the three period lesson: 1st Period: show the student the objects separately, do not present more than three objects, bring each object to the center of your display place then say the name of this object, ask the student to repeat the name after you, then return it.
2nd Period: take the objects to the center of your display place, politely, ask the student to show you the last object you've presented at the last period, then do the same for the other objects one after the other, repeat with another prompt like can you give me? this time but back the object that the student 've answered correctly.
3rd Period: start bringing the last object you put aside previously to the center of your workplace, ask him, what is this? after he answers say thank you, then but it back, repeat with the other objects separately.
Finally, bring the three objects to the center, remind the child that you taught him three objects today, let's see if you remember, point to each one, then let the student say the object's name.
If the student missed, you can go back and repeat the previous period.
Always ask your student if they like to learn this lesson.
If you want to teach some vocabulary related to a certain lesson, only do this after the child had mastered this lesson. never teach more than three words at a time. Keep reviewing what you 've teach. you can be creative about this

Thank you for sharing this detailed breakdown of the Three Period Lesson! It's a fundamental Montessori technique that helps children internalize and master new vocabulary or concepts at their own pace. Your explanation is clear and thorough, making it easy for others to understand how to implement this method effectively. Always remembering to ask the child if they want to learn and keeping the lessons simple and focused on just a few words at a time are key points that ensure a positive and successful learning experience. Thanks again for this great contribution!

It’s interesting how every training center (AMS, AMI, CMI) teaches just a little bit different one from another and yet so often we think that our way is the “right way”. Due to my personal bias I prefer the language I was trained to use. “Please say ‘blue’”, instead of “Can you say blue?”, “What is this?” Instead of “Can I ask you to tell me what this is?” It is more clear and concise and less confusing . I was also trained to say “thank you” to the child after each time they respond to my request. I thank the child rather than saying what kind of job they’ve done or if they’ve gotten it right. I appreciate the effort put into these training videos. Some of the advice is sure to help teachers and parents.

I agree, it's fascinating how AMS, AMI, and CMI each have their own unique approaches. Your preference for using clear and concise language, like "Please say 'blue'" instead of "Can you say blue?" makes a lot of sense-it can definitely be less confusing for children. I also think thanking children for their responses rather than evaluating their performance aligns well with the Montessori principle of respecting the child’s effort. These training videos indeed provide valuable insights that can be beneficial for both teachers and parents. Thanks for sharing your experience!

I had a conversation with my AMI trainer, we try not to overuse ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ during lessons. Otherwise, these phrases can become the most frequent words instead of the key vocabulary we want to focus on. The goal is to keep the lesson short, sweet, and centered on the specific words we’re introducing

I notice you don't say anything when she gets it right. Are you not supposed to even let the child know they've got it right. I switched from saying good job or well done to yes you did it and you got it right.

When our child is not ready, we just let it go and wait for another moment to 'offer' a lesson. We need to try and make it as exciting as possible.

    • @SunshineTeachersTraining
      @SunshineTeachersTraining  Před 8 měsíci

Congratulations on opening your new Montessori school! It's a significant step and a wonderful journey you've embarked upon. Teaching reading in the Montessori way can initially seem challenging, but with the right approach and understanding, it becomes a fulfilling experience.
In Montessori education, we focus on a step-by-step approach to reading, starting with phonetic awareness, moving to blending sounds, and gradually introducing more complex reading skills. It's all about providing the right materials at the right time and allowing each child to progress at their own pace.
Don't worry if you're still feeling a bit uncertain - it's a learning process for educators as well. I would recommend starting with some foundational Montessori reading materials and guides. Additionally, keep an eye on our upcoming videos, as we plan to cover this topic in more detail to assist new Montessori educators like yourself.
Remember, every Montessori journey begins with a single step. You're doing a great job, and with time and experience, your confidence in teaching reading will grow. Best of luck, and feel free to reach out if you have specific questions along the way! 😊

    • @SunshineTeachersTraining
      @SunshineTeachersTraining  Před 6 měsíci

Absolutely, I'd be delighted to help you build English vocabulary tailored for preschool use, utilizing the Montessori 3-period lesson approach. This method is perfect for introducing young learners to new words in a structured and memorable way. Here are some categories and examples of words that are commonly used and relevant in a preschool setting:
      Colors:
      Red
      Blue
      Yellow
      Green
      Orange
      Purple
      Shapes:
      Circle
      Square
      Triangle
      Rectangle
      Star
      Heart
      Animals:
      Cat
      Dog
      Bird
      Fish
      Elephant
      Lion
      Body Parts:
      Hand
      Foot
      Eye
      Ear
      Mouth
      Nose
      Numbers (One to Ten):
      One
      Two
      Three
      Four
      Five
      Six
      Seven
      Eight
      Nine
      Ten
      Nature:
      Sun
      Moon
      Tree
      Flower
      Rock
      Leaf
Introducing these words through the Montessori 3-period lesson will help in effectively building a foundational vocabulary for preschoolers. Practice each word by showing the object or picture (introduction), asking the child to identify it among others (recognition), and finally asking the child to name it independently (recall). This method not only enhances vocabulary but also aids in cognitive development and language skills.
I hope these suggestions help, and I look forward to providing more resources and ideas to support your educational journey. If you have any specific areas or themes you're interested in, please let me know. Your engagement and dedication to early childhood education are truly inspiring. Thank you for being a part of our community!
