I am from Japan have been living in Inverness for 2 years. Winter is always hard for me as I have to cycle everywhere morning and evening. But at the same time, I appreciate the beauty of highland nature. Glad to find your channel and I can appreciate more how I am lucky to be here.
Autumn is my favourite season, but the winter time is also welcomed. I like being inside, getting cosy with a woodwick candle (love the sound) and some tea/books or watching youtube 😁. Stay warm and safe Molly 🙏. P.S. loved the way Skye looked at you 😂
Thank you Molly, beautiful thoughts, I love winter too. The way Sky was looking at you when you were talking about your reading aww 💚. Wishing you a peaceful week 💕🐾
If you like fantasy at all, Spinning Silver by Naomi Novik is a very wintery story set in Russia, and it's a romance as well. It's definitely the kind of book that makes you feel very happy to be warm and cozy at home.
A fantastic vlog preparing for the winter Molly. The reasons you gave for loving winter are the reasons I hate winter and I look forward to the spring/summer but each to their own. Love 🥰 the vlog and love 💕 Molly. Rest helps you be more productive and it's why I am planning to have a rest later in the month.
Great vlog, Molly! I love winter. At the same time, I have a love|hate relationship with the holidays - not its roots; rather, the crowds and rampant consumerism. I do my best to make my home cozy (especially handmade quilts, candles when my cats do not want to act like little pyros, and seasonal cooking) and spend time in nature. Reading is important self-care, especially as I navigate the stress and busyness of end-of-year bookkeeping and patient file updates.
This is going to sound obvious but total game changer for me was to invest in some proper clothing to be outside. I purchased a good parka (for cold weather) in a sale, spent on decent socks. I already had good shoes but also got feet warmers if I know i’ll be out longer. I hate being cold but now with all this i have realised i enjoy being outside in the cold as long as i am warm.
My spring bulbs went in late this year, just at the end of November. Glasgow had snow yesterday and it is particularly cold today but it looks crisp and clean outside ❤
Thank you for this. Ive been sorting out my winter reading and have just taken The Winter Ghosts off my shelf to read. What a coincidence. My intention for this month is to begin simplifying my life. Ive been unsubscribing from emails and youtube channels. I was becoming overwhelmed with them all! Im beginning to feel better already. I love your channel. Its so relaxing. 😊
Spiders webs have always fascinated me, beauty at its best. I also like the winter months, and always take a holiday, January next year, also to somewhere cold lol. Molly, you can NEVER have enough books never, keep up your stash and enjoy 📗📘📙📔📒
I spy The Secret History! I read it for the first time last Christmas and it was the perfect companion for sitting by the fire and getting fully engrossed in the plot, I can’t imagine reading it at any other time ♥️
Molly, I've commented before that I'm a sun person, and grey overcast skies affect my mood in a negative way. But this winter I plan to follow your advice and get outside more and into nature.
Always enjoy your book recommendations some of which I've added to my list. I'm anxiously awaiting the online reopening of our Toronto libraries after a hacking incident over a month ago. It made me realize how much my life revolves around ordering books online from the library.
We’ve had our first snow of the winter this weekend. I love the changes that the seasons bring and earlier today I popped in a charity shop and picked up a number of books so I’m ready to snuggle down and read whenever I get the chance. Thank you!
It's always nice to see your videos. The problem though is that your book suggestions are so good I always end up with fingers itchy to buy one more book😂. Enjoy the winter season and thanks for sharing.
