    I think Ryan Blaney is a spiritual successor to Terry Labonte in a lot of ways. Classy, cool, and consistent in a icy smooth package. Doesn’t win often but enough to remind you of his talent.

      I told my Dad during the race that Blaney is similar to Terry Labonte, lol. Doesn't win much, but is always consistent with a calm demeanor. Worked well for Labonte's era, however in this current era, Blaney might need to be more assertive on the racetrack in order to break into being a true championship threat

      A friend of mine years ago went to a Cup race with a scanner and said that over the radio Terry Labonte was the angriest with the dirtiest mouth of any driver in the entire field. He acted like the ice man out of the car but behind the wheel he was a completely different person.

    Ryan is a classic points racer. You can say what you want about his 59 race winless streak, but how many times has he led races, been leading race or finished top 3 or top 5. He's always there. I think his biggest issues was going from Bullins to Todd Gordon who had a lot of success with him and it looked like they were gelling pretty well. Then Todd Gordon retires, and he gets ANOTHER crew chief. The 12 team lacks consistency in the leadership department. I'm hoping this race was a good indication that he and Hassler are starting to gel pretty well. Ford has also struggled, but Blaney has still always been up front.
    His time is coming. It may already be here.

  • @mikelliteras397
    @mikelliteras397 Před rokem +2

    He’s not in a slump, Ford was screwed again. Other than a few outliers, Joey is the only Ford winning, and he’s one of the best drivers and teams. It’s like the one year that Ford had an advantage and the only Chevy winning was Gordon. Unlike now, Nascar fixed that quickly. They get decent 1 lap speeds but can’t keep tires under them. Makes me wonder what would’ve happened if they didn’t take away the downforce they took before the first race in this car. Lord knows Nascar can’t have anyone but GM with an advantage. Funny how the main guys winning and running up front are part of the team that’s been doing unlimited testing with the Lemans car. Should’ve let all 3 manufacturers in on that testing.

There are probably millions of people who could be racing in Nascar but their daddies or grandaddies were not previous Nascar drivers or team owners with the name recognition.
