when i grew up in the late 90s we called it metallic HC before the term metalcore. But that was in the era when bands like Converge, Morning Again, Shai Hulud, Congress (H8000 band) were simply considered a hardcore band where lyrics were very much important. Which is why i really love Contention as the lyrics are very introspective and meaningful. Lyrics are just as important as the music. But yeah great interview with such an amazing band!!
The question at 11.17mins at what is too big? mmmmh i would say look at the band Turmoil. I think they were on a major label at that time but i think as long as it will never be too big as long as the band recognises that they are part of a wider HC community etc.

For what it's worth, and I love Turmoil, but they were never on a major label and they were never remotely "big." They were never really even able to make a living from the band and they actually had a bigger following in Europe.
