I was at this game and was at the perfect angle to watch that touchdown. What people don’t see is how INSANE Pat is at using his eyes for misdirection. Everyone always says how he’s just as fast as he needs to be (which is hilarious and true), but he has gotten so good at making players hesitate by making them think he’s going one way with his eyes but then going a completely different direction. It’s an art.
As a retail employee, that feeling feels mighty familiar.
I’m a Seahawks fan and I was in a KC bar Christmas Eve. Those fans are so grateful for what they have in Mahomes, Kelece and Reid.
Was at this game and it was absolutely ELECTRIFYING. The stadium was chanting MVP after that Mahomes TD!

Exactly! I've said so many times that he runs just fast enough.
This play wasn't really about his speed. It was just a super smart play. The defender dives early because he thinks he's forced Mahomes out-of-bounds, but Mahomes uses his left hand to keep himself upright long enough to lunge forward and swing his right arm around to hit the pylon. He's playing outside of the field, but is technically not out-of-bounds yet.
As a Chiefs fan that has gone through the dark days of Kyle Orton, Tyler Thigpen, Brodie Croyle....Patrick Mahomes is a miracle for our team. We've spent 50 years waiting for this guy and we'd gladly wait another 50 if it meant we got him again.

As a Chiefs fan I always try to show respect to all other NFL teams. You're never as good as you think you are and even with Mahomes it's tough to get all the way. Losing huge games has kept me humble as a Chiefs fan.
But I do agree, it's an amazing thing to have him on our team an it's not something I take for granted. He is not going to be around forever so I'm just enjoying what we have now.
I've also been saying it for a while now, Travis is the best TE to ever play. The timing of him rising to the top and what the NFL has now become, along with us getting Mahomes, has sent him to another level. What a special time to be a Chiefs fan.

As a KC fan I always wondered what it would look like to have someone like a Tom Brady, and what it would mean for the team.
Honestly, as mind-bogglingly great Mahomes has been so far in his young career, it has made me realize that it's still just 1 piece of the puzzle. A mostly true team sport. But even with an MVP-caliber QB you still need a good coach and staff, good defense, good O-line, and good skill players on your offense in order to win it all. And the best talent doesn't always win either. Definitely humbling.

My old man has been a chiefs fan for the same amount of time, I was birthed into fandom during the late 80’s. The 90’s and priest/hall solidified my fanaticism, and I was lucky enough to see a Super Bowl win before I was 30. Spoiled is an understatement.

Seriously though, in a similar point to what Pat said, I need to make sure I am enjoying this and not getting worked up about perfection and or having too high of an expectation because I get to thinking we are supposed to win every season, but none of it is a given.

Growing up in Missouri, when the Alex Smith years were going, I thought that that would realistically be our ceiling for the forseeable future. A good team that could skim a few wins against great teams, but never really a top contender for the Lambo. With Mahomes, every Sunday feels like a game the team can win and it's so much fun watching him do insane things just like it's normal

Another MVP moment for Patrick Mahomes
Us long time members of the Chiefs Kingdom know how blessed we are to have Pat as our QB. Mike Livingston, Steve Fuller,Todd Blackledge, Steve DeBerg, Steve Bono, Elvis Grbac, and Matt Cassel are just a few of the QBs that caused me to suffer from PTSD.
Todd Blackledge was the only other QB taken in the 1st round of the draft by the Chiefs. Back when we got high draft picks because of our record. I'm old enough to remember the 1st Super Bowl win, so I remember every QB you listed. 100% agree!
As someone who was born into the kingdom it is awesome and beautiful to watch our guy play

As a Pats fan this is the only guy I could see ever topping the GOAT. He is definitely the most talented qb to ever play the game and time will tell if he's the greatest too.
Brady passed for 4,500 yds and 40 touchdowns in 5 of his 21 yrs. Brees did the same in 4 of his 19 yrs. Mahomes has done this amazing feat in 4 of his 5 yrs as a starter. Mahomes has set a bar that will be tough to match.
@@billhorton2564 Can't just compare their stats as if it was apples to apples. Brady was drafted into the NFL 17 years before Mahomes. Passing efficiency and rate was much lower back then. And obviously you can't ignore the fact that Brady has 7 rings compared to Mahomes' 1.
I moved to Kansas City in 1990 to go to college and ended up staying here. It was the front end of the Carl Peterson/Marty Schottenheimer era. Those were fun days. After that there was not alot to cheer for save for some fun offense during the Vermiel era. Fast forward to today with Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes II and it really is something special. You really hate to miss a second of it because at any time Patrick can do something so amazing that you just sit there and grin. I watched this video with that same grin. I appreciate the love Pat Mc and crew are showing and saying out loud what most people secretly think: "I want this guy on my team!" This is year 5 ... it is like watching your baby grow up way too fast. On top of all of this, Patrick represents our city like no other. Truly a great man on and off of the field. God Bless Patrick Mahomes II. May he play forever and always as a Chief!

I think one reason he doesn't get as much credit as a runner is because the majority of the time when he's moving them legs, he's really just trying to buy time to make a throw (and honestly, he's probably more dangerous in that mode), and when he's doing that sort of scrambling, he doesn't so much run as he 'SCOOTS'. Like, he's just squirting from one place to the next, always completely aware of how close the defenders are behind him, just trying to keep out of their grasp long enough for someone down-field to get open for a microsecond so he can whip the ball to 'em. He just doesn't LOOK like much of a runner although he is doing great things when he does.
It's so fun to have P15 at QB and I'm still not used to it, the success we've been having. I'm used to our seasons ending with the regular season 😅 and there's so many other great teams and great QB's in the AFC now! I'm excited for our future against the great competition. Allen, Burrow, Lamar and Jherb. These dudes are all great and the teams are so unique. Miami with McDaniel's now, so many ways to open things up w Waddle and Hill. I mean, it's just a fun time to be a football fan. The NFC gotta start catching up!

I'm 28, so I wasn't able to see Jordan play. Watching Mahomes play football is what I imagine it was like for people to watch Jordan back in the day. My dad described it as something just completely different.

Saw the Chiefs on TV in Super Bowl I and IV. First "in person" game was "The Longest Game".....so, a longtime fan.
Except for the Len Dawson years, the "90% Joe Montana Years", Steve DeBurg, aka "The Master of Play Action" some of the Trent Green years, it's mostly been 50 plus years of mediocre quarterbacks and offenses. And when the offense was good, the defense usually sucked.
Used to be when the Chiefs were down by 21 in the third or fourth quarter, I'd turn the TV off, because everyone knew this Chiefs were incapable of staging a comeback

One thing to remember we are a single 4Q super bowl comeback away from being WORSE than the Bills of the 90's...25% close rate of AFC Champ Game appearances... I want WINS.
