Zhou Shen's voice is naturally crystal clear. With his great effort and skills, he is always a great story teller in his songs. Here he even combines some more essential like Chinese traditional drama skills and poems recite. The whole production & singing are phenomenal! 💖 💖 💖

You are right that he was interviewed years ago that he admitted that his voice didn't change during puberty. It became a nightmare to him as he was then bullied and teased which made him refuse to sing anymore for the following few years. He is short, only about 1.6 m. To him, he told the MC, that other male singers in a music program look like huge mountains to him. He always have to raise his head among the male singers. He always express his wish to grow taller which doesn't really seem to be possible. Anyway, he has overcome this bitter reality and bloom as brightly and beautifully with these pricks like a rose. He cried immediately after he had sung the song "Rose Boy" with another male rapper called GAI which both of them sang out the heartbreaking moments that they were bullied. Some of the audience also cried during their performance, noting that the two singers were singing from their experiences.
That's specifit voice he sang in , its a type of the Chinese tradition opera, and the lyrics are from a very ancient poetry 《定风波》（Calming the Waves）, like a thousand years ago.
Whenever I see zhou shen it remind me of 'chuang 2021' where he was a judge.

I like his voice very much and his voice is very warm and healing. His treble is beautiful and not oppressive. He covered Pink's "Just like fire" is excellent. He sang "Thief" on a singing show and it was cool to tear at the end of the treble part at the end.

He's a countertenor. In the classical music, a countertenor (or contre-ténor) is the type of male voice using mainly his falsetto voice (or head voice), and whose range can correspond to that of a soprano (we then speak of soprano), to that of an alto (violist) or to that of a contralto (contraltist)
If you want to listen to his talking with his natural voice, you can try to search him singing Paradise island, after he finish singing he talked a bit to the audience
@ 6:16 I know that is Beijing Opera style & he does this perfecto. I also heard when he was younger he became sick & was in the hospital. I don't know what his diagnosis was, but I am wondering if this could have affected his growth in some way. No matter, because what he thought was a curse has turned into the greatest blessing- to have a voice like this. I heard he was bullied when he was younger- he sang on something like CZcams in China. He did songs on there & didn't show his face- people loved him until he turned the camera around & let them see who was actually singing. They say it was brutal on him & created depression for him.
Now they cannot get enough of him over there.
He likes to switch in different tones all the time, he likes to sing Western opera & Chinese ancient operas on his songs. He can sing anything, his voice is very natural. He is not look very handsome, but he is a very cute & charming guy. He talks like a little boy voices, he can fool everybody his voices like a girl all the time anywhere.

This is my favorite of ShenShen songs. I love the opera section the most. Even if you can’t understand what he is singing, you understand that there’s a story happening; a sad story but one full of purpose and depth.
Thanks for liking and appreciating Zhou Shen! A slightly sad trivia is that in one of his older interviews, he shared that from middle/high school onwards, he consciously made his speaking voice lower in tone so as to not stand out as much amongst peers. And this became a subconscious habit of his till he "has kind of forgotten what his natural speaking pitch is". Fortunately, over the years, he has been trying to accept his voice and when you compare his present day speaking voice to those from his early days of debut, you can really hear a difference in that his pitch is slightly higher now compared to before!
Dimash is full of skills while Zhou Shen is full of emotional. He has the ability to match with any other music ie. solely piano, band or orchestra

He said in an interview or perhaps it was when he first stepped out in front of judges at a particular vocal comp, that he is self trained!!! He taught himself how to sing! First time hearing this song....great!!!
To clarify that in Super Vocal 2019, after he sang Time to say goodbye using the skills of countertenor, he explained that he was not trained in countertenor. But in fact he was cultured in tenor in Lviv National Musical Academy.

I know this video is a month old, but if you’re curious about how low his voice can go, you may get an example in his performance of “Dalabengba”! He sang in a lot of different voices there, including lower than he usually goes. 😆
But also when he speaks he definitely doesn’t _sound_ feminine, as compared to when he sings ahaha. Zhou Shen’s voice is just truly a beautiful instrument. 🥺
This does also make me curious if you’ve ever reacted/listened to Hua Chenyu before! He’s a similarly acclaimed Chinese singer with a really incredible voice range, and it’s also always cool hearing people’s thoughts on his singing!

