obviously didn't do him any favors for his reputation tho and that pretty much ended his potential to be a starter. Plenty of teams would have been better off with him as their QB imo.
Everyone: Every QB out of USC is a bust.
Carson Palmer: Am I a joke to you?
He was recruited before 2000 lol
Got to do Miami this century. Huge list.
You should do Ohio State since they’re always dogged for having bad QB’s
USC and MICHIGAN you could do a whole 30 for 30 on that subject
There are only a handful of NFL QBs that most of us would want. It's a very difficult position to excel in and most colleges produce more busts than NFL talent. If a given school produces mediocre NFL talent they're actually doing great. I cant come up with any one school that produces lots of good NFL QB talent, it just does not exist.
Basically all the USC QBs end up being pro style passers (even if they’re listed as DUEL like Darnold they’re really more of a Pro guy) with weaker arms who are smart and become greater Backups in the NFL.
Sanchez yes but fumble but he played in 2 AFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES . some players didn't get to play in 1 but he started in the NFL he hit a wall and couldn't be like some and keep getting better
You Gotta GREAT point!!!
It's KINDA like Alabama QBs in the NFL.
The 2 schools have so MANY GREAT recruits the QBs basically just need to know the plays AND put the football in the playmakers hands. Are they one read QBs? Are they READING opposing defenses? Miami used to do the same thing back in the day. You ALMOST have to include The Ohio State University as well. The QBs will win a LOT, BUT is it because of the QB? Hopefully this won't happen to Clemson QBs, especially Trevor Lawrence.
I wouldn't classify Darnold as a bust yet has had no weapons to speak of coaching staff was a joke & ownership is a disaster, that said I found the video very accurate. Maybe do a video on the SMU "death penalty"
Idea Notre Dame and how they're a TE factory
Fun idea!
Maybe you should try and be a qb at one of the best football teams of all time and see how hard it is, so maybe you should just not judge
give me the ball!
went to school with Miller lol, rooting for him next szn
As a big UW fan, I wish Max Browne would have committed to Washington.

I saw him as solid and above average, but not elite.
When I think of BUST... I think of a top 5 or top 10 pick. A 2nd round pick and beyond... if they stick around in the NFL for a few years, that's a WIN. Most guys drafted after round 3 dont make it past year 1.
Yes, please make a video about Aaron Corp! 5 star qb who.. just...disappeared! While you're at it, look up Mitch Mustain, another 5 star qb who started games at Arkansas, transferred after 1 year, then nothing.

Houston nutt never wanted mitch mustain 2 start. He also hated gus malzahns offense. He was under pressure 2 land mustain n a few other instate recruits, he needed malzahn on the coaching staff 2 land them. Mustain went 8-0 as a starter ar arkansas btw. John David Booty lived up to the hype, winning back to back Rose Bowls and going 20-3, but gets no respect.
Mark Sanchez should have stayed senior yr like Pete Carroll told him
Bethel college in Mishawaka Indiana??? Oh my god, I live down the streets!
I just want y’all to know the actual starters in a row were Palmer (H) Leinart (H) JDB (Solid) Sanchez (Elite) Barkley (Elite) Kessler (Elite) Darnold (Elite) Daniels (Not good but not his fault) Slovis (Very good) you cannot say that USC makes busts. That’s like saying Alabama makes busts because the 5 star bench warmers it’s not a fair title considering there’s just been someone who is fantastic blocking them from playing. USC makes fantastic college QBs. They don’t need to do any more than that.
Players like Matt castle who didn’t get any playing time in collage I won’t call them bust
Ohio St has yet to have a nfl qb
As a USC fan I wouldn't be suprised if Kedon Slovis becomes a bust. Hes not big, not fast and doesn't have a strong arm. This is why I don't understand why people say Clay Helton is a good coach. I understand this issue has been going on before he got there but he's been at USC since 2010 and since 2010, he hasn't developed any quarterback. Sam Darnold came out of nowhere with his off script plays that were sensational and made him the #3 pick. But other than that, for a current head coach who is an offensive minded coach and has been a QB coach for a long time at USC, he won't ever get the best out of his players.
Since he has no offense of line, Slovis is going to end up hurt out for the year! With the line they have, you better have a quarterback they can run around and make plays
On Darnold some would say Gase is how QB careers die.
Mike leach quarterbacks would make for an interesting video. Connor halliday from that group would be a great video in itself
I think that would be cool!
@@ScottFisherCFB the only quarterback that he has sent the NFL that has had any production whatsoever is Gardner Minshew. That's a lot of video game numbers in college with no success in the pros
Palmer and Sanchez are the only 2 to have success albeit short lived success, but still success...the rest were complete busts.
I've noticed that most of the 5 star high school players tend to NOT have stellar college careers - similar to 1st round draft picks in the NFL.
It's probably better to be a 3 star high school recruit because less attention is focused on you immediately and you can spend a couple of years building your playing skills and size and strength.
Then get backup playing time in year 3 and then become a starter in year 4, when you're at a player's fully mature size and strength.
Same thing in the NFL - it's better to be a backup for a couple of years, learn the System, acclimate to the NFL game's speed and strength levels. Then in year 3, become a Starter.
Notre Dame is a QB bust factory
Good choice of discussion. No, USC is not a QB bust factory. Unfortunately, most USC QBs just get drafted by really shitty teams, who threw these young kids to the wolves. Leinhart could've been special under the right circumstances. Mark Sanchez went to either 2/3 straight AFC title games, and he was being coached by a lunatic. Alot of people forget Sanchez went to Philly to back up for a season, and got on the field that year due to injury, and he balled out. He wasn't just serviceable. He was good. Got waived the following off season, and never heard from him again. I never would've considered Sanchez a bust. I'd place him behind only Carson Palmer as a successful pro talent. Like so many others n football history, he was never really given a real shot. Darnold is the latest, and yet another great example of being unfairly labeled a bust. He was drafted arguably by the shittiest team n football, with one of the shittiest fanbases n football, and who was his first guy to b an understudy to? Wasn't it Geno Smith? One of the biggest douchebags n the sport. So much so, that his own teammate broke his jaw, literally, for being a douchebag? Yeah, that guy is who Darnold had to look up to. It's a joke. A tragically sad joke. USC produces top talent at every position across the board, almost annually. The problem is, that NFL GMs, do not. It really is that simple.

Can you really call Mark Sanchez a bust? He had lots of success early in his NFL career.
what happened to trevone Boykin?
He made it to Seattle and got bounced out of the league due to legal troubles
