- A woman at the center of the Las Vegas criminal case against accused sexual predator Nathan Chasing Horse sat down with the 8 News Now Investigators to share her story.
My native father is very similar to this man - beautiful native looking guy, very very charming and open, sociable, charismatic, proud, very funny and kind. He's also a convicted grapist and child abuser, destroying other women before he married my mother. During the marriage he graped a female friend and then focusing on us - my twin sister and i from 7-12yrs of age. His own little harem of hell. He was sentenced the first time for 5 years, then 12 years for us children. He spent a total of 6.5 years. Quite the charmer.
I have found that there is a sickness in native communities, engendered by intergenerational trauma, poverty and the dissolution of the Self/identity. This environment leaves a stain on the native psyche where lateral violence is internalised onto its own people rather than on the system's that put us there.
With that said, i still, as an individual, have a choice on how i choose to live, love and feel.
I am not my father's daughter. I am survivor, just like this lovely, strong woman.

The white indigenous Sami of Norway were very much persecuted as the Native Americans They had their children taken from them and put into boarding schools where they were punished if they spoke their language or worshiped their gods. Etc. Every race has been a slave. Every race has suffered horrible atrocities. Ancestral trauma affects us all. It is not an excuse to be a g r apist or to harm children. Ever.
@@Nono38-jj1tk did not claim it as an excuse. I see it as a side effect of societies and cultures that have been broken and individuals within that society choosing to remain broken.
It is not easy to recover as a group, culture and individual, but recovery is possible amongst strong people and a choice - you have to make the final choice.
The only part that's crazy is that rumors about him have floated around for years. I don't know how he got away with it for so long.

This blows my mind. Those poor poor young girls. What happens to people like him, are they born that way you think? He had a once promising acting career, but now he’s on his way to prison where he belongs.
I used to Sundance at AIM Sundance at Pipestone Mn. I first met Nathan when he was a young boy. He never got disciplined for anything he did growing up. I know several girls that he raped & molested and they are scarred for life by his dibachary. He NEEDS to go to jail !

This is not uncommon in our Native communities , where Native men make claims they’re spiritual and prey on young girls. Im encouraged the cycle is being brought to the light .In 2006 I turned in a Village Chief for sexual misconduct …in doing this I knew I would lose my job and that my reputation would be in question..even though he had previous lawsuits which were paid to other victims by the Tribe; including A child out of wedlock (he was married), and the mother of the child committed suicide . I walked away knowing I did the right thing but traumatized .

@@sophifamarruffo7557 She never said that she was kidnapped, both were deceived with false promises that they were going to cure her mother's cancer and for that reason they had to go and live in that "community". Why do you accuse them of being crazy? Do you have any idea of the years of suffering and torment that she went through as a child and adolescent? she actually clarified that she had attempted suicide. The trauma and the aftermath that she left behind that experience will take years to heal. I don't know what her mother is like, what are you basing yourself on to accuse her of being an embezzler? What I do regret is that she did not realize what her daughter was going through. I hope justice is done, for Corena and for all the girls and adolescents who suffer from this problem.⚖️💓✊

He was on the powwow circuit and we hung out a little. We were both still very young. Im sad and surprised to hear he threw everything away like this, but not really THAT surprised... he was placed on a pedestal and paraded around as the main attraction during powwow. I never thought that would be a good thing.

you really have to wonder about someone defending a predator over and over. Maybe they were a victim, too... Either way, they are delusional--in this particular case, this has been know for DECADES across many states/tribes and even into Canada. This is not some random accusation out of the blue. The videos he had in that house with him in them with CHILDREN mean sosmething. For whatever reason, if you are against her (I mean, look at all your comments putting her down, trying to distract, and trying to discredit her) that doesn't take away the FACT that he has left a long line of various types of abuse, lies, and the mistreatment in the worst way of children.
