- Baltimore's leaders are calling for the owner and manager of the cargo ship that took down the Francis Scott Key Bridge to be held fully liable for the collapse.
I think this type of important marine traffic area tugs must be available always. Port regulations are to be modified for all critical areas to take tugs
It's going to cost this company Eight hundred million dollars when all is said and done.
As they should. If the ship were defective it shouldn’t have sailed.
No excuse for this to happen..NEVER..NEVER.
What would have cost them around fifty million dollars for upkeep and repairs, now will cost Eight hundred million dollars. In fines and damages

They reacted fast because they knew it was coming and were preparing for it since the accident. They essentially had 4 weeks to prepare. That "quickness" to respond doesn't mean anything compared to the available evidence, which indicates negligence.
Negligence resulting in human death that's manslaughter
At this time evidence points to a problem with the ships generators not sharing load in a stable manner This can be rooted in operating error, poor design, or a component failure. It is a complex subject and hopefully the NTSB will investigate it thoroughly Over the years ships generators have moved from either /or to multiple parallel units. Both real and reactive loads must be shared in a stable manner to avoid tripouts. I am a retired Westinghouse Electrical Engineer with a lot of ship board work under my belt.
Baltimore's leaders should be sued for negligence over many years for the devastation of the city. How many people have been murdered under their watch? How many have died of drug overdoses? How many kids get to adulthood without even elementary standard education? They are the last people who should be pointing fingers when it comes to negligence.
.....and why did the "Maryland Bay Pilots Association" accept the assignment of a non seaworthy vessel? Coast Guard is in this too! 😢

City of Baltimore should shoulder some blame for not having proper pier protection. Not like this sort of thing hasn't happened before.
Very Very true!! I think it is important to look at this insident from both sides.
So what if Baltimore gets judgments against the Dali's owner and operator in a US court of law? They will never be able to collect it. Appeals will follow, and ultimately probably bankruptcy.
Incorrect. They will collect at minimum any insurance payouts from the ships insurers. What they won't collect is likely the full amount of the judgement, which if negligence is proven would be in the Billions which is likely beyond the worth of the company. Bankruptcy could eliminate some of that judgement, but not all of it.

The ultimate negligence is on the State of Maryland and its authorities responsible for the bridge and waterways. The failure to provide adequate protection of the bridge piers is the reason the FSK Bridge is down and people were killed.
