    @DrBrunoDzogovic Před 2 lety +4

    Some newer camera models offer variants of their products, like for example the Panasonic S1H. You get also a BS1H version, which is the "box" or cube format. The cubes are apparently better in terms of thermodynamics and can allow for longer usage periods unlike their fellow mirrorless form factors.

    Great review mate, thanks ! Also would you say it's a good investment to buy a camera with an EF mount in 2023 ? Of all mounts proposed with this camera, EF mount seems to have the widest range of lenses available AND affordable, but with the end of EF support I wonder if you'd buy it as of today

    • @joshuamartinstudios
      @joshuamartinstudios  Před 2 lety

      For sure. so you can set the file splitting from 5 minutes to 60 minutes. In post you'll have to use The z cam application to merge the files. It's an extra step but it's pretty simple. The longer the clip and fileS that have spilt will be the longest part of the process to stitch.
      Personally I set mine to 60mins. But I do have a critical interview to film I set it to 30mins just for safety

      Interchangeable mounts, much wider lens option. 422 HQ with the z cam app is like Braw. Overall you just have to know what kind of filmmaker you are and how either camera will benefit you.
      I'm currently a 6k pro user.

    Nice! I just picked up the F6. I’m learning it now. One question is that I have a lens that doesn’t have a focus ring but a switch for manual focus. I can’t for the life of me see where to manually focus in this camera with a lens without a focus ring. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    • @RyanPiski
      @RyanPiski Před 2 lety +1

      you cant use that lens with the camera, that type of lens is made for autofocus or most likely it will have a wire that will connect to a focus controller. Sorry if that didn't help as I'm not 100% sure what you're talking about

    • @blaylock1978
      @blaylock1978 Před 2 lety

      @@RyanPiski No I think you’re right. It was an older lens but it has a switch for manual focus. But I was confused because how do you manually focus a lens without a focus ring? Maybe I just haven’t seen a camera that has that feature.

    Cool camera But...what about the ugly stuff? can you talk about that too? How bad is the rolling shutter? How hard/easy is to work with ZRAW. can i just drag and drop it into resolve and start editing? Many cameras have an ugly side.

    • @markusseitle3740
      @markusseitle3740 Před 2 lety +4

      For me those things are not an issue. Rolling shutter I can't realy talk about in the s6 because i have a F6. but yes a global shutter like in the komodo is better.
      You can import ZRaw directly in Premiere with their free plugin but honestly i don't shoot Zraw because the ProRes HQ is so robust in grading. RAW is overrated in my opinion.
      Edit: Love your films on your channel. you are very talented.

    • @DastanZhumagulov
      @DastanZhumagulov Před 2 lety +2

      Z Cam E2S6 owner here! I work as a commercial DP so some of this might not be relevant to your use scenario.
      Here's what I can recall from the top of my head regarding the ugly stuff:
      1) HDMI lag is affected by the overlays you use in camera (not a problem with BM cameras). e.g. if you use preview lut or focus peaking.
      2) HDMI lag is perceptively higher than BMPCC4k, but I didn't do any scientific test, that's just my impression as a former bmpcc4k user
      3) can't playback all high fps shots in camera, if you're recording ProRes, so say you've just shot 120fps clip and want to see if the shot looks good in slowmo - not gonna be able to see it slowed down, only in real time. unless you're shooting h265 which is a kinda crappy codec for editing
      4) rolling shutter is very average, but again not scientifically tested by me and can't tell how it is compared to the competitors.
      5) pretty average quality 3.5mm audio in, I am not very happy with the quality of sound being recorded with my EW100 G3 Sennheiser lavs.
      6) neither ZRAW or ProRes Raw (achievable through Atomos Ninja external monitor-recorder) are supported by Davinci Resolve which is the most frequent tool of choice for color grading. You can transcode to CDNG, but that won't fit every workflow.
      7) Brand recognition: this is a tricky one and depends on how you do your business. Now and then I work on jobs where there's agency or production company or even director involved that is cautious to use an unknown camera brand for their campaigns. This sometimes makes it harder as an owner operator to convince them to use your camera on a job. Blackmagic cameras used to have the same problem, but have since gained quite a bit of recognition at least in my market.
      8) Post workflow: again a tricky one. In my experience most colorists are used to grading either Red Raw or Alexa LogC footage and I find that they struggle to get the most out of my ZCAM footage and it often ends up looking kind of whacky. They're also often unwilling to install additional plugins (z-log color or cinematch) and learn to use those just for one-two day grading job.
