I met Eddie one time, maybe 7 years ago or so, at the Tsunami Hardcore fest at Reverb in Reading. I think Ezec was touring with him cuz he was there too. We smoked a joint. It was something I will always cherish. He is awesome. Best wishes with your health, music, writing, and everything you are doing.
Thanks Eddie for all the great memories!! When the “Super Bowl” was held in the winter was some of the greatest lineups as far as I’m concerned. I remember stealing cars from Ocean County NJ to make those shows. I remember stealing one during a blizzard getting all the way there for it to be postponed because of the snowstorm. Enjoyed hanging with you doing out things on the dL. Thanks from “Sick Jack the Maniac”.
I had never heard of them and they opened up for Cromags in 88 at the 930 club in DC, I was blown away and they were my new favorite band for years. Raybees was there, Never forget it.
My first HC concert in 1993 in Die Fabrik in Potsdam. Leeways Kingpin on the RockHard video compilation opened my heart for HC. Good to see Eddie again 2019 in Berlins Cassiopeia.
I was a fan and through the years we became friends - Eddie was so talented (as was the band) Leeway should have been bigger but NYC and east coast always knew. Bless you Eddie!
Leeway played the Channel Dec 1990 and June & September 1991. Don’t think any of them were Pow/Mia benefits but I do remember those shows. The Sept ‘91 show was w/Slapshot who played a few veterans benefit shows so maybe it was that one?
Too bad he got into smack and fucked himself up. He was a tremedous performer and had a great presence on stage. Leeway during the desperate measures era was the best show you could go to.
Hardcore is American? By far the most influential hardcore band ( and a huge influence on what became 'thrash' metal ) is Discharge, listen to their early songs then listen to Bad Brains. Is there a type of hardcore punk that is distinctly American? Yes. Did anyone 'invent' punk and/or hardcore punk? No. Music evolves, it is never 'invented'. Leeway weren't even HC, Born is a crossover record & the other 2 albums are mostly alternative rock
Leeway is criminally underrated. Best crossover band of all time! Truly unique with amazing songwriting and awesome hard hitting songs
Should be as big as Megadeath! Born to Expire is one of the heaviest albums ever!👊🏻💪🏻💙
Rest In Power, Eddie.
Amazing front man, amazing band! RIP Eddie
