Disagree with the last step. Diffidently do not angle the bat towards the ball. You cut through the ball. MAYBE you’ll hit it hard once or twice, but angling will make you roll over more than hit for power.

My family had a softball team that was all family. ( snatchko brother’s softball) Didn’t get on the team unless you’re name was “snatchko” they were stone cold badasses! Especially Dave and Rodger Snatchko. Everyone always tells me stories about Dave putting softballs out of 3 rivers stadium one after the other.

im having a tendency right now to get under the ball and pop it up. any quick tips to get this stopped. i was wayyyyyyyy better 13 years ago at church league. now that Im older, i havent been able to find my swing that I had.
Idk why but he just seems like the guy who shows up to the field every league night looking for a team who is short a player.. plays short stop and pitcher.

The problem with an upward swing is that it may harm your swing, cause far too many pop up outs and definitely hurt your batting average if you’re in a limited Home Run league or just can’t hit it over the fence consistently.
I prefer the old Ray DeMarini tutorial vid with the level power swing.
Besides, the few Home Runs I’ve hit were from hitting the lower half of the ball, causing that ‘Top Spin Heat’, where you can see the ball jerking upwards in flight.

If you’re small this won’t cut it you’ll probably be better off with your natural swing these tips don’t help much but the basics of how to swing a bat. If you’re small you have to learn how to cut the ball. If you want to hit home runs. Mainly small in weight, height doesn’t make a huge difference.

This is a good humor video I guess but definitely check out other channels if you really want to learn how to improve your hitting. Following these tips are going to make you pop out a lot and that's pretty much the worst thing you can do in slow pitch. It almost feels like a joke/meme but the CZcams algorithm is sending players looking to improve here unfortunately.

I can't predict whether you can or will, but I've seen guys your size hit it way farther than I could have ever imagined.

And once again another big guy steps up! Duh … home run power!Some people never mention the fact that the little guys are born with fast twitch muscle fibers and may work out specifically. I’ve been playing for years. When I was in my mid twenty’s I worked out and was 170lbs. Still difficult then to hit home runs. Did I hit some yes. But not many. Today I’m 55 and have less than warning track power. 250’. No one ever mentions fast twitch muscle fibers ever in a softball swing! Never!
Other than getting your back hip through, these tips are horrible. If you swing up at the ball and hit it square or top spin, it won’t go very far. If you can’t put back spin on the ball it’ll never go as far. This isn’t baseball where you match the plane of the pitch and can still smash a ball far that comes off the bat knuckling. Why do you think pitchers in baseball throw fastballs with back spin and it looks like the ball doesn’t have any sink if thrown over the top? Why do you think a curve ball sinks and knuckle balls drop? If you shoot a ball through a two wheel juggs pitching machine and set it on a homerun angle as a knuckle ball or curve ball, it’ll drop in the outfield (depending on how fast you set it). If you set it to shoot out at the same speed but with back spin it’ll carry waaaaay further. Every Homer hit has back spin unless you absolutely smash it. Nobody has ever miss hit a ball that had top spin or no spin over the fence unless playing on a tiny field. Softballs fly different than baseballs. You have to hit it with back spin if you want to hit long bombs.

That's a bummer. I agree, it changes the game significantly and takes away a lot of the fun and strategy.
There are some leagues where you can't hit home runs. It's about ball placement.
Yes the speed of the ball of the super bats ,has made a great competitive sport just to risky for alot of players. They have lives to live away from the game...

Gotta love all these cats hitting these shaved bats now a days....the days of the 150 200 swings 2 3 X a week BP and actually learning to hit....are gone..now guys weighing 155 with a bat on roids 325 is not setting the bar high...

Some of those "women" can pitch a softball over 70mph. I doubt YOU can even hit it.
