Adding additional back pressure in the exhaust system, the exhaust gas can't escape fast enough, you will generate more heat and pressure in the system, which will cause engine performance to drop and your gas mileage will go down.
There is a reason those exhausts have different diameters, varies on engine size, performance.
There is a reason our old vehicles had headers and real dual exhaust.
