Something else I'd add that's often overlooked- cord placement. The Kenmore comes out closer to the top vs coming out of the bottom on the Shark. It gives a ~little~ more usuable cord and also easier to avoid vacuuming up!

Received the Navigator as a Christmas gift and will be returning it! Buttons poorly placed, I felt the weight displacement when it rotated caused it to want to fall over, and didn't like the latches on the side as you mentioned. Also, dog hair tended to bunch up in the dust bin/collector and had to be cleaned out by hand.
