- This video shows how to replace the headlight bulbs on a Peugeot (full and dipped beam). It's demonstrated on a Peugeot 206, though the steps are pretty universal to Peugeot vehicles.
I should point out the importance of getting the bulbs in the correct way up (shown by the tab on the bulb facing upwards), and seated correctly, to ensure maximum visibility from the bulb. Amusingly, the last bulb in the video is the wrong way up (you can see the tab is pointing downwards)... no wonder it felt wrong when pulling that bracket shut!
Hope this helps demonstrate how to change your bulbs yourself.

I've never done videos for the money, but a small income helps justify the time invested. Thanks as always for watching.
Thanks to your detailed demonstration, I got my headlight bulbs replaced. Thanks!
I just changed the lights on a convertible 206cc using this guide.... I read the car's manual and had no idea what to do, watched this clip and got it! Plus, the lights work after which is a real bonus for a car-phobic female! Thanks!
Danke endlich hat jemand ein Dodel-Einfaches Video reingestellt ,jeder zeigt es nur auf der rechten ....................super Danke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for instructions ... worked a treat on Pug 206 180 GTI.
Cap was being stubborn, but the tool for the trampoline was almost purpose built.
:)
Thank you so much for sharing this video... So easy to change the headlight bulbs... can't believe it... Thank you once again.
Thanks for your informative and helpful video. I appreciate all of the car help videos on CZcams especially those from non English first language speakers, but sometimes they fill their video with loud music. I appreciate GREATLY useful instructions, like "hinge at bottom, clip at top" and "rotate slightly to ease in position" etc. This stuff gets missed with videos that just show, but don't tell, and have raucous music to cope with ! Thanks I will be replacing my headlamp bulb tomorrow at lunchtime. Cheerio from New Zealand.
No problem Catherine, thanks for taking the time to write this. I try to keep my videos simple and honest, so it's great to hear that I'm getting something right! I hope the bulb replacement went seamlessly for you.
cheers mate. i was having a nightmare with my 107 as its difficult to see whats going on. your advice with the little clip which hold the bulb in sorted me out. nice one buddy
A really good video, without it, I was struggling.
Thanks, I was just about to take the full cluster out to change the bulb. You've saved me a good 45mins.
same here! :D
Thanks alot mate! This helped me alot cos in driver side it was simple to change but in passenger side i wasnt sure how to remove the washer pipe but now it's done and nothing didnt broke and headlights works great 👍👌
Thanks so very much - I would be lost without your help.
Thanks for the video, it was really helpful and I can drive at night again, yay! Only thing was when unhooking the wire thing I really struggled, mine was hooked in 2 sides and couldn't see how to remove it. But I got there in the end
Thank you so much! This worked for my Peugeot 406. :D
Thank you. Step by step guide. 👏
Thanks for the demo! So much easier when you know how. :-)
Great thank you! could not figure this out myself, the manual was no help
You are genius! Best description on youtube!
Thanks! Saved my day.

Really useful thanks. Saved me a few quid!
Excellent, was able to follow very easily
Thank You very much! Really usefull!
this video was very beneficial thanks !
Helpful, thanks :)
TY chap.
Basic but best to check :-)
Great video ,Thanks
Very helpful thanks.
This looks nothing like my 206 (2003). Mine has soft concentric cone rubber covers instead of the plastic cover here. I have no idea how to unplug the electric from it, as it goes throught he conical rubber right onto the light. Any ideas?
Thanks a lot!!!
Thank you very much :-)
lifesaver :D thanks
Thanks for help very good
cool! Thanks
Thank you. Nice.
My 02 reg one is a bit different. Unplug the Cable from the back of the bulb remove the rubber housing, Then push up the Retaining clip. its abit different to the clip in this video. All you need to do is Unhook it from the top.
nice! like 359 and red 797
Thanks for the feedback and button presses madscientisthut! I appreciate your support.
On my car the plastic cover was 'no way' as easy to remove as shown in this video. So had to use a small flat headed screwdriver for additional leverage.
Sorry to hear that Matt, thanks for sharing though, as it will hopefully reassure others that need to apply more force than mine required.
My Peugeot 206 is a 1998 model with one bulb that contains the dim and full beam, how do I change it?
TBH Victor I don't know for sure, though the 206 is evolving rather than being rebuilt, so it is likely that the connections will be the same, with just 1 less bulb. Give the instructions and try and let others know if these work on your model.
