  • The Magic of Airplants
Tillandsia, commonly known as air plants, are fascinating and unique plants that don’t require soil to grow. They are part of the Bromeliaceae family and thrive on just air and light. Here are some tips for caring for your Tillandsia:
Light and Temperature: Provide bright, indirect sunlight or full-spectrum fluorescent lighting. Air plants prefer warm conditions between 50-90 degrees Fahrenheit1.
Water and Humidity: Mist your air plants regularly, and give them a 20-30 minute soak weekly. Ensure they have enough time to dry out between waterings1.
Air Circulation: Good air circulation is vital. After watering, allow the plants to dry completely before placing them back in their designated spot.
Fertilizing: You can fertilize your air plants once a month with a bromeliad fertilizer or a diluted regular houseplant fertilizer.
Mounting: Air plants can be mounted on different surfaces using wire, fishing line, or glue. Just make sure not to cover the base of the plant where new leaves will emerge.
Propagating: Air plants can be propagated by separating pups (baby plants) from the mother plant when they are about one-third of her size.
