    Appreciate you sharing your journey with us. Honesty and vulnerability are qualities many content makers don’t have. Stay genuine and do your thing. It’s the best recipe to health and happiness. If you ever find an IPP that CAN fly, give me a shout, I’ll purchase a few of the offspring.

      Well thankyou for that. I'm a big fan of transparency. I am who I am and you get what you see. The guy you see on film is who I am in person...accept my language is better on film lol.

    Thanks, Chris, very informative. Looks like you have some really good temperament over all, even the one who wasn't as good as the others really wasn't bad. Even if hes not breeding quality, he'll make a pretty well mannered feeder or pet, probably.

      Oh, just an FYI, "evaluation" was misspelled on your thumbnail, but correctly in the title.

      Hey thanks Linette. We were very picky in our breeding stock. Nice pigs tend to breed nice pigs

    Thank you for sharing your evaluation.
    I have a 6 month old boar that is very pushy and tends to bite my calf when I'm in with them.
    My thought is I don't like his temperament. But am I being too picky.
    And how do you castrate a 6 month old

      He's being a pain in the rear child. Give him a few stout smacks on the nose when he goes to bite you and he'll figure out that you don't like. Now I would assume you move away quickly and he moves in to bite again? If so...it's a game in his piggy brain. As for how to castrate a 6 month old.....with some good strong helpers. I'd say one to sit on the pig, one to hold each leg, and you do the cutting.

    Great video. Is the teet alignment on the boat or sow side. Would you cull the one responsible parent? Tks

    • @Rockin8Farm
      @Rockin8Farm  Před rokem

      Both! You can take a sow with a less than perfect underline and breed her to a boar with a GREAT underline and correct it....sometimes. I know folks that have bred a boar and a sow that both had 7 X 7 faultless underlines and still had piglets with underlines weren't the greatest. Culling and breeding is just all part of standardizing a breed that isn't all that old but I wouldn't cull a sow or boar necessarily. I'd just try them with a different partner. They're like us. Some couples make really pretty kids and some couple do not.
