    I’m from the 02124 section of Dorchester. We have our own identity but we don’t have our own sound. Tell a nyc dude “on dogs” they’ll look at you crazy. At the same time it’s hard to get away from East coast slang because of our location. We need young hungry sound engineers.

    Y’all only problem is no Boston artist has made the outside world have a good understanding of Boston’s identity. People can’t even name the neighborhoods in Boston if they’ve never visited Boston. People all over the world know of Bed Stuy. People all over the world know of Decatur. People all over the world know of Compton. I know that may sound trivial. But, you know what? Boston are haven’t tried to get too deep into describing their environment. That makes listeners more intrigued. And y’all do that until y’all stop follow every other place. Y’all have a rich history of black Free Mason but I’ve never heard a Boston artist mention anything of it. Y’all have a huge diverse population of Black people but I’ve never heard a Boston artist describe any friction between all of the groups. Listen, you have to intellectualize your street culture to break through. Like, do you think Atlanta would be what it is today if OutKast didn’t bring depth and intelligence to Atlanta’s rap scene?

    Boston doesn’t have an identity because we are not defined as one people but by the many things we bring to the table, our diverse backgrounds and artistic visions. We’re a Boss Town so maybe we should move like our own bosses together FOR Boston and be our OWN industry. Create our own venues and curate our own talent pools and neighborhoods. Not by sets or crews but by vibes, cuz only we can break it down by the feel and by the hour. I imagine a Middle East in other neighborhoods that don’t even sell alcohol or parking lots reserved for food trucks and brewery pop ups, and even the seaport hosting concerts and award shows for Berkeley students. Like legit we got class AND diversity and each one of us is dope af. Like imagine the paramount filled with just our generation sound, it’s like OB or BLS talent shows but on steroids. Ok I’m done

      I think you're 100% right. We just have to get on the same page so that we can start putting these things together collectively. Bringing awareness to the situation was the first step, now we have to keep talking about it until everyone becomes hipped to the collect movement that has been put in place.

    Wiseguys tape so dope. Those goodfella intros set the mood. That tape is on the level of children of the corner (big l, mase, Cameron, Bloodsheed) in my opinion. They were to real to blow mainstream. So fucking fire.

    There's a reason why they did that, though.It's historically been that way, so they can keep the inner city Potter.Boston closed out has been since all those great groups previous years.That helped set them up the same thing.We had better outlets than but never the quite the unity that we needed

    • @Dropzne
      @Dropzne  Před měsícem

      Based on your experience, have you seen any progression in recent years towards unifying the music scene? If not what do you think we can do as a community to advance this movement?

    • @arthurrobinson4644
      @arthurrobinson4644 Před měsícem

      The artist must support each other's projects as a whole. So you can create a movement and become a pipline Boston , and the adjacent towns in Mass as a whole

    • @arthurrobinson4644
      @arthurrobinson4644 Před měsícem

      @Dropzne Historicaly most of the artist come from different places and are fabrics of their neighborhood or communities. So supporting another artist project or unifying with them could be challenging depending on the history between the communities.

      Michael Jewelry I’m not hating on anything, if you knew me you’d know that I would like nothing more than for our city to prosper. But how can we prosper when we literally got sidelined in our own documentary? Why is Eaze Dollarz answering 1 question then never appears in the video again yet the Cambridge artists have the spotlight the whole video? Even went back to them a few times

    • @MikeEzeOfficial
      @MikeEzeOfficial Před 4 lety

      Michael Jewelry I like Cambridge and enjoy the music scene but Cambridge is NOT Boston. Don’t call this a BOSTON music scene Doc then show another town for a majority of the video

    • @MikeEzeOfficial
      @MikeEzeOfficial Před 4 lety

      Michael Jewelry let me put it like this. You don’t go to a Brooklyn music documentary and mostly see rappers from the Bronx or Manhattan.

    • @MikeEzeOfficial
      @MikeEzeOfficial Před 4 lety

      Michael Jewelry I LOVE my city and I want to see it gain the respect and recognition it deserves! There’s so many Boston artists that’re native here, there’s Cousin Stizz, Michael Christmas, Jefe Replay, 7981 Cal, G Fredo, and numerous people I personally know that are striving to make it to the top FROM the city yet one of the first modern day Boston music documentary is ignoring all that for people not even from here. I’m passionate about my city and I want nothing more than to see it prosper but to see Boston Rappers I know are making a killing and trying to get it out the mud get shafted for people who are not local just doesn’t sit right with me.
