- Martin Appelo, PhD is a psychologist, trainer with Cure & Care Development (Arnhem). He currently works as a cognitive behavioral therapist in private practice as well as at Het Behouden Huis (Haren, Groningen), a center for patients suffering from cancer. Previously he has worked in several psychiatric hospitals to develop new treatment and training programs for psychotic patients and was in charge of the research department of the GGz Groningen, an organization coordinating all non-academic psychiatric institutions in Groningen. Martin published several books (in Dutch). Grief, empowerment and resilience are the central concepts in his work.
At TEDxGroningen, he explains the moment he realized that he is a narcisist, and speaks to the other narcisists in the audience about how to better relate to the rest of us.

Wauw, dit is precies hoe een narcist te werk gaat, heel boeiend om te zien! Als je net als ik te maken hebt gehad met een narcist zie je meteen dat alles klopt wat Martin zegt!
Het is nog niet de helft van wat een narcist doet. Een narcist mishandelt zijn slachtoffer, iedereen in de omgeving van de narcist wordt gemanipuleerd, mishandeld of gemanipuleerd om gezamenlijk te mishandelen.

Wat een geweldige 'coming out'. In mijn praktijk heb ik de laatste tijd ook wel eens een enkele narcist die het 'van zichzelf doorheeft' en op zoek wil gaan naar meer bewustzijn. En naar heling met de gekwetste ex-partner.

Precies, het is namelijk de KERN vd stoornis! Elke NPS kenner weet dat echte narcisten GEEN zelf inzicht KUNNEN hebben. De truc is juist dat ze doen ALSOF en iedereen trapt erin. Appelo voorop!!!
Caroline....lees eens een boek van Iris Koops of Mjon van Oers. Wel eens van projectie gehoord en future faking om maar wat te noemen? Iemand met NPS gaat 9 vd 10 x met de (bijna) ex partner in therapie om te 'hooveren' en de ex ( en therapeut) zien een vals imago. Een narcist mentaliseert niet, heling met een ex partner bestaat niet.
Nou nee 'knappert' ik zie wat anders.

Zijn boeken zijn al even helder en niet-beschuldigend. Na 73 jaar in het ongewisse over zoveel "verhuizingen" erg blij met zijn inzichten, die me een constructief (retro-) perspectief bieden.
Zijn boek: Verslagen door het tuchtrecht....=niet beschuldigend? Typisch een narc boek!! (geen inhoud, copie van anderen etc etc)

Vond het eigenlijk wel knap dat hij het zo verteld, lijkt me zeer authentiek. Niks triest aan. Kern van het verhaal is dat veel liefde voorwaardelijk is, en enkel zijn kids in deze onvoorwaardelijk zijn desondanks het feit dat hij een narcist is, en aangeeft dat hij dat wel op prijs stelt.
