    I believe ramadan means scorching heat. Fasting the month of scorching heat. Simple to understand. It's the hottest month of the year, which is July. I also learned that we should follow a luni-solar calendar. See 10:5. So the months are always in the same period. I believe the restricted months are in summer. 9:81 tell us they are in summer. I believe the month in which the Quran was revealed is the first of those four months, all others follow it consecutively.
    Hopefully this comment will help someone out there.

      Some are saying due to their research that it’s in September. Look at -simply Muslim- channel and at -know the truth- channel , the hijri calendar. I myself haven’t looked into it and done my own study as of yet. But it does seem that Ramadan is a set month every year and does not rotate through the months. A’LLah knows best. Salam

    Hi. It's a rather easy topic to understand. What we need to know is in surah 2 verses 183 to 187. As you mentioned in the video, if a person is sick or traveling in the month of ramadan, he fasts for each day he missed once ramadan is over. Those with recurring illnesses/hardships feed the poor instead of fasting (but fasting is better for them if they can do it).
    But I can't say I agree with you on the "anxiety" thing. It doesn't change anything. If you're healthy, you fast, that's the bottom line. Situations which involve anxiety/fear are addressed accordingly in the quran, such as 4:101 (If you fear that the rejectors will fall upon you), 2:239 (If you are in a state of fear, then you may do so while walking or riding), 4:34 (as for those women from whom you fear disloyalty)... Fear/worry/anxiety is not brought up on the subject of fasting. Therefore, it depends on whether or not you are healthy enough to fast (or traveling).
    Hope this helps make it a bit more clear.

      I'll have a look at those verses soon, but as of now I disagree. If someone is overly anxious about this pandemic to the point of severe anxiety, the idea of fasting which may reduce your ability to effectively protect you from the virus not only in my opinion counts as illness, but also will take someone away from their ability to properly gratify and appreciate God. As I said, i believe it's a matter of personal self assessment and people are bound to have differing opinions. I appreciate your input and I'll definitely read these verses in context to fasting.
      Peace

      I'm inclined to tentatively agree with you. I'm not an Islamic scholar and I wont pretend to be. I do, however, come from the medical/healthcare background. While fasting under normal circumstances is fine, I think most Muslims would agree that the experience of fasting lowers one's immunity and we can become more susceptible to colds and flus. I think the reality is that most people who become infected with the novel coronavirus will either show no or just minor symptoms. However, if fasting, I suspect (we don't know for sure) that the lower immunity may promote a more extreme response to infection. So I think fasting right now is going to significantly weaken the ummah.

      @@TheBritishMuslim_ Keep in mind that fasting can also be beneficial to your immune system. There are studies that suggest that.

    Can it be that the al shahr means the full moon
    Full moon is visible to the naked eye about 3 days. Maybe we should fast 3 days every month...?

    Should we fast while being quarantined? Because doctors prescribe that we should drink water regularly like after each quarter during these days of this pandemic

    Hello thank you for the videos.
    btw I have a question that really bothers me these few weeks.. since the authorities and (sunni) imams are letting people to do Friday prayer at home (doing regular prayer instead).
    I sometimes feel really confused and guilty about leaving the friday congregation, and do a prayer alone at home. Because I find the quran really tells no exception about going to friday congregation, and it's very clear. yet the government and everyone are in different opinion about this.
    Do you have opinion about this (or maybe make a video on this matter) . Thank you very much
    Greetings from Indonesia

      I understand, but I don't think you should feel guilty. God instructs us to use critical thinking in the Quran and not attending Friday prayers due to the virus may be just that.
      We are all facing odd situations admits this virus and I wish you all the best 👍

    Hey brother I’m curious where did you get the idea of Ramadan is 30 days and that now is Ramadan if your fasting

    • @TheBritishMuslim_
      @TheBritishMuslim_  Před 4 lety +1

      Hey, I do believe Ramadan can be read as a different time and date in the Quran, but regardless of that, I do enjoy fasting the conventional 30 days regardless as I feel it helps me focus on religion more and gain more self control. I hope you’re well

    • @Unbelievable-yf6en
      @Unbelievable-yf6en Před 4 lety

      The British Muslim well if that is the case then It don’t matter either your Quran Alone or Hadith follower you both follows feelings because the idea of Ramadan is 30 days only come from one sourcer and that is Hadith you cannot call yourself a Quran aloner when you still living the Hadith!

    • @TheBritishMuslim_
      @TheBritishMuslim_  Před 4 lety

      I’ve never followed the Hadith. I converted to Islam following the Quran alone. I haven’t once said that this is the way Ramadan should be followed; I have constantly stated that there are various view on it. Regardless of this, fasting during the conventional Ramadan for better self control does not make you a Hadith follower, it makes you smart. It doesn’t matter what religion practices come from, as long as they don’t harm anyone and don’t contradict your religion (Islam by the Quran for me) there is no harm in partaking, especially when you find benefits like self control from them. Do you disagree?

      The physical practice of yoga comes from early Hinduism. Does practicing this for better health make me a Hindu? No, it makes me smart for understanding the benefits of different practices.

      The British Muslim it depend with yoga are you doing prayers in yoga?,associate anyone with in your your yoga? I am pretty sure you post about we don’t need hadith other than Quran and that Quran is fully detailed but yet you still practicing outside the Quran, is it that Shirk/idolatry! How can you re-program yourself from Your fathers religion when you still follow some parts and deny parts
