    with the result. The drum sounds great and it's very lightweight.

    Hi! I started to see your videos, I have finished my second djembe and i wanted to thank you after seeig this i feel very inspired to try to do the whole set of dundun drums as a future project. One question, instead of using steal barrel, i am thinking to do it with pvc tubes, do you think the the iron rings could hold tight? i see the barrel surface is not flat as a pvc tube. Im not quite sure about the lenght of the ring. Thank so much for sharing your art!

    Namaste! 🙏 the instrument you are making is called "Dhol" in my Language.. it's traditional Indian instrument and made exactly same way...!! Dhol is popular in almost every state of Indian Republic mostly in Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan, Maharashtra...

      Interesning! How do you play DHOL? What kind of sticks you use? I saw something similar when I was traveling in India.

    Very skillful work. Is there just one hole drilled in the centre on the side of drum? Is that for the sound to escape?

    Nice. I have one made out of a metal drum. Just wish I can find away to soften the ring. The drum rings with overtones. Thinking of opening the drum and lining the inside.

      I'm going to make one of these, and to stop the ringing, I will stick a flat piece of sponge around the outside, maybe half inch or 3/4 thick, and then cover that with dark colored kinte cloth. I think that will work.

    • @damionbujan6218
      @damionbujan6218 Před měsícem

      Update. I did it. I made the sangban this size, and the dundunba with a bigger barrel.
      There's still a little extra vibration, but it's minimal. I believe if I had stuck a layer of sponge inside it would have done the trick

    Hello from Greece! Great work you do! And great video! Thank you for sharing! I am a doundoun dance teacher and wanting to make my own doundouns for a while...lightweight (but sturdy) and tall (60-65cm)..Any tips on where I can find tall barrels and more important where to purchase appropriate skins (in Europe)?

    •  Před 3 lety

      Hey! Greetings from Lithuania. You can try visiting Auto repair workshops/servises, they usualy use oils and throw barrels away or sell them very cheap. The barrel I used is about the size you want (60-65cm). For the skins i suggest you to ask at your local music store first, then try to find any luthiers that makes or repairs drums. Or you can order skins online.

    • @anasadance
      @anasadance Před 3 lety

      Thank you for reply! Do you have an online source to suggest for bying the skins? I ve researched a bit haven't found anything yet

    •  Před 3 lety

      @@anasadance You should find Bibiche Sambou T. Fakoly on Facebook or Instagram, tell him 'Banbu' and 'Afrikos bugnai' recomended. I'm shure he will help you to purcase the skin. Also he can advise you a lot about african drums, playing and dancing. He's great djembefola and drum maker.

    Hi! Which thick and lenght are the cords you used? thanks

    •  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey, this is 6mm rope. Lenght depends on how many knots you make on the rings. Simple formula: number of knots on the ring * drum lenght * 2 = your rope lenght. Of course add a few meters extra.