How do you prepare your food in winter time? Can you go out to the grocery store? Do you storage for winter time? I am so curious. Think your courageous too. I already get lost in a one way street 😅
You should really let a big book reseller sponsor you!! Like WOB for example. The bookseller of Inverness is either sold out or quite expensive. The Jim Crumley books which you recommended months ago (I bought winter for about 10€) is now at 128€!!! That’s crazy!!!
I noticed a Matt Haig in one of your baskets and can recommend all of his books. You may like The Radleys, one of his earlier ones. Weird & funny and a little dark. I’m going to borrow your idea of gathering all my TBR books in one place to make a selection as I end up wandering round the house looking vaguely at all the books!
Hi Molly, what lipstick are you wearing at the beginning of your video when you’re chatting to us in your kitchen? I absolutely love the shade. It really suits you too xxx
Thank you! Its the shade Baby and one of Merit's signature lipsticks. I get all my make up from them as their products are beautiful as well as vegan & cruelty free :) www.meritbeauty.com/products/signature-lip
Not judging at all-in fact, I’m in the same-ish boat as you. Instead of berating myself, I chose the books I’m probably not likely to read and I’m selling them back to the book store and purchasing a fewer amount for the coming winter.
Hi Molly, I noticed you have a cloth bread bag. Do you freeze bread in it or just keep bread in it at room temperature? It's really cute. What is it made from? I liked your blog as always. It was nice to see some of your outdoor nature today. The fall trees are so pretty! Have a good week. 😊Sue
Yes I got it recently from a eco shop on Amazon and love it! I just keep my bread at room temperature and find the bags work well and don't take up the same space as a bread bin. Here's the link if your interested :) amzn.to/419b8ii
Lovely video Molly, what a great idea to have a word for the month! I’ve decided to do the same and because I’m always fretting that I should do more, mine is going to be Enough, so I stop when I feel I’ve done enough etc. I’ve also ordered a couple of books from your list! Loving your videos, thanks for sharing, take care xx
I was so looking forward to your weekly video after a busy week. Your soothing voice made me drift off!! So today, I have started the day with a coffee and thoroughly enjoyed it as always. Thank you. ❤
I downloaded your Notion planners for food and am really happy with my purchase. I particularly like that I can add another line in the plan so can plan my vegetarian food and my family's different meal as well. It is really well planned and great for individuals, couples and families. Thank you!
Hi Molly, thank you for another lovely video 😊 I've just finished "Pine" by Francine Toon, which I grabbed from the library because it's set in the Highlands around this time of year. Definitely very atmospheric, and a bit spooky and mysterious. Would recommend for some darker, winter reading. All the best from Edinburgh 😊
We are going into summer her now in Australia but its nice to see all the cozy Winter Vlogs. Definately recommend The Last Library by Freya Sampson and The Story Keeper by Anna Mazzola two of my recent reads that were really good :) :)
Hi Molly great recommendations for books l just read The Nanny by Gilly Macmillan, not a bad book if you like to be guessing until the end which l dont mind😮 that book, That book how to kill your family sounds interesting might look into it, lts summer here so l mostly read at night as the heat is so annoying, Not my favourite season,Enjoy your week😊❤❤
Love your videos! Thank you for creating! One question, since I am struggling with this- what do you do with the books after reading them? Not the ones from the library, but the ones which you buy? I am having a hard time giving them away.
Thank you! I get most of my books from my local charity shops, so I tend to re-donate them or give them to a friend if I don't think I'll read it again. I hang onto a few that are really special but agree it can be hard to let them go! :)

