As a 13 year old I was so excited that I got to touch the car they were all sitting in lol. I have Agnethas signature which I still treasure to this day.

Live music man. I am a Heavy Metal fan, but holy h*ll, ABBA delivered the goods here. They were not a studio product the way people generally believed at the time and still do .. they each toured extensively before they were famous. Agnetha started at 17yrs under the supervision of her father I think.
They KNEW how to play live. Oh man I miss live music, there is nothing better than to lose yourself completely at a concert .. pure ecstasy ..
It is obvious the band enjoyed playing.

Btw, if you like ABBA's stage costumes - they're created by zoologist Owe Sandström who designed ALL ABBA's stage outfits while working as a high school teacher, went with them on tour in the 70's and then returned to his job as a teacher. He still works as a teacher and teach about animal and about the respect of animals. There's a lot of material of him as such here on CZcams👍

Your correct it is the late Ola Brunkert on drums and you briefly see Frida dance with bass guitarist, the late Rutger Gunnarrsson, both extremely talented musicians who play on most of ABBA's records. During the Does Your Mother Know guitar solo Agnetha and Frida wrap themselves around guitarist Lasse Wellander who was another very regular musician ABBA worked with in the studio.

ABBA is a studio band on the other hand there is so much quality in the band and the musicians who are in the background that you can't easily say that they are only top in the studio.
In an interview about Tour 78/79, the Tour Manager said that Abba wanted the best for this tour in terms of technology and what was on the market at the time.

They were also great live in the Dick Cavett tv-show from 1981, less visual energy, Frida seemed sad (just right after Benny left her), but wonderful vocal performances in for instance 'Me and I', 'Summer Night City' and 'Super Trouper'.

I expected you to go bananas with Hole in Your Soul. It's very upbeat and happy.... or is it? Like most Abba songs it has a darker message:
"You paint your world and use all colours
And then you find it all comes out too bright
You know it's only a lie
The songs you sing are too romantic
And when you want the truth
They only spit in your eye
Oh yeah, they're only telling you lies"
    That bridge is amazing.
Wow. Your life of excess isn't true. But when you want the truth, no one gives it to you.
What a performance, what a song, what delivery.
Yeah, it was all right for sure.

    And finally the day arrives...
    (after six months)
    and Dereck react to
    'Hole in your soul" live!
Everything you say is very true The control of the supporting musicians when the girls are around them The brilliant harmonies of the four (not just the two girls anymore) The energy and enjoyment that enhances their songs
I add a context data that elevates what you say The recital is the closing of the North America/Europe Tour September/November 1979
At the beginning of that year the blonde singer Agnetha and the guitarist and singer Björn had already separated; However, their professionalism allowed them to share the love for their music and that energy put on stage
    Something about the two songs:
"Does your mother know" with Björn added to Agnetha and Frida at the leads vocales, was the second single from their six album "Voulez Vous" (1979) pick #3 in UK
"Hole in your soul" wasn't a single, it's a hidden gem in their five album "ABBA The Album" (1977)
ABBA gave the best of itself in that mythical setting
It had been almost two hours and 20 songs
And they arrive at this epic moment with the four in front of their audience (after a memorable melodic and heavenly bridge of the singers Agnetha and Frida and their highest and highest notes)
Then there will be the special numbers. They will return to close with the emotional "The way all friends do" followed by their greatest worldwide hit "Dancing Queen"
And the final bonus will be the iconic "Waterloo", the song that gave them the triumph there in England in the remembered 1974 Eurovision Contest that put ABBA in the consideration of the music world
Here is the link to this final trio of songs ("Waterloo" with image of the first minute, but the complete audio)
    czcams.com/video/MeRESZjq8J0/video.html
    You did before
"The way all Friends do" live,
but I think that could be react the sequence complete
Thank you again so much for giving us this gift for all ABBA fans
My best wishes for you from

Totally agree-I always thought such a missed opportunity….ABBA The Movie was too chopped up and not enough complete music and backstage….I read the producer/director of the movie thought fans would find just a music concert boring……was he ever wrong!!….but why a complete concert from Wembley wasn’t recorded is truly baffling as they did at least 5 shows….a live audio CD of a Wembley concert is available but given it’s the 70’s sound quality isn’t as good as on video or in the movie….

    • @resireg
      @resireg Před 2 lety

Not really. Super group means normally a band formed with members of other prominent bands, like Mike & the Mechanics (Genesis +Paul Carrack and Paul Young), Velvet Revolver (Guns n Roses and Stone Temple Pilots), Plastic Ono Band (Eric Clapton, John Lennon), CSNY (Yardbirds, The Hollies, Buffalo Springfield), even Damn Yankees (Ted Nugent and some other guys). That is the idea of a supergroup.

@@resireg yeah that's true but I'm pretty sure the term was used in the press back then and may just have been a generic term used like stadium bands , studio bands
