      Gd evening buckin Billy ray I just wanted to let you in on a little secret here okay you know you can take an ol cereal box and a hole punch like they use in schools and make a new gasket for them ol saws and itll actually work too and as far as sharpening them saws I can take a file and out sharpen any of those electric sharpeners too the teeth will cut you after I get done a sharpening them that's how sharp they will be afterwards here I personally don't like them things simply because theyll take the temper out of a chain cause itll make it get to hot when your sharpening them on it there okay have a great day and bs and bc out there too now I'll ttyl thanks for the vedio

    I love the trucks. My wife daily drives a '79 f350 crew cab, and I drive a '77 f250. My main 2 saws are a Stihl 034, and Mac 7-10. I just love the old equipment, and it's simplicity and reliability.

    Buckin Billy, that 1967 Merc probably has the Ford 351 Cleveland motor in it if the motor is a 351-C. The motors were made in Cleveland Ohio. They are great motors and are sought after for racing motors. I believe ford also made a 351 motor in Windsor Ontario. Just FYI.

    Mr Bill. Hi from Oamaru south island New Zealand. Hey I'm first and foremost a lover of McCullough due to the fact that It's the first brand of saw I own since leaving high school. The pro mac 610 was my first saw which I own 4. I have a near minted 850 and a little 110 with 10 inch bar. Believe it or not I recently thought hey I'm sick of all these 70 to 90 cc saws and discovered the cool beauty of the really small saws under 36 cc like older top handles etc. Anyway the main working saws I operate in firewood is Makita - Dolmar which is the company make as straight professional / commercial saws which makes it easier to buy and cheaper as opposed to Stihl and Husky making 3 or 4 grades which makes it very difficult to choose in shop, this also increases the costs to manufacture too.
    Anyway my first intention was to say to you regarding your truck the best idiot proof thing you can do to it is go to a marine outboard or local diesel injection service shop and buy a Racor 'snapp' fuel filter and water trap which this will help you see in the site glass the dirt and water etc so you can drain it. This is a modern version of the English C.a.v - Lucas system that is used in the Massey Ferguson, Ford, Fiat tractors.

    Amen to it rewiring your brain. It carried over into my work and home life. Once you have forgotten something or had a failure you learn to cope or repair. I'm now a Reuse, Repair, Retask or recycling nut. Patched tents with duck tape and small sewing kit, patched a tent pole with duck tape and a spare tent peg. Used rocks stuff sacks filled with sand to hold down a tent on Rocky ground. Now I carry homemade small sand bags just in case.

    My best truck was a '68 Ford Camper special. It's essentially a 3/4 ton body on a 1-ton chassis. It had the marvelous 390, (which is the same block as the 352 & 360). There is obvious evidence between a 390 & 352 - 360; not by looking under the hood, (actually, as stock engines are concerned, telling a 352 from a 360, 390, 406, 427, or 428 about comes down to knowledge of Block numbers. They're all the same family.), but when ya have a 11-1/2' Camper on it & you're haulin' up the mountains, 390s have no problem maintaining 60 - 70 mph in top gear. 360s & all other small-blocks are the ones doin' 35 mph. By far, the best pullin' motor under 400 C.I. I ever had. I also had an '89 HD Ford with a 460 & 5-speed stick, a real horse that would out pull the deisels up until around 2008 or so. When I sold my '68 FURD truck, it had 240,000 plus on it, it would still smoke the 12x16.5s, & the engine still didn't use oil. (Great Motor, Great Maintenance). It's gonna be interesting to see if my newer Diesel will prove as reliable as that one. (This is my wife's G-m) Blessings to ya. Ron from Texas.

  • @darrellepickering8433
    @darrellepickering8433 Před 11 měsíci

    As for going thru wood time-wise never really interested me. As long as there was a good chain & it cut good it didn't matter. However some years ago I overhauled a 660 Stihl. That was a far bigger saw than I would've ever needed but my neighbor & I used to cut wood for exercise. At that time I burnt wood, he didn't but he was always cutting on his riverfront property. We're both in our 70s now, shadows of what we once were & it's telling. He had an approximately 20' hard maple down, 30" diameter. When I came down to try out the Stihl, he was workin' on that log with a 16" saw. His chain was dull & he was having a hard time. I started the Stihl & went thru that log in nothing flat. In less than 10 minutes it was chunked up, ready for loading. The people that were getting the wood bought my saw also, it was a good day! Glad I got rid of that saw, it used more gas than any saw I've ever owned. To cut wood you would've needed a 55 gallon drum of fuel. Bear in mind it was red-lined at 13500 with a 28" bar & it would cut! As for my neighbor he was always touchy about his chains & he never sharpened 'em the way I did. That day I made a believer out of him & he's been pissed I sold that saw ever since.

I just picked one this last summer and it has anti- vibe handle on it.... didn't know that existed until I saw that one. My very first saw I owned was a 16" 2.0 120 model. It still runs to this day... I got when I was early 20's. I am now 65. These suckers refuse to die.... lol. I now own about 20 McCullochs, most are eager beavers. One even has the onboard sharpener on it... takes a special chain which I haven't found yet.... but I haven't looked very hard for that.... I just like to have it in my collection of them. I did however find and buy a replacement stone for it on eBay. Gotta love eBay man...!!

That's hilarious considering I walk into our local dealer with a 1960 Stihl 1106 looking for a starter pawl and they walked me to the door saying they can't get parts for old junk. This was an early Contra or Lightning now called the 090 made from 1958-68 ish. Thank god for the internet and not having to rely on dealers.

    That merc is wicked. Be cool to put some headers on it. I put msd fuel injection on my Chevy and that fuel injection makes a big difference.

      Yeah that has come a long way in the last few years. FITech and Holley "Sniper" kits learn easy and work well. Big win for those who just want to add gas and drive without having to tinker with a carb

    I stop using a file on my chains. Alway use bench angle chain grinder. Keep that pitch and angle on point. Use to run four chains to a bar, over 100 cords a year with no problems. When I first started I was using a file to sharpen my chain and I got the angles off and when cutting the cain pulled too much in the groove on the bar it started making slack in the bar to one side. then you start cutting to the side and binding up in the wood. After I figured out the problem I had no problems after that. Let me know what you think. Have a good week buddy. Take care and be safe out there.