The older I get the more I appreciate every season. I make a concious effort not to wish away any season even if the following one is my favourite
A brilliant mindset :)
Oh my gosh skye loves you so much the way he actually looks at you when you’re sitting on the couch talking about your books is precious.
I am from Japan have been living in Inverness for 2 years. Winter is always hard for me as I have to cycle everywhere morning and evening. But at the same time, I appreciate the beauty of highland nature. Glad to find your channel and I can appreciate more how I am lucky to be here.
Wintering by Katherine May
Is beautiful
Especially in audio. I love Winter b/c I get to rest w/out gardener’s guilt. 😊
I read it recently and completely agree!
Autumn is my favourite season, but the winter time is also welcomed. I like being inside, getting cosy with a woodwick candle (love the sound) and some tea/books or watching youtube 😁. Stay warm and safe Molly 🙏. P.S. loved the way Skye looked at you 😂
Haha she is always the star of the show! :)
Skye has always been the sweetest and cutest 😊😊
Thank you Molly, beautiful thoughts, I love winter too. The way Sky was looking at you when you were talking about your reading aww 💚. Wishing you a peaceful week 💕🐾

Oh sounds lovely thank you! :)
Loved this vlog!🫶🏻
Skye looking at you is precious!
Added some of these books to my winter reading list! Always on the hunt for something new. Thanks for sharing :)
Aw I'm glad! :)

Yes, do stay safe and warm.
Your videos are so beautiful Molly. So calm and relaxing. You make me happy xx🩷
Aw thank you lovely :)

Thank you! I feel the same. My vlog this week is all about how I deal with the festive season, so hopefully you may find that interesting :)
Wonderful reading suggestions - I am trying to get outside in spite of the cold 🥶
Its pretty nippy! Mine and Skye's hair froze a bit today! But it was lovely :)
My spring bulbs went in late this year, just at the end of November. Glasgow had snow yesterday and it is particularly cold today but it looks crisp and clean outside ❤

That is a coincidence! You're simplifying plans sound fantastic :)

Haha thank you for the encouragement! :)
I spy The Secret History! I read it for the first time last Christmas and it was the perfect companion for sitting by the fire and getting fully engrossed in the plot, I can’t imagine reading it at any other time ♥️
I read it earlier in the autumn and it was sublime :)
I would love to see your little necklace that you are wearing.
Molly, I've commented before that I'm a sun person, and grey overcast skies affect my mood in a negative way. But this winter I plan to follow your advice and get outside more and into nature.
I'm so glad! I hope you enjoy it :)
Thank you, Molly for this post. I will be ordering some of those books for gifts and just for myself. They look fantastic!
Aw I hope you enjoy! :)
Going to be cold in Scotland be safe
Always enjoy your book recommendations some of which I've added to my list. I'm anxiously awaiting the online reopening of our Toronto libraries after a hacking incident over a month ago. It made me realize how much my life revolves around ordering books online from the library.
Aw bless, I hope it opens soon! :)
Oh no! Hamburgs library had issues too but I don’t know if it was due to hacking. Who the bleep would hack a library anyway??😂
We’ve had our first snow of the winter this weekend. I love the changes that the seasons bring and earlier today I popped in a charity shop and picked up a number of books so I’m ready to snuggle down and read whenever I get the chance. Thank you!
Pretty snowy here too! Sounds great :)
It's always nice to see your videos. The problem though is that your book suggestions are so good I always end up with fingers itchy to buy one more book😂. Enjoy the winter season and thanks for sharing.
Haha sorry about that! You too :)
Love your simplified life.
Ooh look forward to your next vlogs on Xmas! I would love some insights and tips on a sustainable Xmas. Great book tips too as always, thanks! ❤
Its coming soon! :)
Wintering by Katherine May is excellent. It's a great read if your focus is on rest.
I read it a few weeks ago and loved it :)
How do you prepare your food in winter time? Can you go out to the grocery store? Do you storage for winter time? I am so curious. Think your courageous too. I already get lost in a one way street 😅
Definitely recommend ‘Wintering’ by Katherine May.
I seems to be a popular one! I agree that its wonderful :)

Yes he's great! I've read the Midnight Library (which is my fave) and recently finished How to stop time. Would love to read more of his work :)
I recently read A December To Remember by Jenny Bayliss. I loved the story and setting ❤️🌲
Oh thank you!

I'm glad you enjoyed! And a perfect word choice :)
I would cover the corrugated shed side infrastructure of you with a rambling plant or the fake ivy trellis

I managed to find that for 50p in a charity shop the other day and am super excited to read it! :)

Oh I loved her book The Glass House. Will look this one up thank you! :)
@@hippyhighlandliving Yeah I like the glass house too
It’s covered with snow for a week or so now
Amazing to live in a tiny home with no ornaments so easy not to spend as no space. You are so tidy and clean and sweet. How do you keep warm?
Love your videos! Thank you for creating!

Do you ever not plan or reflect or organise? Just wondering if you schedule ‘empty’ time too?
As a vegan how do you ensure you get enough Vitamin D in winter?
Yes I take a supplement through the winter :)
