Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another ABBA reaction made possible via PATREON with "He Is Your Brother," LIVE in Australia. All four members get their turn to shine on the mic, and both Frida and Agnetha go bananas. It's the kind of live performance I've been waiting to see.

Such a hidden gem of ABBA.
I also love when the guys and the girls in ABBA trade places vocally...many people are stuck on the women doing the vocals but Benny and Björn did that brilliantly as well..not the least as background vocals that they often were in ...but also as lead vocals..
Agnetha goes incredibly high towards the end of Hole in you soul live
They did something very rare. They deliberately toured Australia at a loss. to ensure tickets are affordable to their fans. tickets were about $12. About $35 in today’s money. Clearly thats money that would recoup in Album sales
Only one word can discribe this performance.Explosive!
ABBAs sophomore single... Btw fridas red hair omg so beautiful in my eyes😘
The Australian tour was their best tour, it had all the bells & whistles. Full orchestra etc. Subsequent tours were much paired down in comparison.
Check out I'm A Marionette/Carousel from the tour.
At 2:56 you can hear their voices different characteristics. They sound GREAT together!
You should try find more live songs from that tour, Australia 1977. They are the best, for example: Tiger, Dancing Queen, SOS, Money Money Money
It's not as high as the hole in your soul note, that you've also seen the live version of :p But a fantastic rock operatic note for sure sung well :D
@Tom McMurtry Agnetha hits a very high note at the end of "Tiger". 🐯
@@bachatamusica I think in hole in your soul it's the highest
@@emmanuelernandez7067 🔈🔉🔊😆👍OK....I will take your word for it ❗
UNDERRATED ABBA SONG. LOVE THE PING PONG BETWEEN BJØRN AND THE GIRLS. ABBA:THE MOVIE, IS A MUST IN EVERY MUSIC/MOVIE COLLECTION. GONNA WATCH IT THIS EVENING🤩🤩🤩🤩
Hot news! After the Grammy nomination (JAN."22),ABBA got nominated for BRIT Awards as best intnl group(FEBR."22)!
Another great song, never never lose the ABBA connection Dereck! Great also to seem them live...they didnt do music videos to all of their songs,a pity that, actually only to a minority of them but there are live videos out there, like this one...really like this ABBA track..keep it up Dereck..
I lived these moments. I have to express that they were/are the true definition of superstars. I find it hard to find anyone now who even comes close.
Almost 50 years! fantastic lyrics:
"On the world
that we're going
We all need
words of confort and compassion
Treat him well, he is your brother
You might need his help one day
We depend on one another
Love him, that's the only way"
Lyrics Timeless (specialy pandemic)
ABBA, with more artist, performing the chorus of "He is your brother" at the Concert for UNICEF in January 1979, when ABBA premier "Chiquitita" and donated royalties to UNICEF
These is the link of the chorus:
czcams.com/video/uE4Ca29FlaQ/video.html
you could see there:
Bee Gees, Rita Cooldrige, John Denver, Earth Wind & Fire, Andy Gibb,
Kris Kristofferson, Olivia Newton John, Rod Stewart, Donna Summer
Please react to "S.O.S." (Sydney, Australia, 1977).....ABBA consider it their "most memorable concert ever", because of the dedication of the fans, braving the heavy torrential rain. 🥰☔☂🌂🌧⛈⛈🌦🌦
Dedication that's true!!!🐬
I can’t take my eyes off of Agnetha here…..to see her with such confidence, joy and energy. So youthful as well. Putting it into context, this was before the second child, before the divorce, before the forced seclusion of worldwide popularity, before the fear of flying, before the tabloid fodder, before his children’s kidnapping threats, and before the blame of being the Yoko that was always holding ABBA back. For Agnetha this was when the world was still beautiful. It’s bittersweet because one can’t help but wonder what could have been. In the following years we see Agnetha retreating. Holding back. We begging to see caution, fear, and sometimes even paranoia. Her talent was and is immense…..and dare I say at times untapped?
One of their best songs. Underrated. Thanks Derek for reacting to this one. I like that they had hard guitars in the background.