I discovered Dimash before
Zhoushen. I was pretty amazed
by his outstanding voice singing
“SOS” and other songs. Slowly
personally I disliked his performances as not natural over reacted and worse when
he tried to show off his high pitch
voice in “Opera 2” and
“My Heart Will Go On”.
I stopped watching him though
he is very talented and gifted.
Then I discovered Zhoushen who
amazed me by his first public performance in the “China Voice”.
He must be a Bel Canto operatic
singer. I did research on him and listened to him singing Puccini
Bellini opera arias Brahms lieder.
But all this true opera tenor amazing spectacular voice was not
shown on China stage. Except his countertenor voice and coloratura singing style.
Then later I found he is gifted with an interchangeable voices including cartoon, children,
AI, Seri voices etc etc.
Too Shocking and Blown Away!
Personally I prefer Zhoushen
for one very important reason
that he truly exhibits the very
Classic Art Of Singing by singing
very naturally not over reacting
nor shouting yelling or showing off but convey the the soulful convicting messages of the lyrics
of the songs to heal or encourage
his audiences.

Zhou Shen is no way near Dimash or Pavarotti or Dmitri Hvorostovsky , he is just entertainer who can sing
I love Dimash, and love watching his live shows - they are amazing! However, I can only listen to a few of his songs in the car. With Zhou Shen - I can listen (and watch) him all day long. He has the greatest listening voice I have ever heard in my life (I'm 63) - I feel so, so blessed and happy that I found him (only few months back now), just like I found Dimash about 4 years back. This was from a reactor doing Dimash reaction and he recommended Zhou Shen!

Zhou Shen's voice to me sounds as soft as a cloud. It is very beautiful! His songs are beautiful also but I find that for me personally many of them sound quite similar so I can only listen to two or three at a time. I think his voice must be one of the most beautiful voices in the world and I'm very glad that he didn't let the bullies scare him away from becoming a singer. I don't think it's wrong to say he can sound like a female. Other great male singers can also sound like females. Perhaps because he was teased as a teenager it's kinder to him to say that he can sing beautifully in the soprano range?

Zhou Shen is using a singing technique "full mixed voice" similar to J J LIn. With the correct skillful usage of vocal cord, hardly need much effort in his natural high notes. Just imagine such a small-size chap can sing with so much power.
Zhou Shen has too much vocal skills in his pockets that I suppose you have, so far, only witness about 40% of what he is capable of.

Thanks so much for reacting to Charlie. Love your reaction. Charlie can control his voice so effortlessly, probably he studied Bel Canto. Lots techniques Charlie use are base on western opera. Chinese opera are great but most mind blowing ones are from western opera. I only don’t like western opera’s park and barked style. They have good expression, only moving like a mechanical woodman. 😐
It’s a pity Charlie don’t have a hard voice or he would able to go farther scale. Like he would able to sing the Tokyo unravel better. Even so, it would be interesting if he can finally growl out the the ‘unravel world’ like TK. 😂
Compare to earlier years, Charlie’s voice have deepen a lot. As a late bloomer like Charlie, he’s doing great. 😘

Год он проучился там, а потом перешел в музыкальную академию г Львова...И когда вернулся в Китай, то был уже готовым певцом... Он сразу стал мега звездой, тем более, что в Китае особо ценятся именно такие высокие легкие голоса... Это их культура...Ну а потом и мы узнали и оценили его..!

Charlie is certainly good. There is no doubt about that, and his voice has a special quality. However, as someone used to Dimash´s powerful voice, Charlie´s voice often sounds too girlish to my ears, which also means "child-like". Dimash´s soprano voice is that of an adult, and his higher soprano notes (above Bb5) do no longer sound like those of a man but cannot be distinguished from a(n) (adult) female soprano voice. In any case I would love to hear them sing together in a duet.

ZS was talking in a Beijing Opera voice in the initial stanza in the song, and later singing in BJ Opera style. That’s not his normal speaking voice.
