It was a fun game to watch, This Iowa girl Withstands a tremendous amount of pressure and still is gracious to the young people who come to see her. A standing ovation at a away game!!!! I think she sells out almost every away game in the cites, they go to. She has great parents, a kind heart especially to the kids who follow her, just classic Iowa nice.

Taurasi, Griner and Copper gave CC hugs. The one CC kept the ball from hitting her was set right by her teammates and later went over to CC to apologize. Stellar sportsmanship for the most part from those players.

The Fever beat a higher-ranked team that had three Olympians on it in an away game. Their ball handling and passing was a lot better than in the last couple of games. It made a huge difference in the level of their playing.
The mercury had a worse record than the fever last season/year. The fever got first round draft pick because of some lottery draw

I still stand by my words: Fire Sides!! She does not have Caitlin's best interest in mind, which means she doesn't have the teams best interest either. She made the comment to the press that she wanted Caitlin to take more shots, but video shows proof that is not true. During the game against the Mercury you can see Sides furiously screaming at Clark to pass the ball. Stating it doesn't have to be perfect just pass the ball and stop shooting. Then after the game she stated to the press that she took out Clark at the end for defensive reasons. That is absolute garbage and stupidity. Clark is top 20 in the entire league in rebounds(which is defense), steals, and blocks. She is a point guard not a big and is still in the top 20 in those categories defensively. On her own team Clark is 3rd in rebounds behind Smith and Boston. 3rd in blocks behind Smith and Boston. 1st in steals. Now, how in the hell is she a defense liability? It was to prevent Clark from making history with the Triple/Double. That is DISGUSTING!! Sides has no business being anywhere near a basketball court, much less coaching a professional team!! I was willing to give the benefit of the doubt, but the evidence is too strong.

No doubt Phoenix has some good, athletic women, Copper, Cunningham and Cloud in particular. Unfortunately, their skills were ruined and wasted by their outright dirty play and excessive fouling. More flagrants should have been called to control the game. The whole league would be better for it.

The refs were incompetent and all the reviewing fouls totally disrupted the flow of the game. They really need to get trained referees in there.

I think Coach Sides is an inexperienced coach but it doing fairly well. However CC needs a coach to help tap into her special gifts and bring the DAWG out of her and get the team as a whole to prepare for a championship. Because that’s what CC wants.

While the WNBA is on pause during the Olympics, they should hire a firm to spend that month, teaching all the coaches and players how to handle the press. I think a lot of these women are coming off really poorly and in some cases, looking really petulant, because they don’t know how to handle the press, which is a rather daunting thing to have to do. But it looks like the league is now going to have to deal with that and rather than all these women looking like idiots, they should really get someone in there to teach them a little little bit about PR.
This happens every game. Folks get fouled. Let's just let them play abs stop the outside talk.

I don't know much about the league or Sides but it appears she is doing okay as a coach. Needless to say because of the bullying of CC, the fans are going to be ultra sensitive to any slight, real or perceived. I admire CC because she refuses to get caught up in the attack on Sides, but does what any team player should do and that's be loyal to the commander, follow the battle plan while playing her game. Are all of Sides choices great? Of course not, no coach is perfect, but it would be impossible to find a coach in any sport that doesn't get vilified by the fans and sports media. I thought pulling CC with a minute left, taking away her chance to get one rebound which would have given CC a triple double, was ill timed and suspect. Not the sharpest move. I know every player and coach were well aware of CC's numbers so it begs the question, why pull her? Conspiracy, stupidity, care for CC's health, I don't know. But we'll see how things pan out.

Way way way way way more than one game Christy sides don't have enough plays and the team is not producing them. You want to do your research find out how many times per game Kaitlyn gets the ball back after she releases it and isn't a screened position to make a shot. The coach said not to shoot than she's telling me that oh yeah I give her the green light to shoot 15 times at least a game. No you told me to stay in the corner and stand there make up your mind coach you're confused there for the players will be as well. She's never been a head coach except for this is her second year. You don't do this to a professional team. You need a high IQ coach, not a low IQ

Theyve won despite Sides she is not a good coach, her team plays terrible defense, they can't set a pick to save their ass and she plays Wallace and Wheeler way too much while benching better players. The only reason they've won as much as they have is due to Clark's floor generalship and her connection with Boston, the rest of the team seems to have very little idea what they're doing out there.
They seemed to play better D in the second half. They forced some turnovers when the Mercury were trying to get the ball inside to Griner.

@@twilight14971 I don't have your answer but you can read into some things. Sides isn't the sole decider. Lynn Dunn has more of a say but there is evidence that she is also entrenched in WNBA culture. There have been stories that Sides had to be talked into taking the head coaching job (by Dunn presumably). Dunn was also on record saying that she was happily retired and didn't really want to be the G.M. of the Fever. So two people in a job they didn't really want who are entrenched in the WNBA culture.
The owner, 89 years old, is on record saying that the WNBA is just a tax write off for him. We don't know how much influence he had on the draft but he may have been aware of Clark's possible impact on attendance and marketing and may have told Dunn to take her. Simon also owns the Indiana Pacers and was a successful real estate investor (partnered with his brother) when he purchased the Pacers a long time ago (he is the longest sitting NBA team Governor).
Again, this is just speculation but there is evidence that the entrenched WNBA gate keepers think they can control the narrative. So maybe Dunn and Sides fit into that group, maybe not. Maybe they drafted Clark because Simon wanted/told them to but believed they could control the situation.