Fridas voice is so polished. She was a really great live singer. Agnetha was good to, but felt her best in the studio. Truly gifted women anyways 👍
Ao vivo a voz da Frida era dominante na maioria das músicas, sua voz era muito afinada e potente nos shows ao vivo e só ver músicas como dancing queen, waterloo,Chiquititas entre outras
Chiquitita live at Wembley complete pleaseee!🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Dereck, please listen to Bang a Boomerang next!!!
Geoff Field is right."Happy Hawaii" is another fine choice! That great infamous cartoon video they made!!
Just ABBA forever at all times!
I JUST LOVE ABBBBBBBBBAAAAA AND THAT'S IT... I AM IN HAVEN... AND REMEMBER THAT MOST OF THE FAMES STARS WAS RECORDINGS THERE MUSICK IN STOCKOKOLM. IN POLAR STUDIO...
You may have to revisit Hole In Your Soul Live@Wembley again, that is a very high note the Agnetha hits during that performance.
It's easy to forget that this is a ABBA song. It's underrated. 🇸🇪❤️💯🥰
hello Dereck! how good that you chose this song (and live)
I'm one of that suggest these
"He is your brother" is ABBA's second single in 1972 and first #1 in Sweden, just yesterday 49 years!
In that year they were not yet convinced of being a group, that is why they were called:
"Björn & Benny, Agnetha & Anni Frid", with the girls more as their vocal support, because the ladies still continued their solo careers
In their first songs there are several like that, the guys sing one verse and the girls respond to him in the next, and they all share the chorus
Thus you can see the growth of the vocal harmony of Agnetha and Frida, until they finally assumed the leadership of most of the songs after the extraordinary worldwide hit with "Waterloo" at Eurovisión in 1974
"He is your brother" was one of ABBA's favorite numbers
(among their old songs)
This is from their memorable 1977 Australian tour
The images were recorded for the film 'ABBA The Movie'
"He is your brother" in live perfomance shows the girls dancing in the first chorus, joining the choruses and taking the lead in the second verse with a lot of power, ending with a spectacular chorus and Agnetha giving it her highest soprano note in the end (as in "Hole in your soul" Tour1979)
Specialy to see a greatest moment: Agnetha & Benny singing together so clear and happy face to face
I wish You a great weekend
and see you in next video
GOD bless you and stay safe
Best regards from Argentina
Not many people know their songs from the Ring Ring album
Gonna sing you my love song by ABBA with Frida shining brightly in their early years is surely next :p great to see a beautiful reaction to this performance!
The Wembley version of money money money is a great piece of show if you haven't seen it also.
They re so good
THEY ROCK!
I love ABBA and their live-acts even more, though they themselves weren't so keen on live-recordings (perfectionists).
Those Australia videos are taken from ABBA - The Movie and I think they must have filmed tons of material on this tour.
I don't give up hope, that one day, they cut together a complete concert film - at least I can dream, can't I?
I share in that dream.
This is one of your best reactions and reviews. You really had a total understanding of this song. Well done. I watched several times because you were spot on.
never thought that abba would be so well received live by you, for the time they did it perfectly to bring the sound from the LP to the stage, their tour manager at the time said that he was commissioned by B+B to do the best To get technology for the tour that was available at that time.
Ohhhhh how I love them so much 😍😍😍
Endlich wieder eine Challenge mit ABBA in
DERECK'S REACTION SHOW !!! 👍👍👍
Die letzte die ich sah, war
WATCH OUT, ebenso ein
Kracher !!! 👌👌👌
Aber das waren die ja eigentlich ALLE, für uns
ABBA - FAN'S, jedenfalls !!!
GREAT WORK GUYS ‼️
THANK'S DERECK FOR YOUR FANTASTIC
REACTION !!! 👏👏👏
I LOVE IT ‼️‼️‼️
MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎄🎅
AND THE HAPPY NEW
YEAR 🌟🎉🍾 ‼️‼️‼️
Im sorry Dereck, I think you completely missed the high note when reacting to "hole in your sole" also live from this concert. Much higher and powerful. Go and watch it again! 😉
Just from the Wembley concert rather than this one in Australia :p
@@Tom_McMurtry ah okay, your're right. But he did react to it anyway
@@Tom_McMurtry hello,why not both?
