  • Hello friends. I share with you my thoughts about the recent release from Jinhao, the 9016. this pen has a #6 stainless steel nib and uses similar, but not identical, convertor to the famous 9019. the writing sample that is provided at the end reflects my initial thoughts. I noted that after one episode of hard starting and skipping, the nib has performed very nicely.
    Let me know if any questions arise. thank you for watching.

    Hi Shak, I hope you're having a great week. As usual, this video provided a comprehensive comparison with many interesting perspectives - thanks for sharing! I'm particularly pleased with my 9016 EF nib; it appears to be a significant improvement from my older, but very similar, X159 nibs that are currently collecting dust somewhere. Surprisingly, this 9016 EF nib seems better, out of the box, than my larger #8 EF nib on my 9019.
    While there may be lot-to-lot variations on mine they have substantially enhanced the wetness and smoothness of this "new" #6 nib. Additionally, it seems a bit crisper and softer, as demonstrated in your writing session. It's clear that they are consistently working on improvements, and I'm always curious to see what they release next.

      Thank you, Dimitri. Some of these nibs are amazing, as I showed on my follow-up post [medium]. It is really awesome to have such a cheap option to penable friends.

    The one thing that I always want to know that nobody ever covers in their reviews is how well does the pen avoid dry out. Cap it and store it for a week and then see if it starts up with no issues. Just a thought.

      Great point. I think I mentioned that the 9019 did dry and hard start, and I expected this to do the same. And , that's true. That is a big problem.

    it's amazing! I recently received my 9016 from Aliexpress and refilled it with ink very similar in color to your ink in this video. But then, for the sake of experimentation, I mixed green and blue ink and got a wonderful, rich turquoise! =)

      @andreibarmalei7513 Thanks. MD in my name is for Doctor of Medicine. I'm thinking to do some medical q&a as handwritten amors in the future. I am Canadian.

    The large 9019 is not a problem. There are plenty of little pens for small people. I also disagree with the vanishing point being far superior. It is only superior if flying on a plane. It holds a tiny bit of ink. I cannot say much positive about its nib either. For me the 9019 is more comfortable than my MB 149 also.

      True. There are pocket pens and small pens like the "standard" Sailors or Jinhao 82s. It's nice to have 9019 in a smaller package.

    Hi there, how do you like your white Jinhao 9016 both in looks and feel? Does the white plastic look cheap in any way? I’m torn between the clear and the white variant.

    • @Shak-MD
      @Shak-MD  Před 5 měsíci +1

      Hi. I love how it writes. As I suspected, it does hard start and dry out if left unused for days. The white plastic looks trashy cheap. I would not recommend it. Black feels equally cheap. Clear one and the umber colkr demonstrators look least cheap. They all feels great in hand in terms of writing comfort.

    im not bothered by the threads because i spin the barrel like a top to open it in one quick motion.

      I should try that. Especially at the end of the barrel.
