That show was great, but outside of myself and my wife I didn't know a single other person who watched it. A shame really

They either haven’t found a replacement for Trevor or they’re live auditioning the people hosting for the week. I know everyone keeps saying give it to Roy Woods Jr. It’s also possible everyone’s schedules for prior engagements.
One of the things I love about Hasan is that his delivery is so candid, it doesn't ever feel like he's reading off a rehearsed joke.

The correspondents are great but they need the chemistry to work off each other, especially in these semi scripted sketches.
In this segment you can clearly see that Hassan has trouble playing the straight man to Michael Kosta. While Trevor could believably pass as the regular dude next to Kosta's insanity, Hassan has trouble going from his high energy annoying persona to the boss pretending to be confused and exasperated.

@@yourmomsaccount69 My parents were born 1955/56 (exact middle of boomer gen) and have 2 millennial kids born in the 80s. Boomer gen ends 1964, very possible a large amount of them have millennial kids born in the 80s-90s.
This dude is definitely my favorite of the guests so far. His energy and whip-cracking humor, and outrage, are all so needed right now.

I'm going on 58, and my student loans were just forgiven. 60K in loans but 114K with 8 and 7 percent interest over the years. I happily accept the forgiveness. I've been working for SS since I was 11, and I'm now a teacher. Thank you for bringing up the student loan debt. I've never understood profiting off of our citizens getting an education.
I'm glad you got it. The government really should do zero interest student loans, we're subsidizing our future. If it doesn't work out then so be it.

I am 57 also. Teacher. College education just does not pay more for some careers. It's not like it was in the 60s. The benefit vs. cost ratio really went down somewhere along the line. Worse, some people really want to actively devalue a college eduction.
It is part of the system whereby everyone stays on or under the survival limit. Therefor everyone needs to keep working under bad conditions. If everyone is struggling, no one can demand better wages or conditions. Since you would be replaced by a person on equal fragile standing.

From what I understand from his standup special, he canceled it himself out of safety concerns for his family and to improve his relationship with his wife and children

as much as i enjoyed Wanda and Sara's performances, yeah, Hasan NEEDS this. i was gobsmacked that Netflix canceled his show Patriot, and he has a lot of insight on what is inherently wrong with the U.S.
I think the number of viewers will exceed if he hosts the show. I mean... he's indian. Over a billion people will watch the show.

I love Hasan's relationship with the other correspondents. He has so much chemistry with them and charisma. Definitely doesn't disappoint and I hope he becomes the next Daily Show host because he reminds me so much of Jon and Trevor.

He's more Daily Show than Trevor Noah was, honestly. Trevor was always detached from what he was reading, and Hasan is bringing back the passion that Jon had.

This is somehow feeling nostalgic. Hassan is Hassan. And Jon is Jon. With lots of love and respect to Jon and Trevor, who brought tremendously to this show, no one can truly be replaced by the other. I appreciate Hassan's style, and I say this in a complementary way that this is just refreshing like the updated relevant version of the old-school Daily Show with Jon Stewart.

You know what...I like the idea of continuously rotating hosts week to week. I've been loving these different takes and flavors of comedy...its an awesome format in of itself.
Yes, but it's a difficult format to maintain quality-wise. They have a line up of candidates because Trevor let them know upfront. But this level of quality can't be maintained. Eventually they need someone who sticks and builds up the experience to consistently deliver this quality daily. Not to mention the impact on the stable production team who has to find a way to make it work with each quest host each time.
I gotta say, The Daily Show has evolved into some monster of a unique show, please keep this going (and get Trevor on as a guest sometimes, I miss that guy).

That would be cool for Trevor to come back as a guest sometime down the road and after a permanent host has been selected!

Hasan Minhaj should be the successor to Trevor Noah. After bursting out laughing within two minutes I was sold. Hilarious and intelligent enough to fill Trevor’s shoes while being his own personality.
Most likely gonna be Jordan Klepper. I like Hassan but he has a Netflix show and is in a contract with them. Jordan Klepper is free to do it, Trevor had him be the fill in host for when he was sick. So my money is on Klepper and it would be a better show

His energy is why he is perfect for the role. Trevor Noah had none of this energy, and always felt sleepy and robotic.
Love this guy. Recently had the pleasure of seeing him at a stand up club in NYC (surprise guest) and he has just as much energy and acerbic wit in front of a small crowd.

IMO, Hassan is the best replacement for Trevor I have seen so far…. I love the confidence, fluidity, and excitement he brings on the show.
Hasan needs to be the permanent host. He is intelligent, funny, entertaining and the show just flows with him at the helm. Finally the daily show is alive again.

All the hosts have been great and a few have been excellent and I am rooting for a woman, but if that connection to the idea that Fox News' viewers are driving the news cycle was Hasan's, job's his as far as I'm concerned. My mind is literally blown.

If Jon Stewart has a 2 season contract with Apple tv, then his return would be legendary. There is not one single comedian that has had the social and political influence than Jon Stewart and George Carlin. Jon Stewart is a powerhouse of a cultural and sociopolitical influence

Well, let's be real. China understands how addictive TikTok is... it's why they offer two versions. One that is severely limited for their own country and one they offer up to the public outside of China.
The fact that China's government response was to specifically mentioning "beloved by young people" shows they have a target interest. The same young people they limit access to in their own country,
also, that chinese tiktok is strongly pushing educational content... the goal is clear, make the own kids smart and all other kids dumb...

Minhaj was on fire tonight! I loved Leslie and the others guest hosting, but I think this type of show is truly in Minhaj's lane. I miss him on his Netflix show and I think he will be a great fit for a permanent replacement here. He is starting to get more comfortable and it is great to witness.

I think there is no question who should be the next host of the show. I’ve enjoyed Handler and Silverman and Wood, Jr. Hughely gave me a chuckle or two as well.
But Hasan is so clearly the most natural and perfect host for this show. He was always one of the best Daily Show correspondents and he has already hosted his own show. He was my favorite White House correspondents’ dinner comedians. I hope he gets this job permanently. Would love to watch him every day.