The subtitles on this one area really interesting. I think the auto transcriber has got very mixed up. Now, this is a banga-banga-banger indeed. Frida is an excellent live performer and you can feel the energy in this song. Frida takes lead vocal in the 'response' verse. Compare this to the live version of 'Why did it have to be me' where Bjorn and Frida take turns on lead vocal too.
I was a fighter always looking for trouble
And my life was so empty, there was nothing left to live for
But then it happened one night as I got into a fight
I could hear someone saying as though he was praying
Treat him well, he is your brother
You might need his help one day
We depend on one another
Love him that's the only way
On the road, on the road that we're going
We all need, we all need words of comfort and compassion
Treat him well, he is your brother
Love him that's the only way
I was a woman never thinking of others
And my life was so lonely, didn't care for anybody
But then I happened to meet a begging man in the street
As I turned down his praying I heard someone saying
Treat him well, he is your brother, brother
You might need his help one day, he's your brother
We depend on one another, brother
Love him that's the only way
On the road, on the road that we're going, that we're going
We all need, we all need words of comfort and compassion
Treat him well, he is your brother, brother
Love him that's the only way
Treat him well, he is your brother, brother
You might need his help one day, he's your brother
We depend on one another, brother
Love him, that's the only way
Treat him well, he is your brother, brother
You might need his help one day, he's your brother
We depend on one another, brother
Please, Agnetha is exactly as alive as Frida, you are very interested in Frida again ..... Frida has no leading voice here, they sing at the same time, the leader is not here, so what do you write?
Frida has no lead in this song as you know!
@@mikebatlinh6650 Just because Frida and Agnetha sing at the same time doesn't mean that one isn't leading. Listen carefully. Bjorn and Frida lead on this song in the verses. Benny and Agnetha are backing vocals in verses. Everyone sings in the chorus.
You should do the Australia 1977 Live version of Mamma Mia or Dancing Queen
Hello Dereck,oh what a surprise.I think i have seen abba the movie 10 or 20 times on TV.Unfortunately never in the cinema.I was too smal for that!My parents wouldn't have allowed me anyway!I love this song.He is your Brother is still for as fresh as if it could be heard on radio today. My Story is too long!I apologize!Thank you Dereck for your reaction!!!💝😄🐬
Hey Dereck
This is an amazing live performance so much power in the vocals and performance’s 🤩 But most important I love this song for the meaningful lyrics and what there portraying 😉 Treat him well he is your Brother very fitting for this time of year especially don’t you think ✌️
Thank you , I have never seen this live performance before- It's great........
This is part of ABBA the Movie, Why Did It Have To Be Me is another great track from this movie also this the only place to see Get on the Carousel
I love it too!!
Please react to Agneta Faltskogs solo single “It’s so nice to be rich” from 1983 (pop/func) only released in Sweden. It’s only on CZcams and sadly the original video isn’t there. There is an extended version to, not as good according to me. I wish the original single was on Spotify! A hidden gem! Also two great singles from 2004: “When you walk in the room” and “If I thought you’d ever change you mind”
As always, great reaction!!! Please react to "Disillusion" and compare it with the Swedish version "Mina ögon" from Agnetha's 1975 solo album!
I saw this concert in Australia and I remember them singing this song. To say they were phenomenal is an understatement. A wonderful concert and evening xxx
Awesome song live, so glad you reacted to this, as an Aussie it holds a special place in my heart as it was their Australian live concerts, love it ❤️
Love your reactions! I laugh every time you use the word BANANAS. It's such an old saying like you must have gotten from your grandparents. Never hear it anymore so it's so funny hearing from a young man. LOVE that you LOVE ABBA!
Love it ❤️
Virtuosos. Every single musician & voice on that stage. Bach woulda lost HIS bananas if dropped into a sell-out ABBA venue.🤘🇸🇪🍌
So glad you deep-dived into ABBA, Derek!! To say this band’s discography is a blooming gift in depth, range & now longevity is their truest beauty. So much to enjoy. PS-RIP to their incredible bassist.
