@Scott Bruce Because they're American. Why don't you go back to Europe? Serious question. Pretty sure, every other race just tolerates you given how you've treated the Japanese and Vietnamese (Asians), how you've treated the Native Americans, how you've treated Muslims, how you've treated Blacks, how you've treated Hispanics and dehumanized them and how you think "Jews can't replace y'all" (chanted by the alt-right white supremacists in Charleston). Maybe just leave? Because this country will continue to bring in immigrants and will only get more multi-cultural. 🤷‍♂️

Lets face it: Universities and colleges in the U.S. have lost their way, they are compromised at so many levels. We need to stop telling our children that they must go to college, or that college is the way to a better life. If we stop enrolling, only then is meaningful change likely to occur. Universities have become businesses, and it's time for the customers to go elsewhere, perhaps online, to further their lifelong education.

Also, our school systems nationwide is a disgrace when it comes to teaching history. I live in New York City (Just as racist as the South, but on a different level), our hideous gov. cuomo during the covid19 pandemic had/has police officers guarding columbus statue at columbus circle. We all know about christopher columbus, New York City has the largest parade in the entire world on columbus day in october. Last, but not least, cuomo stated on news MSNBC & CNN and anyone else who was covering him during the pandemic that the statue (christopher columbus), will not be removed, it is part of his heritage (italian).

I agree, Howard University punches above its weight. The first doctor I've seen ever who REALLY knew what to do with this complex patient and understood was one who was trained by Howard. They aren't taught that all people are medically white males, and they're taught to think out of the box when needed. Beyond that, Nikole Hannah-Jones earned a place in a university that has a commitment to what she does, and she shouldn't have to fight to prove that. Additionally, now that she's fought the establishment for her place, she had to know she'd be treated by the Chancellor and Provost as a second-class citizen. If you have to fight THAT hard to get your employer to do the right thing, they're not worth working for.

    • @sarablackwolfdancer9359

Someone left a comment in reply to my mentioning the medical education community teaching that everyone is just like white males, and for some reason I can't see it on here, but I'm going to address it anyway. Up until fairly recently, essentially all medical schools in the US were only using the white male as a model for anatomy (and just tacked what they felt was accurate female exceptions in the most obvious places). Whether they chose to use only white males as models in terms of not having any other options or awareness, or whether that was deliberately exclusive, I couldn't tell you. It's only been very recently that medical researchers have really gotten into researching women in their entirety and discovered there are a lot of non-obvious anatomical and physiological differences, and started to research differences between ethnic groups. If this fellow who said I was telling a lie about medical schools teaching that everyone are medically just like white males is reading this, open a browser, and look it up. Most are STILL doing that because the research hasn't been fully indoctrinated into med school yet. It'll probably take another decade or two before insurance companies "get it".

Such a dumb move by UNC. This is a major reputational blemish for them. Are there people from any other part of the country other than the grimy South who would even think of UNC if they weren’t offered big scholarship incentives? Honestly Jones’ mistake in this process was even trying to teach there in the first place, she can do way better. It may be her alma mater but life is about moving up, not going back where you started. If you’re white and go to UNC, how will you explain to employers you went to Racists-R-Us?
