I lived in Tulunad on two different occasions when I was a child, and have been back there several times as an adult. I attended 6th grade in Manipal, at the English medium school known as Manipal Junior College. That was back in the 1970s. My father was an anthropologist studying Tulu culture, and much of the material in this video is very familiar to me and fills me with a desire to catch the
next plane back and visit Udipi, Mangalore, the small villages I lived in called Hiryadka, and Venur. Thank you very much for this informative video on Tuluvas!

Surprised to not see any mention of the legendary brothers Koti-Chennai. The garadi temples were the places of worship of the twin brothers as deities along with others. Also the Billava's were the ones who did the pooja and thus claim themselves to be belonging to all the varnas of the so called Vedic system. They performed rituals of temple priest and ayurvedic medics (Brahmin), they were good at archery and physical contact sports (Kshatriya), they were toddy tappers and sellers (Vaishnav- businessmen) and they used to do menial works as well (Shudras). Perhaps this also shows clearly that this vedic culture is an outside culture and embraced by the people of the region who are true egalitarians.

Yes ..without having no reservations , no government support and no scholarships Pappans are able to be in bureaucracy with their hardwork n perseverance n no need to say that karnataka n tamil nadu are the most forward n urbanised in india with these Pappans in bureaucracy. .but u converted ppl even after changing u r names n availing all government facilities still unable to develop n pouncing on Pappans..if possible take them as an inspiration n do more brain work otherwise this frustration will remain with u till u r end!

We have our own script and language.. Tulu is older than DRAVIDIAN TAMIL, AS TULU IS PREDRAVIDIAN LANGUAGE.
      We are only Tuluvas

Tulu is older than Tamil as per linguistics. Tamil and Tulu have lot of common words like kane (eye) , kai ( hands) , kale ( stone). Tamil has it's own scripts and tulu script it's not used any more that's the difference.

      Tamil is Dravidian.
      Tulu is pre dravidian.
So Tamil has come from Tulu..
