I really want to go to Japan but I have terrible social anxiety and really hate being stared at. So here's the question: I have red hair as well, how often and how intensely are you stared at if at all?
I’m American and I been living in Japan for 4 years now and sometimes you get glanced at but honestly mostly every one can care less this country is so introverted even the restaurants are introverted and i been all around Japan. It is somewhat crowded in places like Kyoto and Tokyo but it’s worth it and there’s empty places here oh and im blonde so I stand out a bit but no one looks at me actually they avoid eye contact and mind there own unless your loud. Hope this helped
American and have been living here for a little over a year and I can't wait to get out... It's a beautiful country visually but society here is beyond fucked and finding a genuine person here is like finding a needle in a hay stack

Glad you're enjoying teaching in Japan. I taught in Japan for 3 years back in 2006. Ended up changing careers and lived in Osaka for a decade before moving back during Covid. Hope you enjoy your vacation in one of the best cities I've ever lived in.
This sounds so nice 🥹 I wouldn’t learn a new language for it but in another universe this sounds so sweet. Hopefully one day as a teacher I can make kids happy too
This is so cute TT I’m sorry if this may sound offensive but I am genuinely curious. How much Japanese do you understand to be able to teach there? Like are you completely fluent in both writing and speaking?
As an English learner, I can’t imagine learning straight from a native speaker who doesn’t understand what I say, and there’s no guarantee I’d understand everything they say. They wouldn’t be able to explain it in a way that I understand. How am I supposed to ask questions or voice out my complication in learning English. Imagine barely getting the hang of the language, and now you need to form complex sentences to ask questions or talk about something that confuses you? I don’t think this works well for English learners who don’t speak English at all in their daily lives (only in English oral exams or presentations).
You aren't the primary teacher you supplement the Japanese teacher who is actually in charge. @@meow7629 Anyway immersion in language learning is actually a positive thing and there is communication beyond just verbal, how do you think you learned English to begin with?
