As a man who has lived his full 64 years in Leeds I cannot help to be saddened by the cesspit many parts of this once lovely city has become. The Government should be ashamed and it is not just Leeds.
A lot of the old fashioned charming character has been swept away in the name of "progress". I can only dream of what it could have been like to ride a tram through Leeds.
Absolutely David, all this talk of the new London of the north cobblers?! it's all self delusional 'evening post' Rubbish and the who the hell wants Leeds to be like London anyway?! 49 years I've been here & it's the worst I've ever known it and a journey (IF YOU CAN STOMACH IT) through places like East end park, Harehills, Chapeltown, Burmantofts, Lincoln Green, cross green. Gipton & Seacroft will confirm that all the new leeds finery is just lathered on the surface to suit the needs of the students and the exiled southerners to whom this city appears to want to cater for. horrible city now.
@@greengreen4251 To be fair, aesthetically, chapeltown doesn't look too bad, a lot of tree's, big Victorian Villas, wide streets & nicely kept terraced houses- some miserable distant fuckers there though? not the friendliest place and I've experienced some very rude black people there, especially the older lot
Than k you 'Loiner'. As a Loiner living in Windsor thank you for the film. It was before I was born but as I remember from my childhood. Why did the idiots get rid of the eco friendly trams. Geoff. W.
can any tell me when buildings in Leeds took on a darker shade(became filthy) they surely weren't built that way ..was it pollution ..what a bonus to have them clean..I would offer half off cost to any householder who had them cleaned, especially in headingly and roundhay
I watched Winston Churchill make a speech from the steps in front of the Leeds Civic Hall as a child during the 1945 General Election , I can't say I was impressed with him, to me he was just a little old man in a dark overcoat and a homburg hat. I have lived in Headingly all my life except for my military service, and I don't think that Leeds has ever been a better city than it is today.
Thank you for this. All those (long gone) people scurrying about, any one of them could be Grandma or Grandad!
Fantastic great music too. Thanks for posting

But...where is Yates and the people in track suits and the vomit in the street? People are way to well behaved here. This can't be Leeds. ;)
lovely video .....And now they should show us a video of all the third world human wreckage that is engulfing the inner city suburbs,
Amen to that.
