Hide your sensitive photos & videos
You can save sensitive photos and videos to a folder protected by your device screen lock in the Google Photos app. Items in Locked Folder won’t appear in the Photos grid, memories, search or albums and won’t be available to other apps on your device that have access to your photos and videos.

Set up Locked Folder
Important: The first time you try to move photos and videos to Locked Folder, you'll be prompted to set it up.
1. Open the Google Photos app Photos.
2. Go to Library and then Utilities and then Locked Folder .
3. Tap Set up Locked Folder.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to unlock your device. If your folder is empty, you’ll find "Nothing here yet."
If you don’t have a screen lock set up for your device, you’ll need to set one up to use Locked Folder.

I* moved some important photos to Locked Folder, but I forget my password when "Open Locked Folder" asks for my password. Is there a way to retrieve these photos with out a password. I will use fingerprint option if I ever get those photos back. Thank you.

Moving files out of the locked folder some files are missing. Is it possible to recover missed one and that missed files where located?

I just updated the app and was trying to use it but the option does not appear to make a locked folder for me. Do i have to turn on a setting to make it available? for extra clarity i never used the app before and there was not a option to make a locked folder before i updated either.
No setting is required. It should be appear if you are sure you have an updated version.
Close the app from background. And try again

Bro if you put photo in locked folder that photo will not be retreive if you uninstall the app since you reset your phone the app will be uninstalled and now theres no chance to get that thing back. If ever you use google photo again if you have photo on locked folder better bring it out first before resetting your phone again

Seems that the lock folder is actually a locked CLOUD folder. You Must be connected to the internet with the phone in order to use it.
If at any time you delete the app, you also will lose the Cloud folder along with every photo you have given to Google. It will still be on their servers, but you will not have access to it.
The lock folder is in NO WAY a hidden folder!!
The only person you are hiding the pictures from is yourself. And that is only because of the screwy location inside the app to find the Cloud folder.
If someone has password/fingerprint access to your phone, they too will have access to all of your locked photos if they take the time to look inside the app. And Google itself won't need to access your phone since you're uploading the photos to them directly.

No it can't be recovered.if your personal photos in locked folder. If you reset your phone then your photos that in locked folder also delete.. which can't be recovered

Yes you can. Select photos and click on the move button. It will be unlocked.