Are the bulbs H7 or H4?
hi I cant manage to change parking light bulb, any advice, please?
Hi Rudolf, I could have sworn I'd included them in a video... but it appears not! The parking lights (aka "side lights") are just to the vehicle side of the main headlight box (but are outside the headlight box). They are a simple twist operation, and extremely cheap to replace.
Unfortunately I literally sold my 206 a couple of days before your comment, so I can't do a quality video on it for now. I have however found a video I did on these (and obviously discarded based on the quality). I've uploaded it with a quick commentary. I hope this helps!
How to change the Parking Lights / Sidelights on a Peugeot (shown on a Peugeot 206)
Is this the same for a 2006 convertible 206?
I believe it is. This is demonstrated on a 2004 year of 206, but seems to be virtually identical across the Peugeot range of cars. I've not tried it on a convertible, but can't see why it would be different to the non-convertible option of the time, which I have seen to be the same as shown.
Would be good if you could confirm back for others, to ensure there is nothing different on your model.
Hopefully it won't be too dissimilar on my 205!
is the headlamp bulb the same as the rear one?
Not in any Peugeot I've seen, no Jemma. Rear lights tend to be smaller rounded bulbs like a 380 (e.g. brakes), or even the tiny 501 types (indicators).
If you're in the UK, I can recommend the Halfords website to identify which bulb types you need. You can then buy from anyone you like!
UCKING LOVE YOU
My 206 has a round rubber shield. There is no clip over the bulb and it's bloody impossible to get out!
Would this be the same for a 207 ?
Hi James, unfortunately, I've not got access to a 207 to check. I believe the car isn't that different at all. So the instructions will be very similar. You may find the headlight box is differently shaped, as the headlights overall are different on the 207, but the clip system is likely to be the same.
Would be good to add a comment once you've tried, to let others know if there is much of a difference.
+Artexic I have a 207 and there is much less space. Consequently, it is much much more fiddly to remove the power lead and retaining spring. Especially if you don't have the fingers of a six year old. Or if the lead is a bit harder to remove than in the video. Much frustration and knuckle-grazing. My spring fell onto the bottom of the engine bay and I could not retrieve it. Peugeot tells me in order to replace the spring I will need to buy a new light assembly for over 400 euros. I will not be buying another 207.
Luc Broyden Sorry to hear that. Peugeot have refined the 20x series over the years, cramming more and more into the engine bay with ever model. I must admit, I think they're good little cars, but the maintenance is becoming more difficult with each model due to the reduction of space.
If the spring is in-accessible (even with a magnet on a stick), I would suggest going to a scrap yard, as the 207 has been around long enough that any written off in an accident may enable a cheap spring donation.
yey, 7 quid saved!
Is it as easy to replace a blown bulb in a Peugeot 207?
+Michael Swestun I believe it's pretty similar... Peugeot use the same plugs and hooks on the 207 to the 206. I believe the headlight box is a slightly different shape, but it's still a case of removing the headlight rear, removing the plug (pull it off), unhooking the wire that holds the bulb in and pull it out...
Would be good to add a comment to confirm if you find this video helps for the 207 too. I can't imagine the steps are much different at all.
+Artexic Thank you ever so much... it turned out that the plug had somehow worked its way loose and that is the reason the light was not working. I replaced the plug and the bulb worked fine. I found your video really useful and should a similar situation arise again I will know what needs to be done without having to pay out extortionate prices that some places charge.
Happy New Year to you and thank you once again for your helpful video :)
+Michael Swestun No problem Michael. Glad you saved yourself a fee, and learnt a bit more about your car. Happy New Year to you too!
You weren't too clear on how to remove the main bulb with the wire fittings, still dont know how to get mine out :/
Hi Patrick, so it's difficult to describe. There's basically a hook that holds the top of the wire frame. The bottom is a hinge.
You therefore need to push the top inwards (towards the light fitting) to push it beyond the hook..
then (while still pushing inwards) push it to your left as you look at the car (assuming yours is identical to mine). This is to push it out of the way of the hook.
As you release the pressure it should then naturally hinge outwards without the hook in the way, therefore releasing the bulb.
You can see the hook at 3:15 if you pause.
Does that help? Sorry, it's difficult to explain!
looks a doddle. You just cost halfords 7 quid ;-) cheers
+matt ellis Glad to hear it Matt! :)