One of my favourites. Listen to the lyrics! Hear the music!
The (one of the ?) studio version has more basses. A lot more... like a motor starting (??)
But this one is great to. Realy nice seeing them live.
As is the case with a lot of the songs included in ABBA - the Movie, a lot of these songs were heavily edited for the film. This version of 'He Is Your Brother' loses a whole extra minute of guitar solo from when it was actually performed live.
This is one of my favourite early ABBA songs. There's a great version of ABBA singing it in 1979 at the big Unicef concert in New York, accompanied by a who's who of 1970's pop royalty. You should check that one out! czcams.com/video/XAzouB6I9g0/video.html
Excellent (early) song, though People need love is stronger (though with Yodel).
Sung live in 77, and at the Unicef gala.
Few releases abroad in 1972: not even Playboy, though Sweden, NZ, SA. Don't remember any else then. Later on as a B side of Nina pretty ballerina.
Why would anyone get upset when you call them "the girls"I do it all the time... I usually say the guys, or the girls when I refer to them in groups just how it is with ABBA, at least For me it is 🤷🏻♀️
These are the looks the girls chose for the show that's happening in London next year They got to choose which hairstyle they wanted from which era and Frida chose this one and Agnetha chose one similar but a little more into in the 70s more like the Voulez-Vous era
@Lex yeah I wasn't fond of the "ponytail" ABBAtars...now the futuristic "Tron-like" outfits rock! The designer had said she was trying to give them a "then" look with a whole lot of "now" added into it...almost like...if ABBA were out now (the same age they were then) and were like they were then but out there now....what would they be wearing?? and I think she nailed it, especially the turquoise outfit Agnetha is wearing....love it!
ABBA is AMAZING
Love them love them love them love them 💜 Dereck's not bad too.
Hello, thx for your work 😁
Im Swiss, and I would love you to discover "Amsterdam" from Jacques Brel.
The Intensity is incredible
Their absolute best live performance
I like that this song is a vocal collaboration of the four members, where they even form harmonies each of them. A catchy song, I prefer the studio version that is faster and there's hardly any reverb, and there are also many more audio tracks that add an Agnetha lead vocal in the first chorus and some very cute saxophones.
The Ring Ring album was finally released in the U.S. during the CD era.
Just Super
Next "I am an A".
The video is not from 1972, but the song is. 🙂
React "Intermezzo n°1"
"DumDumDidle"audio version, next please.
Dereck! Can you react to an German pop duo: Fair Control, with " Symphony of love". One of the best tracks of the 80's. You gonna love it...oh yeah, the long version of course. Greetings from Belgium
Let Santa deliver me you as my prezzie for xmas :)
I never liked this song. However, It grew over the years and become one of my favorites!!!
ABBA never wrote a bad song.
Can you please please please react to Will You from Hazel O'Conner.(1980)
This song gives me shiffers and goosebumbs all over.
The saxephone in it talk from its own.
And then the instrumental at the end is 🤯
Make sure you take the original video from the movie.(breaking glass)(music album has the same name) because the instrumental solo at the end is not in many live video's.
SANTIANO FRENCH MUSIC !!
Björn, Benny och Svenska Flickor
Awesome 😎
Please react to another swedish artist. If you want to have a christmas feeling. Please react to swedish Chris Klafford, his voice is amazing. He has done the most beautiful cover of "Santa Claus is coming to town". czcams.com/video/AlnxRJ3eIRs/video.html He has also been on AGT with Imagine. His voice has rasp, high notes and is so smooth.
Hello PLUS du a reaction on the matsked singer🤗😊😱😄😆😂🤣😀☺🙂🤩😍🥰❤👍👋
sorry to insist
Pink floyd - summer 68 is the only thing you need to mesure what music is
The fake emotional grift lives on. I have your number:)
This song is too slow, sounds like country.
I think the studio version is a bit faster.
@@Lisa-M studio version is faster, they sped tapes up to brighten the sound it became a regular studio enhancement. There are always tweaks when groups play live…some of the song get sped up some are slowed down.
Your kinda of weird
